Just finished it, all 5 hours. It's amazing how much of this movie came true. Even the dream stuff is real technology that's being worked on. Meanwhile we've all become addicted to images. Confined in ourselves. This was a beautiful, romantic epic about all the best parts of humanity we want to preserve.

I first saw this movie in Paris in 1992, the year it was released. I was living there for a year during my degree. I must have gone back to the cinema 5 or 6 times to see it because it captivated me so much. Looking back I know it inspired so much of my life and travels…I went to
Japan, took the trans-Siberian, Lisbon, Venice, France, Moscow, Berlin, Australia. Without knowing it, this film has been at the bottom of my mind for over 30 years.

I saw this as an 18 year old college kid at Oldenborg Hall, Pomona College in 1992. Some of us were sitting in proper chairs, others lounging on sleeping bags on the floor in front of the screen. I remember a long evening with slow pacing and intermittent breathtaking images.

I first saw this movie when I first left home and moved from rural outback Australia to Melbourne Uni in 1991 when I was 18 (but I think I saw it in 1992)...it had such a profound effect on me because it reminded me of so many vivid dreams I had had. Sam Neil always looked like one of my many cousins and so somehow familiar - and the idea of telepathy and visualising dreams seemed/s somehow common sense and I wonder why more of us do not work on our telepathic skills. Now in 2022...looking back at the global life I accidentally lived I can only relate even more to this film....cheers to everyone that tried to warn us back then!

What was it about the early 90s in music that we had so many eclectic artists who didn't shy away from spirituality and religion and there were even artsts under Christian labels that were worth listening to.

So many movies that speculated about future technologies, always make the same mistake as far as the communications go. They always have the video phones that are stationary. Giant, phone booth sized things that are anything but portable. Smart phones were so far out of the realm of possibility, even in the nineties, that we could've even imagine that in a few short years, they'd fit in our pockets. And they'd do so much more than simply video chat with someone.

Criterions update with the nearly 5-hour director cut is a masterpiece in itself, but guess what? This thing finally hit streaming. Watch it like a 5-hour miniseries. This is an indelible science fiction road story masterpiece. I got to admit I miss William Hurt a lot.

You may have to get an all regions DVD player to watch it, but they're cheap, and worth it. :) www.amazon.com/Until-End-World-Jusquau-NON-USA/dp/B00080SK3G/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1524623299&sr=8-5&keywords=until+the+end+of+the+world&dpID=51eHKh1CzNL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

A better name for these things(smarphone etc.) "Egotoys",they're disconnecting people mostly. That's why the end of the movie feels sad: the blinded grandmother sees her grandchildren, but resulting others get stuck,in their "re-experienced dreams".

This movie brings me very deep disturbing memories. I got together with a girl who was just amazing, I adored her. It was on Christmas 1992 to 93. A winter when I was spending a year as a foreing exchange studnet in Arkansas. I never had a winter before, I lived in a farm, away from people, everything was cold and dark. This girl was just a dream come true until one night at a party i walked it and she was in the harms of another guy. I was crushed. I had the CD of this movie and in my depression I kept listening to it. I am 48 now and I see this video and wow!!!! the flashbacks are horrible!!!! I would have kill myself for way less than that. Horrible depressions.

Something similar happened to me just a month ago. I have been dating a girl for more than a year when she just told me on a holiday, that she felt herself very deeply touched by the place I took her because she has just realised, that she loved somebody else. That was the last day I saw here.
