    I just wanted to say that based on this video we purchased the SUPER site tickets for our trip to Rome. It lived up to all said by Rome Wise...and more! The sites we got to see were fantastic, and had my family commented how great it was to have these tickets. As were wandering through the House of Augustus virtually alone, spending as much time as we wanted with no one in front of us, the Forum was teeming with thousands and thousands of people. Our favorites were the House of Augustus and the Church of Maria Antigua. The tickets were well worth it! Thank you Rome Wise!

      Wow that's fantastic! I'm thrilled you got to enjoy the SUPER sites. I think they are some of the best sites to visit in Rome, and as you saw, they are almost always devoid of people! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! I'm really grateful you took the time to write such lovely comments.

    Elyssa, you really are the goto guide for Rome. I just subscribed. You provide a wealth of information but my head is still spinning. I'd like to explain what I want to do and then you or perhaps a viewer can give me some advice.
    I will be visiting Rome in mid-May 2023 for 8 days. It's a bucket list trip so I'm not concerned about ticket prices. I'll gladly pay the premium prices for "skip the line" and total experience access. I'm budgeting two consecutive days for the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. I definitely want the Super Sites and I've made a grid of the days/times open/closed for each site (thanks for that helpful info). Confession: I really want to walk through the Neronian Cryptoportucus. But the other Super Sites are also a must.
    So, for two days, (ideally two day visits for the Forum and Palatine Hill with the Colosseum on ONE of those days), where money is not a concern how should I structure that? If it means buying two separate Super Site day passes, then that's fine. Thanks for any advice.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Bill and thanks so much for your kind comments.
      Here is what I suggest - you will need to purchase a Colosseum Full Experience ticket so you can visit the Colosseum + Roman Forum/Palatine + SUPER sites. However, please note that the Full Experience tickets are notoriously hard to come by.
      th-cam.com/video/Jvr5UDCKysI/w-d-xo.html
      So worst- case scenario, you may need to purchase this ticket on a reseller website:
      Colosseum Underground tours on Get Your Guide: tinyurl.com/GYG-Colosseum-Underground
      Colosseum and related tickets on Tiqets: tinyurl.com/Tiqets-Colosseum
      Once you have this ticket and plan your first visit to the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill SUPER sites, then you can buy your second ticket to the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill, which is JUST the Roman Forum SUPER ticket. This is easy to buy and it doesn't have the same problems as the Colosseum Underground tickets (lack of availability due to huge demand and limited supply/access.)
      I hope that helps!
      We also offer custom trip planning services if you like. Just fill out this form and we can go from there:

I think a tour guide can give you more information about the Palantine Hills/Roman Forum which would be great if you're really interested in the history. We got so many tours I was okay without that one, but part of me would have liked it because I like Roman history!

    Thank you so much! No one except you is providing this information on TH-cam. Thanks to you I acquired 2 early entry tickets to the Vatican Museum for May. Now I monitor the Coopculture website on a daily basis in order to hopefully secure two "Full Experience" Tickets. One last question: full entry SUPER tickets to the Colosseum/Forum/Palatine also include the Imperial Forums. Is there an entrance to view these sites such as Trajan's Column at ground level rather than simply viewing them from the walkway along Via dei Fori Imperiali?

      Thank you so much! I am happy to give you guys helpful info for visiting Rome. It's easy to take a lot of this stuff for granted when you live here, but I know first-hand how confusing some of these things can be.
      So glad you find my videos and content helpful and that it helped you secure the tickets you want.
      Basically, whenever you are in the Roman Forum, you should have direct access to the Imperial Forums as well. You just walk past the Curia Lulia and follow the pathway through Julius Ceasar's forum. It will take you underground beneath the via dei Fori Imperiali and you will pop out on the ground level of Trajan's Forum. You can see the column really well from there! Have a great visit!

