30 seconds in, I'm sold on this game by the aesthetic alone. I followed the Steam link, but I already had the game in my wishlist. At least I'm consistent.
i love this game based on how its actually pretty realistic. It makes a ton of sense that humanity would mostly revert back to a more late medeival stage after a huge apocalypse like this. You'd see alot of swords, axes, maces, and bows combined with stone and wood walls. After all, without the massive infrastructure we'd quickly run out of electronics and without fossile fuels brought in from halfway across the globe we'd largely quit using automobiles. You'd see stuff like that in select locations like large nations capitols but most people would go back to a farming and gathering.
Totally agree with you. And there really doesn't seem to be as many proper channels that does this. I actually found another one that I like, ExactChaos
They don't get it their children get it for being anchor babies(We are the only country in the WORLD that does this). They also got the 25 billions dollars from all the criminals we pay for that are illegal that are behind bars and then they let out and go kill people also we deport them they come back 8 times till they also kill people. Trump has a plan and the wall is just a start its better then what the libtards have. they talk a good game but when it comes to actually doing it Obama sucked period! I agree with you Holy Pikeman
@@TheREALTripleT Yaaaaa.... you're an ignorant bigot :/ I'm sorry that you're going to have to go through life like that, and that you likely don't have the self awareness to overcome it. I'm also sorry for all the people that will have to suffer your racism.
Hi quill as for tips at the beggining you need to get out as many tents as possible and look for the area where you can stack them for later upgrades of a bank and a market for more gold and less food consumption, dont throw them out everywhere you will need alot more resources to upgrade them later and you wont get much money out of them if you do so. Start with as much hunters and fishers at the start and get out those tents with them sticking together as tight as you can with 2 in a row and then 1 space. don't worry about stone in first 5 or days or so and get out to 30 or minimum of wood production if you can. Get early soldier center with about 20-25 archers and start clearing the map for fast exspand towards grass areas for food so you can get alot of gold this game is how greedy can you bee early on and survive. Then get wood workshop, upgrade to farm and build them on grass tiles and when you get to 20 or so energy get another mill for energy so you always have a bit of a bank of energy. in wood workshop get to upgraded houses and then to ballista and market after that. Build ballista in chokes it can hold it alone until the waves come and when they do do double walls and another double walls infront if you are not sure you can hold with your archers at the beginning. and dont poke the doom city it has few hundreds of infected in it.
Thought I'd add my 2 cents since everyone else is an expert... Everyone feel free to upvote to help him see this post. 1. Houses should be kept close together for late game gpt, even your starting houses should be built with market and bank placement in mind. 2. Ballistas are a very expensive early game investment that does not expand your borders, their lack of versatility makes them far less useful than the 4-5 archers you could use to clear new land and explore the map. 3. In the early game, resources and housing are far more important than expanding tesla tower range, spending your resources as soon as you can, while keeping your priorities in check will help you snowball into a far more successful late game. 4. Play the way you want and enjoy, in these earlier difficulty settings, you really can do dumb stuff and get away with it. That being said, keeping my first three points in mind will make it much easier to do that. ~currently on day 45 with a 4k gpt, 40 archers, 80 snipers, half the map cleared, and 2 ballistas 1 shock tower on every wall~ 120% difficulty
I now see that this was published quite a while ago, well I'm sure you have this game a little more figured out by now, but if anyone else is looking for help hopefully my first comment is seen as useful.
If not for the Zombie Town being right next to Quill that would have been a relatively defensible town too, such a waste of a decent starting position.
Mathmachine its still a good starting position. The balistas that he can make will help take out the town. The people who said gg are probably those that haven't beaten the first map yet.
My second game i got to the end wave, albeit on easy mode. I still got wiped since my defenses were distributed unevenly and they managed to punch through on the northwest. This is with beforehand knowledge from a letsplay lol. Start position is important, but development and design even more so imo once you get mid/late game. (I understand speed of development can be limited by start position.)
Decent? That start location is a freaking paradise (aside from the town)! Only 3 entrances and 2 have tons of resources with easily defendable chokes... As long as he can defend the wall, he's got it made.
1. There is a gap at the bottem of your wall next to the city. 2. That wall needs to be 2 wide instantly. 3. The defenses take 3 spaces. 2 for the size and the 3th space has to be free. That mill you placed blocks you from building a balista. 4. You need to spam tents and rangers in the beginning. 5. Research balista place walls on the other sides dubble and than place balistas on the wall at the city and make a gate. Than create archers and aggro the city to come to your archers which will stand save in balista cross fire. You acually have it lucky since the balista's can help with the city. 6. Always at the start have 2 balista's on every wall. (More on the wall next to the city)
r hol I agree with most of your advice, but you don't really need 2 ballistas on each wall right away, and double wide walls can be put off for quite a while if you just add a second layer whenever a wave comes towards it.
You NEED double walls for the harpies. Which will shrek you if you don't have double walls by the time one wonders by. You might get RNG harpies in the first week.

stake traps (and later on barbed fencing) are amazing. being able to heavily damage / outright kill the frontline chaff of a wave before they get to your walls is absolutely worth it.
Yeah, same here, I'm going for traps only if there's overflow of resources, that can't be spent on anything else. They are pretty much useless for the latest waves, unless built 4-5 tiles deep and it's just too much resources.
2:32: Holy shit! Okay, penis humor aside, I have never seen a long canyon like that before and it even has a fantastic chokepoint at the end! That is some amazing map luck, dude :O 3:25: Hahahaha, and the luck evens out! xD Kudos on sticking it out, man; way more entertaining. Also, you never know when people just think something's impossible because they suck :P I'm actually quite jealous; seems like a really fun challenge map! :)
the comment of "you are not ablt to win on this map" is so damn wrong... its easy to cope with 1 city i mean its the first map and hes not playing on max difficulty

I love Quills work because he seems like the most earnest gameplay/talks. He's always trying to be positive and I love it. Plus, strategy games, epic.
It makes it extra hilarious when something is so bad he can't be positive about something (not this game obviously). :)

"being positve" = total delusion.
@@poilboiler Do you have an example of games so bad that Quill has had to admit how bad it is? I would LOVE to hear the despair in his voice!

