  • I'm going to show you how you can use baking soda to minimize the look of your pores. It's also a great way to exfoliate your skin. Try it out!
DR OZ on baking soda beauty remedies:
    • Video
*Using baking soda is a natural way to minimize the look of your pores. Baking soda will help remove the build-up of dead skin cells and dirt from the surface of your face. It will also help clean out your pores.
*using warm water, wash your face with a natural soap that is fragrance free. Lather and rinse.
*with 2 tablespoons of baking soda, add enough water to form a paste in your hands. GENTLY go around your face in a circular motion for 30 seconds (do not exceed the time) DO NOT SCRUB! Then rinse with cold water.
*follow your nightly skin care regimen afterwards (toner, moisturizer, night cream, etc..)
*You should do this everyday for a week (or 2-3 times depending on how sensitive your skin is). Always follow up with your regular skin care regimen for best results and to maintain healthier, cleaner skin.
*You can repeat this every 2 weeks or every month for desired results.
*For sensitive skin, please test it out on a small part of your skin first to see if you don't get a reaction from it. If so, I wouldn't recommend this for you.
*As for helping with acne, personally for myself, I saw no improvement.
*ALL OF OUR SKINS ARE DIFFERENT AND WORK DIFFERENTLY. WHAT WORKS FOR SOME PEOPLE MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU.
*In the video I am NOT scrubbing my face. Some parts are just fast forwarded.

I use egg white and toilet paper twice weekly and it has completely transformed my skin. Take one egg, separate the yolk and discard or find another use for it. Whip the white then either apply to the face and put the paper on top or dip the pieces in the egg and place on the face. You have to perfect your own method but practice makes perfect. Let it dry completely, don't smile or you'll break it loose from the skin. After dry, gently peel off (removes impurities) and then wash. Tighter pores!

I thought of trying this last night since I had no cleansers left in my bathroom. Thoroughly impressed! It dissolved my pores on my nose and those are so difficult to get rid of! Love this idea.

I use soap mixed with baking soda to wash my face. All I do is rinse it off and pat dry. My skin and pores tighten immediately. And it stays that way for hours.

I read that if you leave it on to long it can hurt your skin more then help it. In one of these posts there's a link and it tells you what Baking soda can do and it wasn't good. It doesn't happen to everyone but it does happen. I was only saying this because of that link that someone posted on this and you should read it as well. This doesn't work and it does what it says in the link. If you have skin problems and need what this says then You should do a chemical peel. Same thing more safe and it works. You can go to see a place like Elizabeth Grady and have them do it. My sister does this and I learn alot from her. I also read alot about skin and what is good for it. What will work for me doesn't mean it'll work exactly the same for you or anyone else but it also could. This doesn't work and it hurts your face more then helps. She got results others didn't but that link that tells you what Baking soda can do or does is scary. That's all I'm saying.

This works great. I do it a few days per week in the shower. As long as you don't scrub you are gently exfoliating like using a micro dermabrasion. Really smoothes out you skin. Just make sure to moisturize after with a very gentle cream for sensitive skin so it will not burn.

I first massage for about two mins and then let it set till dry and rinse with cool water. Can get a little stingy but it's never bothered my completion. Leaves my face so clean and smooth. I do this a few times a week.

She does give a disclaimer in the text below the video. Sometimes, you do need to read and research before you jump into these DIY's. She does mention, that you do still have to follow up with your normal regimen like moisturizing. So, she is considerate of the necessity of this step. But, I thank her for sharing her regimen. I have huge pores in the same area. I am willing to try anything to get those pours smaller, so I am curious to see what others have tried. Of course, I did what was best for me and it happens to be Olay's pour minimizing scrub. Works like a charm, a little expensive though. BTW...You are Beautiful Girl!

I've been using baking soda to clean my face for years. I like to mix it with a little Cetaphil, which is a mild non-soap cleanser. It makes a gentler scrub than just water alone. I am not a rep for the product, btw but I grew up with severe eczema so I've been using Cetaphil since I was a kid. Whenever I do go to a professional facialist, they always comment on how small my pores look : )

Baking soda prevents bacteria, making it one of the best remedies for problem skin. It benefits acne-prone, greasy or porous skin. It can be used as a face mask but also doubles as an exfoliate. When used on a regular basis, you will have noticeably clearer, softer skin and it is far cheaper and more effective than a lot of the treatments available at drug stores. Both the exfoliating method and face mask can be used once a day but you will need to ensure you always moisturize your face or it will become dried out.

lemons have acid... That acid can kill the germs from acne.
Lemons can also whiten your face... but I would recommend that you only put it where the affected area is at though.

    • @Jordan-ul4rs
      @Jordan-ul4rs 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Putting oil on your skin to remove makeup is what will cause clogged pores overtime leading to acne. Its better to just use makeup remover wipes. The only way olive oil would work without any side effects like acne/clogged pores or blackheads is if you have dry skin.

    • @jennygirl22able
      @jennygirl22able 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Never put on your skin what your not willing to put in your mouth or swallow. Rule of thumb. Stay away from Chemicals they cause cancer. I have been using Olive Oil to take off eye make up for over 5 years. Never got any acne around my eyes EVER. Keep your money in your pocket and quit making other people rich off the same thing I'm telling you. Use Olive Oil.

Your pores don't look bad at all, you have really nice skin, maybe because of the baking soda. Baking soda will never hurt your skin, most products you buy from the store have chemicals in them, which I read aren't so safe, can't go wrong with baking soda.

