- Shelling at Pass a Grille, in St. Petersburg, Florida after a cold weather front.
This episode was filmed in late winter of 2024, prior to Hurricane Helene, and Hurricane Milton.
St. Petersburg, St. Pete Beach, and Pass a Grille were some of the areas hit very hard by Hurricane Helene, and Hurricane Milton in the Fall of 2024. The area has been recovering slowly over the past few months, but the effots remain ongoing.
If you are interested in visiting Pass a Grille, or St. Pete beach, I have included a couple links that provide some general additional information.

Awesome video, can't wait to go & look for some great lightning welks!❤😊
I rarely comment but will. I watch several shelling utubers and your channel is by far the best. Your photography and composition is stellar. I appreciate your enthusiasm for what you find and your ability to similtaneously educate us while taking us on your shelling adventures.
I loved reading your comment! Thank you for the wonderful feedback! 💙
Thank you so much for your videos. Hearing the waves, and seeing your videos of Florida, bring back so many memories. I used to spend my winters in Florida, but I’m elderly and won’t be able to return to Florida! Thank you for taking me with you on your beach adventures! ♥️
So excited you found a junonia. I gave out a squeal for you! I’ve never seen one! Hope a perfect one, finds you one day! ♥️
Thank you so much for sharing some wonderful anecdotes from the past, shell friend. You are always welcome here! 💙
A beautiful walk at PAG. I always enjoy your appreciation for the shells & your restraint in not taking too many, when you already have certain species....love that. Thanks for taking us along with you.
Wow! A junonia and so many horsies. What gorgeous treasures you found. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Those Banded Tulips are hard to resist, and it looks like you left a few on the beach. What a nice video. Thank you.
Hi friend! Yeah I have quite a few Tulips in my collection, I generally will only keep one now if it's in super great condition, or a unique color patterning, lol
Thanks for watching!
Great video, I want to go soon, congratulations on finding so many great shells 🎉❤
Thanks so much, for watching!
Thanks for your videos. I share your channel with my patients because they are so peaceful and informative.
Oh thank you very much! I am glad that this content can be used to help others feel positively.
Thank you for watching!
PAG is my happy place. You found some amazing shells. Thank you for the video.
Do you happen to know if the seahorse restaurant or paradise grille have reopened as yet
Sitting here under my blanket and I could feel the sun on my face throughout that whole vlog 😊 What a gorgeous day ☀️ That was an impressive haul 🐚👍🏻
Thank you so much for watching! 🌄💙
Congrats on the Junonia!! The only one I've ever found is also broken so I get the feeling. Great score with that large Whelk too, they seem to be a good indicator that the shelling is really good. Fantastic production as always and can't wait for the next one!
Thanks so much shell friend! One of these days, we'll both find a whole J, haha!
Thanks again for watching!
This place is on my bucket list now for sure!
Thanks for watching!
I love Pass a Grille for shelling. Thank you for sharing all this beautiful shells.
Thanks for watching!
I saw that horse surrounded by tulips at the end of this video.Couldnt decide who was eating whom!!! Great shelling!!!
I also thought this was interesting! Both species are quite the voracious carnivores, so I am not sure...
Thanks for watching!
Wow! You did great on this video! I very much enjoy seeing the shells you find, no matter where you are! Thank you for sharing the beauty with us.
Thank you so much, for watching!
As I've said before, when Pass-a-Grille is good, it's REALLY good! I can't believe there were hardly any people out there. I know you went early, but when I go early, there are always people. Love that place! Thanks, Bryan! BTW that poor dock/pier really took a beating from the hurricanes, along with almost everything on the end.😢
This was filmed at the end of the winter last year. It does seem like Pass a Grille has gotten pretty popular over the past year with shellers who have figured out that early is the best, lol.
Thank you so much for watching, friend!
What a great day for shelling! Thanks so much for sharing ❤
What a glorious day u found! Made my day watching the stunning shells!
Thanks for watching!
