In the original Tron game, there was plans to incorporate "The Arena" from the second game, Discs Of Tron. Regrettably, memory limitations of the time did not allow it. It's a shame because it was a truly wasted opportunity for both the mod community, and Arcade 1Up to not attempt to integrate both Tron and Discs Of Tron into a single game. With modern tech, it should be fairly easy to create a "transition screen" to let the player move from the main game to the Disc Arena to face off Sark. I know it was probably due to license limitations and Disney's lack of regard for it's gaming IP's. Other than that, you got mad skills in Tron!!! It's good you learned the real secret of playing well in this game. (Hint: less is more).
THere was a seperate game made, which I think was a good idea. It really caught the disk wars aspect with some reeally cool lstuff the deves threw in there.

Amazing play! I used to play this incessantly as a kid, but only managed like 183000 if I remember correctly. I guess the developers never thought anybody would get over a million points.
Kinda cool thing I remember. The first 3 lightcycle levels can be won by only pulling the stick left and wait. No speed, no other maneuvers. They destroy themselves.

@@Bastdread when playing, the next game after a spider game will shoot 4 bullets instead of 3. it's best when you get two spider boards in a row. then you can shoot more spiders for more points. when that happens, it seems you're shooting faster, but you really just have an extra bullet on the screen at any given time. which is kind of the same thing. check it out after a spider screen if you get any board but light cycles. on the lower boards, it just adds one bullet. so if you're on the first set of games, the next screen will be two bullets at a time. 4 will be the max in the higher levels.
I played this game so much in college a quarter would last me for an hour. Could turn it over a million points. The lights cycles and tanks were patterns and the cone and bugs were just faster and you used the same technique every time.