Baking powder goes in and makes the enamel lighter, they used it in the old days too. But stopped using it because it wears
heavily on the enamel and is not recommended to use everyday . (I will not use it at all on my teeth). In time, the baking powder make your teeth incredibly vulnerable , because you wear the enamel away. And then you will have less white teeth, because you will then see the dentin behind the enamel, which are usually more yellow. (Sorry my english is not perfect, but i work with this everyday so i do know this is true..) :) Anyway, i do like your videos.

goury v It depends on your skin. There has been a lot of fear mongering with people throwing in how baking soda is too alkaline for the skin; it can range from a PH of 8-10.
Ironically, these same people usually tell you to use a clay mask instead. But Bentonite clay, for example, can also have a PH of 8-10 depending on where its from, same as baking soda. Ocean water has a ph of about 8, but you don't see people warning you not to swim in the ocean!
Everyone's skin reacts differently to substances, so what works for one person may not work for another. I used the oil cleansing method to unclog the vast majority of my pores and to keep them clear. But I've yet to find a clay mask that can do the same for pores on my nose and chin.
Baking soda works fine in moderation. Just treat it like a clay mask. I wouldn't mix it in a cleanser because the ph is too drying to be used every day, twice a day. I also would mix it with raw honey, not water, so that its not quite as strong; raw honey is slightly acidic so it will balance it out a little. Honey will also moisturize your skin while the baking soda is working which plain water won't do.
First, make sure it won't react badly by taking a small amount and putting it on your wrist. If everything's ok, put some of the mix ONLY on the spots that you are having trouble with and have clogged pores; avoid the delicate eye, temple, and lip areas (these usually aren't problem spots anyway). People give different times for leaving it on. Just try 1 minute first to see if that's sufficient. You can also slowly change the ratio of honey and baking soda, but ALWAYS start out with less baking soda. It's better to adjust it little by little than to pile 2 TB of baking soda on your face only to find that your skin can't take it. Afterwards, put on a more heavy duty moisturizer like you would for a clay mask such as coconut oil.
Honestly, I think most of this fear comes from a blogger on youtube, Veronica Gorgeois, who made a "DIY Skin Care Recipes You Should Never Try" video that has regularly been making the rounds in DIY circles. She emphasized how you should never use baking soda because it's "SO ALKALINE!!!" And what do you know, in other videos she suggests using clay masks which are also alkaline. People preach her videos like they're the gospel truth because she's an esthetician. Some of her videos are good, but I'm always wary of youtubers associated with companies.
      Hope that this helps!

+goury v BAD. You use it to clean your sink, not your face. The skin is very fragile. It isn't just about the PH balance, but using something too abrasiveness. Skin care products exist because they're made _for_ the skin

      who
Exactly what I was going to say. As a woman, I can’t stand it when some tells me that. Makeup is an artistic expression that some times make us feel good by the simple process. We might not need it, but choose to do it at times. The freedom to be versatile and switch our look up with make up is so much fun, not everyone could understand. Right!

Baking soda is not for skin. The only reason a person would use baking soda is to neutralize an acid (which should only be done by an esthetician) because it is so alkaline. Your skin has to have a ph of 4.5-5.5 which is below the neutral ph of 7. Baking soda is very high on the alkaline side which throws your skins natural protective barrier off. By doing so you are making your skin vulnerable to bacteria and also the possibility of premature aging.
Also majority of the time pore size is a genetic trait and last time I check baking soda does not change your Dna.
Please see a professional for your skin.

+Brittany Young THANK YOU. The fact that this video has almost 2mil views and this many people might be doing this to their skin is horrifying. Its science. "all natural" does not mean its better or safer. Baking soda, vinegar, all those fun diy items are chemicals. I use that shit to clean soap scum off my bathtub. No way in hell I'm scrubbing it on my face!

+Kathryn Evans People do not understand Pinterest and TH-cam are not always sources of facts. Just because it's organic does not mean it works for your skin or is safe. Some organic things like apple cider vinegar, tea tree, jojoba oil is great but people should really do their research.

      P. acnes the bacteria that causes acne thrives in an alkaline environment. so when you add alkaline products to your skin like baking soda you're making your skin a more welcoming place for acne bacteria.

Better then the no fragrance soap, which can cause the skin to be dry, is a fragrance glycerin based cleanser. I like Liquid Neutrogena, I also like their alcohol free toner as I noticed my pores were smaller after using it for just a week.

    Hi!
Just wanted to clear this up-- putting baking soda on your face is NOT healthy for your skin and will do damage in the long term!
Your skin is slightly acidic, and tends to be around 4 pH, and that helps to maintain the moisture barrier of your skin which of course keeps moisture in but also does the really important job of keeping bacteria, irritants and allergens OUT! When you damage that moisture barrier, your skin is more prone to breakouts, dryness, irritation, redness and sensitivity. And the low pH of the outer layer of your skin is key to stop the growth of harmful bacteria or fungi.
When you use baking soda on your face, you're raising the pH of your skin! Continued use of baking soda as a facial scrub can permanently raise your skin’s pH to a 6.0 or higher, leaving the skin open to dryness, infection, and damage on a perpetual basis.
I know I've been guilty of using baking soda on my face in the past, but trust me, when you start to pay attention to taking care of your moisture barrier, it really pays off! Just wanted to share this in the hopes that people will stop using baking soda and damaging their skin over time!

Baking soda is safe to put on your skin, it only has a pH of 8. It works great to neutralize body odor. It absorbs water so it may dry out your skin.
