From a 33 year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol I need to say that we were never called “Border Guards,” but originally “Patrol Inspectors” or “P I s” and later “Patrol Agents.” The gentleman in this story is obviously on the northern border for there are no heavily treed areas on the southern border.
Agree with no heavy treed areas on the southern border. Spent some time in the Bootheel area in NM with the USFS and definitely no dense forested area along the southern border. Border drug and illegal immigrant is present.

I think this story is fake. I agree there’s no way they call themselves “border guard.” Everyone knows it as Border Patrol.
There alot of cottonwood forest along the Rio Bravo.
