    I got one too, 2003, off road bumpers, upgraded all the lights to LED, camper, so fender flares, I would say around 7k or so. So far it's only 80k miles original motor and transmission, I definitely love Toyotas

    Be careful if you have spacer blocks in the shock tower to give it the lift. I had an 02 Tundra that I installed 2" spacer blocks which put stress on the ball joints. After 6 years they gave way and my brother had an accident at 45mph. No serious injury but the truck was totaled. Also, one of the tie rods was broken. If ur ball joints and tie rods are stock u should carefully check and replace if they have never been replaced.

    • @tompkee9
      @tompkee9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah tie rods will probably need to be done soon, and I just put OEM new lower ball joints on the truck maybe 15,000 miles ago

    I still drive my 2002 Tundra I bought brand new. I had only 1 issue with it since I bought it, other than that, it has been faithful and reliable. I wish I had the new tech stuff like temperature reading inside and out, back up camera, led lights, etc. I currently have 172,000 miles on it. Plan on buying a newer one after I pay off my wife's 2018 4 Runner TRD OFF and replace my 2006 Pilot for my son for a Tacoma 14-17 model.

      Learn to diy or find a mechanic. Upgrade your alternator to the sequoia alternator for more amps. And just add those extra things now.
      Add back up cam
      Heads up display on your windshield
      Temp gauge for outside is cheap, just have to wire it
      Led lights are available
      Might as well add the supercharger for a little more power

    • @christopherburbidge972
      @christopherburbidge972 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t tighten your torsion links to adjust for a lift, you either get lucky finding some aftermarket links that are longer or you can do what I did. I found some dodge truck links that mount perfectly and then had a local machine shop cut them to my needed length and thread them properly. No problems since. I used Superior suspension 3” lift spacers on the front to mostly level her after adding some heavy duty rear leaf springs to tackle the axle wrap issue. Axle wrap is still an issue and so is front shocks not being smooth. It’s very much pissing me off! Why is nobody giving a shit about these 1st gen trucks that are so much better in longevity than others!?

    Hey nice looking beast! You definietly put the money in it! How do you like the spacer level? Do you do minor off roading(hunting roads, uneven gravel roads, minimum mainteince roAd, etc.)?

    • @tompkee9
      @tompkee9  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Appreciate it! Yeah I go offroading all the time , I've jumped the truck about a foot into the air, exactly like the way on the motortrend eppisode of the Tacoma on Epic Drives . I've had the spacers for 3 years and no issues other than I just had to replace a CV axle due to the boot tearing , the system itself has almost no extension to it , so a lot of holes you hear the UCA hitting the coil with the A arm or knuckle. Assembly too, I would recommend the Eibach coil overs , decent price and lifts it better as well as the toytec setups👍

      @charlievang7843 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tompkee9 yeah thats great. I was looking at the extendable struts from Eibach but you know how it is, always looking for the cheapest way that is still great! And do you have any rubbing with the 33" tires with that 2 inch level? How about mileage and power? Ive read that 33" are suppose to be the best fuel mileage tire size for the 3.91 gears on the tundras.

    • @tompkee9
      @tompkee9  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah go with the Eibach , I average 15 MPG , but also don't drive very hard. And definitely a power loss over stock , is it terrible no, but from just my own "testing", my buddy using his stop watch and my judgement , with the 33's it's 0-60 in about 10.5 at high elevation . I don't recall the stock time at high elevation

I don't like spring spacers, which limit spring travel, but I am considering ARB-EMU springs and Bilstein shocks to lift my rig. I don't care if my truck looks "clean." I want it to look "dirty."
