It was nice seeing a couple kits I built back in the late 70's on display, Tamiya models were the best i could find, and in the early 80's I built and raced the sand scorcher, which is now worth quite a lot. I wish I still had it and all the stuff that went along.

Why are they a little to a lot more expensive than styrene kits 5. What are the key steps in prep, gluing, painting, etc to ensure a good result. I appreciate you and your channel

I would love to visit that store! I am just getting back into the hobby and recently bought some of their Honda 1/6 mini motorcyle, and 1/12 MotoGP bike kits, along with many Tamiya branded tools and paints. As a child I would build their car, military vechicles and helcopters. And I also had 2 of thier classic R/C kits the Grasshopper II and the Stadium Blitzer Never see any of the clothing for sale here in Canada, Id love a Tshirt or something

I snagged a Subaru Brat when they first re-released many years back. Still has the mechanical switch speed controller,,with big bar resistor. Built and painted both bodies that it came with. It takes a spin out on the patio on occasion with a 11.1 volt. Original one I had won me a bunch of races. Had the Thorp/Dirt Burners adjustable Ball differential, as this re-release has. My first race winner was a Tamyia Frog(Subaru Brat chassis, smaller spikey tires, Chenoweth Baja desert racer body). It was DONE when I got it. A worn out heap,,lol. Still won races.

Another Tamiya sidenote is that their slide calipers are just as accurate as some spendy older digital and non digital Starrett slide calipers that I have. Tamiya part number 74030. A black soft snap case is included. Worth every penny. Have owned a set for years. I'm on my second set because someone had sticky fingers.
It was great to see inside the Tamiya shop. I was surprised to see they only have limited amounts of stock available to buy. I guess ordering in more stock is not such a big deal considering the Tamiya Factory is in Japan itself. My local hobby shop has walls full of Tamiya models. I was thinking the Tamiya shop in Japan would be much the same. I have heard about this shop from a friend who travels to Japan occasionally. I'm curious, is this Tamiya Shop the main factory outlet, or is it just one of many ?
Hi Weld Machine, I think that they had more stock in the back room or something therefore only a couple of each model on the shelf. I’m not sure if there are more stores around Japan. I’ve only been to this store and the one in the Tamiya hhq in Shizuoka.

Hi Ray, yes I do consider myself fortunate to be here in Japan. Yes the masterwork models are really nicely built kits. I have 2 in my collection. I’ll do a video showing the quality soon. I was tempted to buy the Raybrig NSX because you can’t even buy an unassembled kit for that. The newer ones were closer to $150 like the Senna and the Ford GT. thanks for watching my friend.
Thanks for the tour! Lots of kits I haven't seen before. I really like those 3 Porsche race cars sandwiched between the Lancia and the Carrera GT at 4:19 ! Apart from the models I like those t-shirts too!
I had the Porsche 935 radio controlled version. It is a nice kit, and the decals fit quite well, which was a challenge with those stripes wrapping all over the place. The scale full interior version of the Jagermeister 934 had nice detail, and I loved the engine in it.
I have been building Tamiya models since 1986!! I am planning on going to Japan in a few years and I want to visit their headquarters. Right now, I am building three Tamiya kits, the 1/35 scale Sherman EZ8 WWII tank, 1/35 scale German Leopard 2a5 MBT, and the 1/48 scale U.S. NAVY F-4B Phantom II. When I am finished building my projects, I will take some HD pictures of my work. These are some of the best model kits Tamiya ever made!! I will take my HD pictures of my completed kits with me to Japan and show the company employees my own works of art!!

@@marksample6230 you aren’t the first person that said they had problems with the decals on that kit. I may have to try mine just to see why. What exactly was the problem?
@@ScaleModelExperiment I think they were just old or hadn't been stored properly. They cracked even before applying. The rest of the kit turned out great. I had the same problem withe the carbon fiber snorkels on the Honda NR750. Kit still came out nice.
@@ScaleModelExperiment now that I think about it my KR Jr. Suzuki had the same issues. I could be handling them wrong but I've had great success with other kits.
I just found out this shop is 15 minutes walk from my office. I also just found out Tamiya made the Honda Fit GD model, but I doubt they will have it in store :(

The Tamiya kits have always been top quality and a joy to build. Hasegawa would be next with Trumpeter a tie.

Rye Field Model and Great Wall Hobby are superior to Trumpeter. Tamiya are definitely the best, though.

I just found out this shop is 15 minutes walk from my office. I also just found out Tamiya made the Honda Fit GD model, but I doubt they will have it in store :(
I think the fit is coming out in a few months. The Tamiya store is a cool spot.

Hi Peter. Neither😀. I asked on purpose. Tah-mee-yuh it’s funny, i mispronounced it for years and Andy from HHQ called the Tamiya hotline and put it on speakerphone. The video of that event was on the Luka Cee channel.
