By far my favorite fighter jet. When I fell ill with cancer, I told myself to fight like the canonical most iconic fighter, the F-15 because it’s the most victorious fighter with no defeats. When the going gets tough, the tough get going and the F-15 is one crazy tough aircraft.
The F-15C model is an excellent fighter - one that set the standards by which all other fighters are judged. Having said that, the C model sorely needs the -229 P&W engines from the E model, which will provide the C model with a combined 11,000 lbs more thrust. If the USAF is upgrading the C's radar and other critical areas, why not the engines? Performance is critical, especially against newer 4G fighters. Come on USAF, give the C model the -229 engines it deserves.
Depending on who you ask, the Ruskies claim their streak Eagle version of the Su-27 beat the that record by 2 seconds. (T-10). Undeniably, the Su-27 is an impressive airframe but not sure I buy it. Officially, the Eagle still has it.