    Hi, great video as always! The House of Livia seems to be open on the official website. On the other hand, for both the House of Livia and the House of Augustus, the website mentions that the visit is not self-guided but rather with a guide or multimedia. Could you explain what these multimedia visits are about?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much! Yes, thankfully, the House of Livia has finally reopened. The House of Augustus and the House of Livia are right near each other, and both offer guided visits (you don't have to book or pay extra) or multimedia info. The guided visits are scheduled throughout the day and alternate between Italian and English. If you don't want to wait for one of these, you can go on your own and there are films and other visual aids you can use to help with your visit.

    I always enjoy your videos! 😀 May I ask about another location? I am reading up on where the Egerian spring could be where according to the myth Numa second King of Rome had meetings with the Nymph. I know it is supposed to be in the area close to Circus Maximus and Port Capena but is there a tradition to where exactly the place could have been? Are there still springs in that area?
    I know about the Nymphaeum of Egeria further south but that doesn't seem to build on the myth.
    It's on my "places to visit" next time I go to Rome. Thanks for all your great videos!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for your kind words. Well, I don't have an easy answer for you. There is a piazza Numa Pompilio which is between the Baths of Caracalla and the beginning of the Ancient Appian Way (the via di porta San Sebastiano). And Porta Capena is right nearby but there is no spring anywhere in the area that I know of. As you mention, there is the nympheum in the Parco della Caffarella, well worth a visit, but it's not exactly near Porta Capena.
      There is also the Parco Egeria where you can go fill up your bottle with Egerian spring water, a popular spot for Romans and full of life and activity in warm weather.
      www.egeria.it/en/egeria-park/
      But I am not sure if any of these are exactly the spot you are looking for. We may never know exactly where the spot is, but you can visit these other related areas and you might find it enjoyable!
      You may find this video interesting (I filmed it during the pandemic so I have a mask on for much of it):

      Thank You ever so much for a great response and for taking the time to answer me! The Egeria park sound lovely and I will visit it some day. I didn't know there was a Piazza named after Numa, very interesting. Well considered the mythical side to the story of Numa it can be hard to pinpoint a place.. ha ha... But I've read there were springs in this area and also that the Vestal Virgins got their fresh water from that place - imagine looking into the past and see the Vestals fetching water in this wooded area! I loved your video on the water supply of Rome - I didn't dare to drink from the fountains when I visited but next time I know better. Thanks again!

      Thanks for watching! At this time, it's not possible to buy tickets for the Colosseum, Roman Forum/Palatine Hill in person/on site. All tickets must be purchased in advance, on the same day if available. For most people that means online, but you can also do it over the phone.
      And for the Colosseum, there is no way to visit it, whether with a normal ticket or the full experience ticket, without booking a date and time.
      The Roman Forum/Palatine Hill do not require a time/date booking but the tickets must still be purchased online or over the phone.

    Ciao! Thank you for all the super helpful tips for Rome, Italy!!
    I have a question. I purchased a super site pass on Coop Culture for Roman Forum and Palentine Hill and it was an open ticket. I'm hoping I can use it in November when we come. I am concerned I ordered the wrong thing since it was in Itallian. Would you be so kind to advise if you think we ordered the open ticket where would we present such a thing to gain admission?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and for your comments. The Roman Forum SUPER pass is valid for up to 30 days from the date of purchase. Then, once you activate it, it can only be used one time and there is no re-entry. So basically you have one day to visit all the sites, but that day needs to be 30 days from your purchase date.
      I'm afraid you may not be allowed to use this ticket in November as it's more than 30 days from now. You can try to use your ticket when you come but if they don't let you (as it's expired) you'll have to purchase a new ticket.
      This type of ticket doesn't sell out so it's ok to purchase it even on the same day you plan to visit the site.

      Unfortunately we don't know. I was just there a few days ago and they are furiously working on it. Also, there is a huge Bulgari luxury hotel set to open there SOMETIME in 2023.
      I can't imagine they will want to open with an active restoration site in front of it so I am guessing (without foundation) that they might want to help these restoration works along somehow.
      Anyway, we are all HOPING it will reopen soon, but I just don't have a date yet as there is no news yet. I will certainly update my followers on all my social media channels when I have news!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there is a 30-day window. It's not very clear but if you go through the booking process online, it's in the fine print on the final checkout window. It states:
      VALIDITY
      Only one entrance to the Roman Forum/Palatine, including the S.U.P.E.R. sites that can be visited, and to the Imperial Forum (30 days from the booking day).

