      No. This is low hanging fruit for a photographer and garbage biased journalism. Making films like this is so EASY. The iditarod is horrible and videos like this one are doing SO MUCH HARM. its disgusting. i love nat geo and disney but they are the biggest contributors to this sled dog racing problem.

      @@NatGeo Nat Geo was the first to cover Greyhound Racing when it was banned in Florida, dog sled racing is no different and has many of the same issues.
      I can hardly call this story "unbiased journalism" when its basically a commercial for sled dog racing and tourism.

    This video is very inspiring and gives an example how you can find happiness in extreme conditions. After watching this video I somehow feel stupid about complaining about my current life. It's sad that comment section is more concerned about 'Canadagoose' than about the true message that this video is trying to convey.
    I think Kristen Knight Pace will feel very sad if it turns out that most comments will be more about animal cruelty than about her struggle, achievements and impact on viewers.

    *Before I thought, this looks interesting. I'm gonna enter the race one day. Til I see exactly the PLIGHT of what those lil puppies go through. And to WIN a Race. NO WAY. I'd rather have a small sled team to do practical things, like go to grocery store on small trecks for practical reasons. Not using any vehicle so as to ruin environment. Weather permitting, because they'd have to be outside sedintary while I was inside shopping (I'd plan my list in advance n make it quick as possible too), so as not to be so uncomfortable for them.*

    • @doggodoggo3000

      Being into dog sled racing is sorta like having a drug problem. Its a bad habit you spend alot of money on. Ecept people praise you for this one. It shouldn't be a competitive sport.
      Women actually do pretty good in mushing because on average they are lighter. Its not rocket science, there are even mushers who train all season and make their wives do all the racing.
      Theres a woman named Ashley Keith who was a handler for an Iditarod kennel and she has been battling the iditarod for 20 years now. She has single handedly made alot of progress in that area, pressuring sponsors to drop the race and advocating for more humane care standards.
      Thats way more inspirational to me than the latest in a long line of women who started abusing dogs to feel cool and powerful trying to win a stupid race.
      Ashley Keith has been advocating this stuff YEARS before the whistler massacre. This interview with these ladies here is post whistler. Just THINK about that.
      The people who care for the sled dogs at Denali State Park are mainly women. the dogs at Denali aren't run as hard and are better cared for than most racing dogs.

    • @macthompson9750
      @macthompson9750 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't matter. its still animal abuse and I can't believe they still make these articles. Might as well be talking about dog fighting but thats not quite as photogenic is it?
      Why don't they go to a musher who doesnt race or doesnt chain up their dogs all the time? Because ALL the iditarod racers do. And thats the only thing people think of when they think sled dogs. Its backwards. The best mushers have no interest in racing.
      ugh i hate it so much. And its not like this is unbiased journalism either. It has a "pro sled dog racing" spin on it. Its not photojournalism anymore. its well documented and nat geo doeas a story on it every few years because its pretty looking in print and an easy story to write. low hanging fruit.

By The Lords Great Compassion n Mercy for His Creation, not the Humans who need to prove a point they can drill their Dogs over rough weather n terrain for long periods to say THEY (humans) DID IT. Very very late but most of these dogs have adapted to a cold environment over many years also it looks as though many of those dogs are closely related to wolves so that might explain a little bit, also again sorry I'm extremely late to this reply

    Coyotes are trapped and shot in the head for that fur trim. Husky dogs and coyotes can actually cross-breed because they are within the same biological family.

    • @manchuk1d
      @manchuk1d 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      bet you wouldn't think twice to shoot a Coyote if it was in your yard yipping at your toddler playing in the sandbox. Coyotes will take your cats, small dogs and at times have gone after children. They also thin out the deer herd to a point where they are a danger. This is why in most states there is no hunting season for Coyotes, you can shoot them every day of the year legally.
