On the medical debt story, I’m so glad this man got relief. I still wonder why the US is the only developed country in the world that thinks health care isn’t a human right. As a Canadian, I’ve always thought it’s unconscionable to ‘kick people when they’re down’ via the health care system. I can’t imagine going through such a traumatic event as your wife getting ill and then the added stress of worrying about the debt, even going bankrupt. I’ve been through this with my husband and our total debt amounted to some hospital parking fees and some copayments on certain follow up meds. Total cost was under $300. Yes, we do pay for our health care via taxes but we all get coverage. Period. And I’ve looked at tax rates in various states. They’re not significantly different than mind. I just can’t imagine the devastation such a person would feel in losing their wife AND facing crippling debt.
Security is also the responsibility of the location where trump goes and trump has not paid his bills from the last time he ran and a lot of counties aren’t willing to or don’t have the resources to protect trump. Trump should pay his bills. Not the fault of the feds!