As always your vlogs are the best❣️ I just love love your shots of the piles of those beautiful shells. It’s almost as good as being there. THANK YOU!!!
I appreciate the wonderful feedback, and thanks for watching!
Beautiful shell haul. Thank you for sharing. 🐚🐚🐚
Thanks for watching!
Wish I was there….But I am there with you virtually. That huge lightning whelk and those horse conchs! Lucky you!
Beautiful sea shells. Thank you for sharing 🐚🐚🐚😊
Thank you for watching!
Glad to see Pass a Grille recovering. Such a beautiful area and it's my favorite for collecting banded tulips. You sure found some amazing ones! Congratulations on your finds...especially that Junonia! 😍
Hi shell friend, this was filmed in late winter of last year, before the storms last fall, but this area is slowly recovering 💙
Thanks so much for watching!
@@solaceinshelling6552 😅Well, that explains a lot! I thought you filmed this just weeks ago. I was there Feb last year and that's when I fell in love with Pass A Grille/St. Pete's and found my first 10 Banded Tulips. We returned for a 2 week stay just two days before Helene arrived and took our Air B&B. I had never seen such devastation first hand before. Thank You for the update on their/your recovery, friend. 💛
That large whelk was amazing.
Thanks for watching!
You certainly found some colorful beauties there. Nice haul of treasures.😊
Thank you for watching!
Oh la la those shells!! The horse conchs, whelks, fighting conchs, murex and a huge junonia that counts as whole in my opinion. It was as long as the inside of your palm. Thank you for sharing!
Yeah, this one was pretty big for sure!
Thanks for watching!
Congrats! Great find.
Thanks for watching!
So beautiful!🤩
The very definition of "Solace in Shelling!" What a great Winter morning on Pass a Grille. The best quality and quantity of shell piles in a while!
Love that! 💙
Thank you so much for watching!
Those spicy horse conchs are so pretty! Can’t get enough.
Bright orange, and spicy!
Thanks for watching!
There's so much!!!!!!! 🤩
Thanks for watching! 💙
Incredible shelling!
Thanks for watching!
Sweet! I got a broken J that was in a shell jar and I’m going to dremel-tool it down to the juvenile whorl 🤞🏼Beauty washups ❤ Needless to say, “I love your videos.” (I also love how sharp your metacarpophalangeal joint on your thumb is 😂 I hate the way my hands look in my videos so I love admiring pretty hands!)
Hi friend! Thanks for being so observant(my thumb, lol). Appreciate your viewership, as always!
How many beautiful shells 🐚 😍.
Amazing.I have watched it twice because you do the BEST Close up pics as you are shelling.I live 25 miles from the Gulf in TX but under house arrest from my Oncologist.
Your videos are so good,I feel like I am there! ❤️ i am an old lady who lived on Ft Myers Beach 40 years ago lol.
I watched an idiot in another video on the E.Coast pick up a bunch of Olives, found out were alive,THREW them out into the Atlantic like a QB!!!The whole time he was preaching being responsible and not taking live stuff.I sent him a message that said they were probably separated from the shell THEY MADE and going to die now.I think that's right???
Hi shell friend! I appreciate your great feedback on the video!
I am also very happy to hear that you can find peace, and joy watching this content 💙
While I'm not a biologist, I do understand that throwing or flinging live creatures can be harmful to them. Molluscs are resilient, and they endure pretty harsh conditions in the ocean, but I always make it a point to carefully relocate any stranded creatures I come across to a safer environment.
Thanks for watching!
@@solaceinshelling6552 You are a joy to virtual shell with!!!I repeatedly watch your video.I found out that SWF Beach walks and Roxanne at Beach walks? mentioned you before.I watch them on Sunday! Waiting til I can go shelling again ❤️🙏
The good news is that the guy who threw the olives sent me a text explaining he didn't know and wouldn't be chunking anymore live shells!!! Very nice 👍 manners so I hope he means it.I think so!
My favorite beach to shell. All my huge lighting whelks and horsies are from pass a grille.
So many beauties… thanks for sharing.
