God bless you and your amazing skills there mister Chris I’m simply in awe of your work and I’m doing everything just the way your teaching me … kia ora e hoa … that means thank you my friend in the Māori language.
@@ChrisGregoryFarrier Glad this short showed up in my feed. Those were some super cool skills. I've always found anvils very interesting. Do you know what's with the stump & chain thing ? It seems like some anvils have chains wrapped around the base. Anyway, stay legendary !! Can't wait to watch more of your contest.
@@ChrisGregoryFarrier so you should be proud ! I used a lot of different knives in my last 40 years of prof. horseshoeing, yours have good design & good steel (not too hard, not too soft) + the handles dont come appart...
I may just buy an anvil, horse shoe, and hammer. Place it by my nightstand and just practice when I'm bored. No blacksmithing just fidget horse shoe spinnin.
It ain't absolutely perfect, but you can get passable doyle 65Ib cast steel anvils from HF. Just make sure to inspect it to ensure there are not fillings on the striking surfaces, and complain about fillings on the side and base to get the price knocked down. With a bit of luck it can be had for about 100$ and is completely serviceable for a hobbyist, but is not tough enough to survive daily use in a professional setting as stray strikes will mark it's surface a little. Still, it's a great beginner piece that imo is better than railroad track or my first option which was taking a piece of scrap steel and a meaty log both donated by a friend, using his drill press to put holes into the scrap steel and then bolting the plate to the log. It wasn't pretty, and definitely was not ideal, but again it was serviceable for a beginner aka me.
I totally asked for this. Maybe next show off how good you are and do these in a series really fast! Amazing work God bless sir.
Thanks Nathan. We'll see.
Thanks for keeping the real world running

Nice
Thanks Miguel. I appreciate you.
Great farrier
Take your date down to the barn for pony pets and the anvil tricks. Be alot cheaper then hibachi ...
Depending. I get $150 to shoe a horse, and this is one of the cheapest areas for shoeing left in the US.
@@ChrisGregoryFarrier I didn't say I was getting any work done ...am just here for the show lol
Finally!
Thanks Mark. I had had a lot of requests.
I briefly thought I was going to see you play mission control. 10..9..8..7
Should have David.
I have another maybe silly question for u😅😅
Why is your most important part not leather protected?
I feel like I need to buy an anvil now
Let Steve at Anvil Brand in Illinois know. He is one of our sponsors, and would be thrilled to hear it.

Just a tip It only works if the shoe is red hot.
Not really, but I'm just used to having the shoe hot for shaping, so I ended up doing the video like that.

LOL Nathan. I'm sure your wife would appreciate that.
Hey now, I said I'M going to buy it! She has her own side of the bed with all that clutter. I don't want to hear it. God bless friend.
Flinging around a red hot piece of metal looks cool but I know it would not end well for me. Well done though

How much does an anvil cost nowadays
A good one starts at about $800, and you can end up spending what you want.
