    HI DOES THE NUTRIENTS OF THE FLOWER BECOME LESS AFTER DRYING?

    • @HungrySciANNtist2020
      @HungrySciANNtist2020  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hi! Thank you for that question. Honestly, I do not have an answer ready, so I did some research. An article from cedarmountainherbs.com by Suzzane Tabert mentioned that too much high heat can destroy the medicinal and nutritional components of plants. In addition, from researchgate.net about drying medicinal plants, heat sensitive and photo sensitive phytochemicals may denature or destroy when exposed in too much heat.

      Yes, it’s blue in color. Don’t worry that is its natural color. It will turn purple if you add lemon or calamansi in your tea. I have a video on how you can make blue tea and purple tea. Feel free to watch it. Thank you.

      Hello po, If we’re drying the flowers po, I recommend air drying and mild heat and temperature, (or dehydrator) para po madry completely at hindi nabigla. Sa water nman po, we can use hot water in making tea, 3-5 mins steeping time lang po para hindi bitter ang taste. Nandun na po ang nutrients ng tea leaves/flowers ntin.

      Drying is a way of preserving the flowers. With this method, you’ll have a stock of dried flowers you can use anytime. With fresh flowers, I use around 3-4 pcs in a cup of tea. with dry flowers, I think I am using 5-8 pcs. When they are dried already, the quality of color degraded compared to the fresh one. For me the taste is the same. According to an article that I read, the benefits may degrade too or not the same to the fresh one due to heat.

      @HungrySciANNtist2020  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi! Good to know that sun drying works for you. However, I prefer to use indirect sunlight and air drying because upon doing some research I learned that too much exposure to high heat might cause degration of some nutritional value of herbs. Also, I work during the day and I cannot keep an eye to my herbs/flowers if they are getting enough sunlight or if it will rain on the day that I leave them outside. It’s good that both methods work well for us.