It's lucky that zombies dont have ladders like the mexicans.
If Mexicans could infect other people by biting them the wall might actually have purpose. :o
That's fine, he left a nice gap along the cliff for them

Instantly sold on this game. This industry needs more RTS. Great video btw!

This game looks cool, nice to see people still making RTS.
this game is more of a Tower defense than a real RTS.
"Build a wall, Make the zombie pay for it!"
I love this quote XD
This game reminds me of Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress
Except, not quite that level of shit garbage
minus the steam-powered trains, which the snipers in this game could've used
Kabaneri wasn't shit, it was ok. Admittedly I only watched the first half because I heard the second half was bad but hey, still it was ok.
Lord Dash Donald Dappington I did exactly the same :P
Space Colony for me, from way back 15-20 years haha :)
I was waiting for you to pick this one up Quill. Glad you did!

Would love to see more of this I watch during the stream but definitely want to see more playthroughs!
I don't like how quick things get built in such a short amount of "day" time.
I wish I could binge this :(
love what you do quill!
i binged the stream
Great Ballista at your wall before the town might troll some of those buildings and will handle most of the spawns until you get a clearing force.
first time seeing this game and watching you playing this makes me want it, it looks fun
the picking the ballista first is a very good idea
Another great video Quill ... my son just bought me Tropico 6 , and I've been enjoying the beta until it comes out on the 26th
stake traps (and later on barbed fencing) are amazing. being able to heavily damage / outright kill the frontline chaff of a wave before they get to your walls is absolutely worth it.
Kinda, I am still not fully convinced, I feel that they do best in moderation.

just started streaming this game my self-thanks for the pointers I needed them nice video/stream
I am kinda sold on this game, looking forward to finishing the series!
this game is so good
Nearby Haunted house. Rush for wood and ballista. You need a walled ballista facing the Haunted House as soon as possible.
Best comment: 'build the wall, and make the zombies pay for it.' :)
Between this and rimworld, the future is bright for city building games.
Woah you got the best map right away
Wish he would do another series
Thank's for the facecam and distractions warning, those do drive me crazy.
Looks like a fun game
This game kind of reminds of a rtwp tower defense kohan + warcraft + rise of nations if that makes sense... and I love it. It's so cool.
"Build a wall and make the zombies pay for it." Lol. A Trump wall reference.
Stone is neccesary to build any kind of military units. "late game" :3
fking amazing start location - the doom village of course lol but u can just super fortify that till u get units that can kill it

Just bought the game yesterday, havent played it yet so this will be like my mini tutorial.
their early release is on the 13th of December, how can you possibly have bought the game?
Pre purchase. I also got the beta.
You must build additonal pylons xD
Good video more please.
i spent hours on this game, using the easiest settings and i only lasted about 100 days! lol It's so fun though!
Quill, are you gonna take a look at the new expansion for Path of Exile?
Wait.. is that Red-Alert-speak when you click on workers/soldiers?
Ei ya finaly playing this noice. Hope you go on builsing lots of tents cuz what you have at this point is not enough
Will they even do another dnd campaign?
Why did they call it the dwelling of doom instead of a doomicile?
Theres static on the audio for me.
Yeah, decrepited...not a word.
The only reason to dislike is cus i want longer episodes xD
You mean December 9th, right?
YISSSSSSSSSSS QUILL
quill, honestly you look kinda like gabe newell
ah this is the stream I saw yesterday?
quill youtube dump a lot of what he stream.
In the description it says it was a livestream on the 9th of November. It could also be a mistake.
is this 100% or 130% difficulty?
fabiomuggiati my guess is 100% dont think its brutal diffeculty
i don't think it's even 100% difficulty. more like 55%.
the comment of "you are not ablt to win on this map" is so damn wrong... its easy to cope with 1 city i mean its the first map and hes not playing on max difficulty
im just waiting for the attack on titan mods......meanwhile ima gonna kms
+quill18 Do you mean "From the *December* 9th livestream."
Just watching this man child, I can tell hes playing on the lowest possible difficulty settings lol.
Hello Mr Quill
how do i get this game?
it should go on sale in about 10 hours.
FIRST?
Wow, turning on TH-cam notifications was a great idea.
This game is just an slightly advanced Tower defense.
You could say the same for starcraft 2
This comment is just a slightly masked troll (I mean, come on, you even have the troll face...).
So this is basically AoE
Im no AoE-fan but this is worse
This is basically tower defense more so than AoE
lol poop
yawn
great game. GOD AWFUL voice acting, it almost makes the game unplayable for me
so boring
I don't like how the buildings build themselves, imo if you go for an old-school rts at least do it right...
I was more of a C&C guy, than a *craft one, back in the days, so I'm okay with that.
Who said it's trying to mimic old-school RTS? :0 Either way, I prefer the auto-build.
u talk too much quill18
It would be much more interesting if the resources depleted and you had to expand you colony to look for more.
