My cousin spent 2 years in jail awaiting trial because he got jumped by 4 dudes at a club and he poked somebody and ran, called the cops, told them what happened found dude in the hospital with a collapsed lung and tried to get him on attempted murder because he "escalated the fight by introducing a weapon"

    This is why i left jersey for tx. He is correct but jersey has a castle law. If someone is inside your home you can defend yourself but its a lot of technical stuff to it so check the laws for yourself. Even in texas... when you take a class for concealed carry those white boys will stress to you over and over not to explain to police what happened because you will regret it. You call 911, name and location, tell the operator that the person broke in and that you defended yourself from the threat and hang up. Then call the lawyer and go from there but dont be telling the police shit when they show up. Al isnt ignorant he knows how the game goes.

      The part about not talking to police and incriminating yourself makes plenty of sense. But not doing it because u don't wanna look like a snitch is beyond dumb. I'm gonna atleast let the police know that he broke into my home, then let the lawyers do the rest.

    • @Luke973T
      @Luke973T 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @rdelacruz8949 he conflated his personal situation and clarified a bit more and it makes total sense to me. Living in nj/nyc is like living in an outside jail. Laws laws and more strict laws is how it is. Always held under scrutiny. I've watched the news and saw plenty of old guys getting robbed by violent repeat criminals and when they gun them down they go to jail for illegal possession of a firearm. You're programed to accept that you're a criminal even when you're not trying to be one. You can't afford to be running your mouth and you for sure can't afford to be around people that do so things tend to get over corrected. In his particular position with his record he is definitely snitching on himself if he says anything at all and that goes for a lot of people in Essex County

      @@Luke973T My guy I'm not new to new york or new jersey laws. It's definitely messed up because u are going to jail either way. But the part about him not wanting to look like a snitch is dumb. • @Luke973T
      @Luke973T 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @rdelacruz8949 it's good that you mentioned Georgia. I lived there for 7 years. Opposite situation. I saw young guys with dreads, golds, and tats on the news getting called heroes for defending themselves and their families from harm. I was still moving like I was doing something "wrong" and one day I realized that I could just walk in a store and buy something legit and get a carry permit because I was in a different state and old enough. I ended up moving back to NJ due to a situation but being back in that trap I knew I would be back south before long

      @@Luke973T You are very correct.vAnd I can definitely relate, cuz when i first moved out here i behaved like i was doing something wrong also lol. Being in nyc so long made me feel like a criminal for exercising my second amendment rights. Things are much more free down here. But don't get it twisted, cuz out here race can play a big part in how the stand your ground law gets applied. Out here it's perfectly OK to shoot another black person in self defense. But shoot a white man, things get really sketchy. All in all, u still get to protect yourself out here. The gun laws up there are beyond horrible. And the self defense laws up there pretty much don't exist.

    If the situation involves possible jail time don’t give a statement. If they believe they have enough evidence to warrant an arrest they are going to arrest you regardless, the statement only works against you. The police don’t decide how much time you get so speak to your lawyer or public defender only because that’s who addresses the courts where the judge makes the final decision. Police are only meant to enforce laws (Police/Policy) and confront with suspicion, that suspicion can range from non criminal suspicious activity (no possible jail time) to suspicion of criminal activity (possible jail time). It is not your job to prove your innocence to LEO in either scenario it’s their job to find evidence that you’re guilty of the suspected crime. It’s all a game for the smartest players or the ones with the most money that’s why it’s called a court with opposing sides, spectators, refs, you never get home court advantage, people keeping score and voting, and it’s a winner decided at the end that’s why lawyers keep track of they wins and losses. We just the ball 😂 depending on who hit that game winning shot lawyer or prosecutor you going back to the streets or to jail

This information is good for anybody not just somebody that’s living by street rules, but even civilians can get jammed up if you’re talking to the cops, remember in any type of crime or Action that is hurt somebody or seemingly broken the law the cops job is to get information so the DA can get a conviction they are not there to help you always remember that.
