    No need to apologize to this retired newspaper man who rages against the media machine every single day. I recognized that quickening of the breath immediately and empathized with the building rage.

      They're protecting themselves by using appropriate language, even if at it's at the very end of the article.. but i don't think that will hold up in court when tesla's lawyers show the collection of hit pieces reuters have been producing, it clearly shows a pattern of them making tesla look bad without substancial or definitive evidence, to the point of having a tangible effect on the stock, only for them to walk it back later after Elon is forced to correct their lies. At the very least the SEC should be looking into Reuters.

    My experience is that FSD does not seem to see far enough ahead. It generally gets too close to the car ahead at a red light, before applying brakes. Prefer it would back off accel sooner, use regen to get near the stop, then only apply brake when under 3 MPH. That's how I drive. A big issue trusting FSD is not knowing its intent. When it is still accelerating with a car stopped ahead, I don't know if it can't see the car, or if it will apply brakes much later than I would normally. So yeah - trust, intent, and comfort are intertwined and have to be resolved.

    • @routybouty
      @routybouty 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Agreed. Mine seems to specifically apply brakes hard for traffic ahead (or traffic lights/stop signs) then accelerates, then applies heavy brakes until stopped. Hills make it worse like it's having a hard time judging distance.

      You still have to be very attentive to the road while driving with FSD. You can’t be distracted. If there’s an accident it is the driver’s fault.
      Once Tesla reaches full autonomy (Level 5) and Tesla assumes the responsibility for AI accidents - then your comment will make a lot of sense.
      …I’m sure fully autonomous Tesla’s are coming next year. I mean, Elon has been saying FSD is arriving "next year" since 2016.

    Re AI training, at a high level, you are correct.
    Think of it as a driver getting more experienced, then trying to do the same routes again, based on all of that new data.
    It will be more confident, behave differently in some cases, not all. And of course, will have learned new skills by watching other drivers😊
    Forgot to mention as well, the data engineers would have learned lots as well, and will make tweaks and changes to promote or demote behaviours

    If the car remembers, or can set the preferred parking spots for (X,Y,Z) it would fix the corner case where FSD comes to a complete stop without finishing the drive to my home position down the hill and three turns away from completing the navigation driving path.

    Looking forward to 12.4, using 12.3.6 now and loving it, but there are a few things that could be little better. Acceleration from stop up to speed limit is still uncomfortably fast (feels like the pedal is to the floor), and the double dip lane change hesitation is a little annoying. (Starts to change lane then moves away, waits a second then quickly moves into the intended lane) still stops almost a car length away from most stop signs and slowly creeps a couple times before it can see well enough to make a decision. Would be nice if it pulled up to the stop sign. If 12.4 fixes these 3 things it will go from really good to incredible. It’s been driving me to work and home every day for a month (versions have changed) only a few interventions and only one was critical back with 12.3.3. Overall I see the incredible progress with every release.

    I don’t know how accurate this is, but I worked with someone years ago and he challenged me when I was quoting something as fact from this publication. He said he had worked for Reuters for many years, but left them a few years after they were acquired by Thomson Corporation of Canada back in 2008. He said he would no longer put much credibility in their reporting because the culture changed pretty radically towards sensationalism. I found that interesting back then, but I have adopted that opinion in the last few years for most media outlets (all forms of commercial content) and find myself getting my news from people like you. Everyone has some stake in what they publish, but the commercial media has lost their way by publishing content that has been shown to be inaccurate, but they very rarely correct themselves (unless their is a public outcry that could possibly affect their bottom line). I don’t know, maybe this has always been the case, but I only notice more now. I can only rely on spending an excessive amount of time cross checking data and over time I have to come to my own conclusions and go with that. How do they quantify if it's getting better? Do they monitor how many interventions per mile it needs over the whole FSD usage?

    • @yourlogicalnightmare1014
      @yourlogicalnightmare1014 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      half the time i intervene because fsd isn't aggressive enough for me

      That plus a ratio between FSD enabled vs disabled would probably be a good indicator. Right now I use it for a few days after a new release and then go back to regular AP because it doesn't work well in my area. If it did, I'd be using it.

    Hi Farzad. I wonder if you have thought about the location of the front facing cameras vis a vis blind intersections where we as drivers can't see in either direction because of parked cars? Wouldn't it be nice to have a camera located as far forward as possible? Like on the front bumper? A fisheye camera would make pulling out in this situation much safer plus it would be much better for parking. I'm hoping you might know someone who could do something about this.

    I think certain variable settings that the driver can select pertaining to FSD would be a benefit as most drivers drive differently. some more aggressive than others.

    • @mikeoberg1
      @mikeoberg1 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The intent of FSD is to be a safe driver (safer than humans), NOT to drive like any particular human does. When you are no longer required to supervise the system, you will be using your time differently and no longer concerned with exactly how FSD is driving.

    I'm a tesla supporter but let's make this clear- Tesla did cancel the production of "model 2 with steering wheel/pedals" from the new production line. Tesla originally planned to manufacture both "model 2 with steering wheel" and "model 2 robotaxi version" in the new production line. Now they are reserving the new production line for the "model 2 robotaxis (without steering wheel/pedals)" only. Lower cost models they announced in the last call is NOT coming from the new production line.

    I am on 12.3.6. I almost had an intervention free drive today. 10km. Drove great. construction zones, highway, merge in construction zone.
    The worst part is when at a light and it is signalling left. If the light first has the straight arrows go green and the left arrow is red, Sla will just make that left turn. Had to slam on the breaks to avoid oncoming traffic.

    My issue with FSD is while using it in St Louis metro, I have to plan carefully my 8 mile commute to and from work based on high traffic roads and roads that I know have contstruction, So I am taking back neighborhood roads to connect to other major roads, FSD wants to only take major 4 lane roads that i know certain times of day are going to be a complete shit show to get home. So I have cant run FSD if i want to be home any time soon.

    A gentle reminder to thise getting surprised by FSD's mistakes. Do not be complacent! It's generally doing great but the better it gets the more we need to be alert. V12.3.3 almost ran a red light on me. Taking route numbers as speed limits was confusing until i figured out what it was doing. Bottomline: remain vigilant.