    Very informative. Thanks. Quick question... with the SUPER site ticket for 18 Eur Can I split visit rverything on Wednesday and return on Saturday just for the Curia Julia? I have 30 days, but you made it sound like I have to pick one day to visit everything, and if the Curia is not open that day then I will not be able to see it with that ticket. Correct?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comments.
      When you purchase this pass, you have 30 days from the purchase date to use it. Then, once you activate it, it's good for one day only. There is no-re-entry.
      So as I mentioned, you need to pick what you really want to see, because some sites on the pass are not open daily. If seeing the Curia Julia is important to you, then you'll need to visit on one of the days it's open.
      If you really want to visit more sites, you can either buy a second ticket, or you can spend 50€ and purchase a year-long pass that offers unlimited access to the Colosseum and Roman Forum/Palatine Hill and includes all the SUPER sites.

    Thank you so much for this! So, to be clear: if I get the Colosseum super ticket You say it is good for 2 days. I can visit the forum etc. either the day before or the day after (not both - that would be 3 days). Is it timed? Like we schedule the colosseum for Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. then we can start visiting the forum etc. Monday at 3:00p.m. But we wouldn't be able to enter again on Tuesday morning. Just a one time entrance for each site correct?

    • @robindensten7391
      @robindensten7391 ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry, I just realized that I'm not doing the math correctly. 2 days is 48 hrs, so I could go the day before and the day after. I was going to do just the Forum and Palatine ticket but that's only good for one day - 24 hrs. That feels like a lot to see in 24 hrs. Do I understand this correctly?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct - with the Full Experience ticket, you can visit the Roman Forum /Palatine Hill the day prior or the day after your Colosseum visit.
      And of course, you can also visit them on the same day as your Colosseum visit.
      The 2 days must be consecutive. There is NO re-entry, and the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill is considered ONE park.
      So, if you really want to get the most out of this ticket, I suggest splitting the visits over two days.
      On the day you visit the Forum /Palatine, I recommend taking the entire day and bringing something to eat. There is indeed SO much to see. I live here, I go often, and I am always seeing new things.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a very strong interest in Ancient Rome, you will absolutely love the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill. But yes there is way too much to see in just one day.
      You could:
      1) Purchase the Full Experience ticket and visit the Forum / Palatine on its own day. Or you could get just a regular Colosseum ticket that doesn't give you access to the SUPER sites but does give you access to the Roman Forum /Palatine regular sites. You could scratch the surface with this type of visit and then go back a second day (with an additional ticket, see below) to explore in more depth:
      2) Purchase a SECOND Forum / Palatine SUPER pass and take a SECOND day to go back and see all the sites you missed the first day.
      The Forum SUPER pass is available all the time and you can purchase it last-minute so you could always decide after your first day in the park. If you want more time, then just get the SUPER pass for an additional day.

I thought yes, but as I read further, I see that the 2 passes for non-guided tours (with Arena and Underground) list ALL SUPER sites, but the Full experience with the guided tour says this: Entrance to the S.U.P.E.R. sites open (Oratorio dei Quaranta Martiri, Museo Palatino relativamente al I livello, Esterno di casa di Augusto, Schola Praeconum). Not sure if Coopculture imply it is open to all SUPER sites, or just those listed? Hm...

      Thanks for watching my video. I'm glad you enjoy my channel! In answer to your question, yes, the Full Experience ticket includes all the SUPER sites. Some of the descriptions they have on their website may be older and perhaps not updated to include some of the newer sites like the Curia Iulia. The only limitation is how much time you have and also the opening/closing dates of some of the sites as I mention in the video. Give yourself a lot of time as there is a lot to see!! I'd love to hear how you enjoyed the sites, so if you visit them, please come back and let me know here in the comments what you think! Have a great time!