Where is muki been Mia !❤
OMG!😍🤩😍 Pls take me there!!!🙏
Thanks for watching!
I love tulip shells, it kills me the huge number of tulips you leave behind 😂. I was trying to figure out where you were , by the jetty, dog park, but saw your comment before the storms! I am assuming you were down by the rocks by first Street. Pass a grille is absolutely one of my favorite spots, but dont get there enough! As always thank you for taking time to film, share and educate! Always appreciative!
Omg..when did you film this Brian? Breathtaking..so much shells..beautiful specimens and even the few not perfect ones were spectacular along with the ultimate prize your J!!! THANK YOU for this glance at the abundance of nature.
This was filmed in March of last year(March 2024).
Thanks so much for watching! 💙
Wishing I was there 💖💖💖
Thanks for watching!
Wonderful piles! But its so frustrating watching other people shelling lol😅.. they leave so many things i would love.. especially when where you live its slim pickings 😅😂long slow shots over the piles so we can dream would be good ❤😊
Hi friend, thanks for the great feedback, and thanks for watching!
Shalom from Thonotosassa FLA
Pass-a-grille is the gift that keeps on giving! Your video was amazing!! I was surprised to see the beach, though. I was there yesterday and there was no beach at low tide. Just rocks. May I ask if this area was just left of the jetty? Thank you!
Hi there! I shelled on both sides of the jetty, and on the bay beach in this video.
Thanks for watching!
That is a great lode. Surprised you didnt keep the olive.
Wow u found a huge piece of janonia !
I usually get distracted by Honeymoon Island when I'm in the Tampa/St. Pete area but I'm gonna have to make an effort to get to Pass a Grille next time I'm down that way!
I love Honeymoon Island! Unfortunately, much of the island is still closed in recovery from the fall storms. I filmed a awesome shelling trip there during winter there last year, and I will release that one soon on this channel!
Thanks for watching!
Oh wow! You deserve this!👏👏👍
The lightning welks look s different than the ones Sharmon finds on the Florida gulf coast. The colors are different and stunning on those lightning welks
I have noticed that the Lightning Whelks in and around the Tampa Bay area, do have some unique colorations and patterning on occasion!
Thanks for watching!
The junonia!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Have you thought about selling the shelves & Shipping them out. Maybe in pretty decorative baskets wrapped up in some beautiful cellophane and a bow? I'm sure a lot of people would love to have them that can't make it to the beach. And by the way, I would probably go home with a whole bag full of Giant Atlantic Cockles. I absolutely love those shades of purple, pink and orange on the inside of that shell...
Hi friend, I don't currently sell any shells, but would potentially be open to the idea in the future.
Thanks so much for watching! 💙
Hi! From Chile!!!
Those were some beautiful lightning whelks! What do u do with all ur shells?
Did you go last week or the week before? I went two times during the cold front and didn’t do nearly as good as you! Did you go beyond the jetty?
Hi shell friend, this episode was filmed in March of last year after a cold front.
While shelling is generally pretty good after a storm or cold front at Pass a Grille, finding great shells here can't always be guaranteed. I generally try to get to the beach to shell as early in the morning as I can, to find the best goodies.
Thanks for watching!
So disappointed that you didn't find any lettered olives.
Hi there, I love Olives, but I just didn't find many on this shelling trip. I have quite a few other episodes on this channel that feature Olives, so you might be able to check those out as well!
Thanks for watching!
Which part of PAG did you go to?
Too much focus on only a few types of shells. What about Calico class? They're beautiful!
Hi there! I love collecting Scallops and other bivavle shells as well, just didn't pick up many in this episode. I have quite a few other episodes that feature Calico Scallops, that you might be able to check out sometime!
Thanks for watching!
Did you know that shells are homes to tiny creatures like hermit crabs.
Hey there! I completely understand that hermit crabs sometimes occupy empty shells. If I find a shell with a hermit crab inside, I always make sure to return it to the water.
Thanks for keeping an eye out, and thanks for watching!
