Azula is such a well written character, one of the best I've seen honestly.... Like yeah she was crazy but growing up with a dad like Ozai. Zuko could've easily turned out like Azula but he had his mom and then Uncle Iroh ... what else is so sad is that Im sure Azula's mom would've been there for her just as she was for Zuko BUT Azula being a fire bending prodigy was honestly her doom, because this is exactly why she probably spent an insane amount of time being right under her insane father thus shaping her to be how she is which is really sad because at the end of the series she is only 14 I believe so she's literally just a child having a breakdown.. its so sad to see
Azula was a menace and could have been a great main villain if it wasn’t for her own insecurities coming out after being betrayed. She played the game well.
Well I'm sure they weren't going to watch it anyway but this is technically a blantent spoiler. Especially considering that when it was revealed he had a son it was a pretty emotional moment and not something the audience knew for sure until later.. Most of the other comments probably figure that out too otherwise there would've been many pointing it out like you did. A low hanging correction but they understood it wasn't something to be said since it was spoiler territory. There's always someone though that jumps head first and do something like this cause they think they got a pretty good "um actually" moment.
I mean considering she was only 14 I think it's appropriate to feel some sympathy for her. She was a child driven to insanity by her genocidal tyrannical father who held her to extreme standards from the moment she was born. Their mother showed kindness to Zuko but neglected Azula which is what encouraged her downward spiral whereas Zuko was able to do the right thing in the end. I'm not excusing her character's behavior by any means but there is a very understandable explanation for it.
Her mom gave up on her sure but I don’t think it’s because Azula was terrible, I don’t think her mom had a choice. Azula being a fire bending prodigy would force her to spend most of her time with her father because she was “strong” in his eyes. And sadly a child being raised by a man like Ozai it’s no surprise that she ended up how she is. She had no one at all but Ozai and we know how insane that man is.
@@iAYEJAY I agree with what you say but it was also shown that she was still on the fence at that time her mom stopped trying when azula decided to completely act like her dad at some point it’s even mentioned that both azula and her mom regretted giving up . Not in the show I believe it was one of the comics .
@@kiraexe.7856yeah you are right it was in the comics, the comics basically shed more light on the family relationship and also azula genuinely loved her brother she just didn't show it much because she was too obsessed with impressing Ozai
26:36 her reasoning was like _I could've been ASSASSINATED_ in those 5 minutes 27:48 and cries. CJ cut her crying both during her conversation with her mom, and after being chained. That tantrum fire breathing turns into absolute sobbing that hurts no matter how much I see it (I kinda....don't like that he cuts out those moments. It doesn't detract from her internment) 29:33 ; 29:45 oh nvm
NGL, I loved Azula and still love her crazy ass, but she was wildin tf out the whole series LMAOO. Wish she had better parents, especially her father, since she takes after him A LOT 😥
@tdenzel101Azula wasn’t “too evil”. Y’all give too many simple ass labels for a complex character. Ursa didn’t give up on Azula because she was “too evil”, she gave up because she knew Ozai would never allow her to be around Azula long enough to have any influence on her. And being around Ozai all the damn time allowed Azula to develop similar traits to her father. That’s why Ursa didn’t want Azula to develop her firebending; she knew Ozai would see a weapon who he could later use to grab the throne and end the war. What’s more scary is… Ozai would’ve done the same to Zuko had he not been a late bloomer.
I blame the parents cause like she could have been like zuko and switch side but she actually didn’t have no one in her corner like zuko he had the uncle teaching and giving wisdom vs Azula having the dad who wanted to use her as a weapons the mom barely shows love cause their should be no reason your kid think you love her brother more
I think Azula was what she needed to be. It's Ozai who should've been more of a menacing presence in the show. I mean, the guy "raised" her to be...well Azula! He should be just as or way worse than his daughter ever was! I would've liked to have seen how more of how strong and evil he was as a bender and a firelord! We didn't get enough of him, really.