    I'm buying just the forum pass today, it says it's only good for one entrance, where exactly is that entrance? Is it around the arch of.titus gate coming from the Colosseum?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are several. One is at the Arch of Titus, one is on via di san Gregorio, and one is on the steps next to the Mamertine Prison. Enjoy!

      @@Romewise Thank you! This language on coop culture site had me confused like i could only use 1 entrance.
      The ticket includes:
      An open entrance to the archaeological area of the Roman Forum-Palatine and to the SUPER visitable sites, the archaeological area of the Imperial Forums.
      The ticket does not include:
      Entrance to the Colosseum, the Arena and the Underground
      Access to the Roman Forum/Palatine:
      ENTRANCE: Arco di Tito and Varco Vignola in Via di San Gregorio
      EXITS: Largo della Salara Vecchia, Arco di Tito, Varco Vignola in Via di San Gregorio, Via Petroselli
      Access to the Imperial Forums:
      ENTRANCE: Colonna Traiana, Via dei Fori Imperiali

    what super sites are still closed?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sadly, the same ones I mention in this video are STILL closed. The Domus Transitoria and the House of Livia. I keep asking when they will reopen and Colosseum staff keep giving me vague answers (they don't actually know but are all hoping as we are.) So for now, these sites remain closed. I am hopeful they might reopen in time for the 2025 Jubilee. Fingers crossed!

    I am planning to get the Full experience ticket so that I can see the super sites. I am just wondering whether visitors with regular ticket are also able to access the supersites. Judging from the video, it doesn't seem there are any personnel on site of super sites with numbers in order to check whether their ticket is eligible.
    If that is the case, then I might as well get the regular cheaper ticket to access the supersites. Can you kindly please advise?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, there are a couple of SUPER sites that used to be SUPER sites, i.e., you needed the SUPER ticket and there was staff on hand to check, that are NO longer SUPER sites.
      These are:
      The Neronian Cryptoporticus
      The Ramp of Domitian
      However, I can assure you that they do check and you do need the SUPER pass for all the other sites, including the ones added more recently such as the Curia Julia and the exhibition spaces of the Domus Tiberiana. I highly recommend getting the SUPER pass because you get so much more for the money!

      @Romewise Thank you so much for your response. Yes, I am planning to get Super Pass that also includes the Colosseum Arena (Underground ticket is always unavailable in coopculture).
      I am staying in Rome for only 4 days and ideally would like to cover The Forum, Palatine Hill with Super sites and Colosseum with Arena in one day. Planning to book Colosseum from around 4:30PM or 5:00PM so that I get atleast 2 hours before closing. Could you please suggest what time should I start my Forum and Palatine tour in morning with the Super Pass? Is it possible to tour all three sites in one day especially with the Super Pass. I know it is possible with the regular Pass but just not sure whether it is possible with the Super Pass as well since it provides 2 day ticket.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can easily visit all of this in one day. As I mentioned in this video, you should plan out what you want to see in the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill park. Your ticket includes ONE entrance to that park and there is no re-entry. So make a plan, check closing dates (not all the SUPER sites are open every day), and go as early in the day as you can. I'd get there at 9AM when they open. See as much as you can/ want, and then break for a late lunch and get to the Colosseum for your late afternoon visit.@@pmc89

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Well, how long you spend really will depend on you. I'd say you need a minimum of 2 hours but I can spend all day in there. Count on 2 but give yourself a little leeway of another hour in case you want to explore further.

    We used the Parco Coloseo card last year. If you are under 31, it is an exceptional bargain (€25). You do have to pay an excess for guided tours in Coloseum, but it's still worth it.(€4, €12.) We spread our visits out over our week. It lets you enjoy the sites without rushing, especially if it's very busy.. Overall, we saved about €100 over the week between 3. I bought the family (€80) for the other 2.
    Use all of Elyssa's tips and do some research you can make your budget go further.

      Yes, I heard from a few people they were disappointed with the SUPER sites last year, which is one reason I wanted to make this video. Now that nearly all the SUPER sites have finally reopened, it makes the ticket much more worthwhile. I hope they will reopen the House of Livia soon!
