Okay but I literally found that EXACT mirror at the thrift store yesterday! This could not have come at a better time, now I'm going to spend the rest of my winter vacation upcycling it
One of my earliest memories is toddling around the block on a walk with my parents and my dad rescuing the top foot or so of a plastic Christmas tree. He made the simplest stand ever for it and it gets brought out as a centerpiece every December 🎄

Sorry Girls - You need to go upcycling again when people are spring cleaning. That's when they throw out lots of big things. Bonus if you can find a community/municipality that promotes this all at once. My community does this x2/year. It revolves around the trash cycle, as x2/year the trash hauler allows residents to throw away large items for free. So, these 2 days a year the curbs are loaded with items to upcycle. If you're feeling brave, my wife says you have an open invitation to come to St. Louis, MO and do this. She could even show you where to go.
We have this also in my community in IL. You can set your things out a few days before trash day and most of the things get picked up before the trash man comes. People drive thru the neighborhoods with their trucks and just pile it on .
I freaking love these girls! They are so relatable. When they were running away from Drakes house and Becky says, “did you get that on camera? That’s so cool, they told us to leave Drakes house.” I was laughing so hard. 😅😂😂

Mirror! When I saw the little circles around the mirror I automatically thought of dollarama’s decor stickers (like the pearl ones). It would’ve been so easy to just stick those on and spray paint over it! But you still made it work!
Nothing needed to add to this mid century modern piece because it is absolutely fantastic and completely in line with the look it is going for. Because mid century modern is always about less and not more.
Its perfect for modern decor u can have a cute wicker basket with some cute throws or pillows to match with seasonal decor or normal decor and add a plant on the side :F
My dad and I used to love "trash hunting" when I was a kid! 🥰 It's actually a pretty normal thing to do where I live. People place old items in good condition outside of their house for other people to pick up if they want free stuff. If no-one wants the items, the crane comes once per month to pick up the items and take them to the dump. Community members recycling old items is better for the environment, so we encourage people to do it. ☺️
Our council would have a fit if we left stuff out like that, unless you were paying them of course! Sometimes they won't even pick up the bin if the lid is slightly open.

Love the mid century cabinet! I would definitely put that in my house. Yes, the legs seem a little long, but any shorter and the cabinet would be too low to use comfortably.

These both turned out incredible!! My vote is for the mirror, it just blew me away. I agree with some other commenters that you could add a lower shelf to the cabinet using the same method as the dowels. That dowel method was super impressive!
We love a mid-mod find! However, I wish the cabinet was shorter. I also would suggest gluing in those supports and adding a polyurethane seal so it can live its best life.
These two pieces are soooo gooooood and think they should totally go together, just putting it out there. I can't choose, I love them both! Well done ladies!
Imagine if Kelsey made a little shelf on the bottom like the same way she did the bars on it it could have another storage spot?? Idk if I make sense tho lol
TIP for when a lid doesn't open: just warm up some water close to boiling point and pour it sideways on the lid. The materials of the lid will expand or the product stuck in there will dissolve a bit and it'll open easily. Use a cloth to open it, this will increase friction so it's easier to open and it'll protect your skin. I've done this with oil paint tubes (those are the worst), normal paints, a bottle of vitrox solvent, literal glue.... it works with most stuff :) Edit: Both are such transformations! But I want that mirror! So aesthetic haha
I use danish oil often at work. That stuff dries into a tarry sludge. If you give it a few taps with a hammer (or screwdriver handle), it’ll usually dislodge. Or pry off the plastic cap and use a wrench. I’ve never had to resort to putting holes in the can, and some of those have been used only a few tablespoons at a time.
One time I went to rich neighborhood in the city and picked up a 2013 Apple iMac that worked for free by the trash 😅 it was only missing the power cord

Thank you ladies. Happy New Year! Can’t wait to see what you get up to in 2021.

Loved both of the upcycles! The MIRROR, tho! I was literally just contemplating buying that Anthro mirror second-hand off Marketplace for like 350! Now, I just want to try to upcycle it, somehow...
She didn't dust off the cabinet before oiling, you could still see the dust... Also if you want to oil something, then you should get rid of the complete coating first.
I feel like Kelsey could have added some like golden more detailed handles or something like that to make have more detail and make the cabinet look fancier.
Both are incredible upcycles! My vote goes to the gold mirror. I think one final addition to the teak cabinet could be adding fun wallpaper or contact paper to the inside of it as a surprise! That would have put it over the top for me.

Where can we buy your up-cycles?! I live in Toronto and Kelsey’s cabinet would be perfect for a record player and some records!
Yesss, I was thinking that too!
It absolutely would😍
But you would have to bolt it to the wall, it‘s much to unstable to hold a record player. The needle should never budge when you are walking/dancing beside it or it will damage both the needle and the record
I don't think that the things they make are up for sale 😔
@@lotta_kannfastalles 🌸In Cali with earthquakes or anywhere with children|elderly present, most furniture should be 🛠bolted securely to the wall to prevent tipping hazards.
🤔This piece should definitely be secured by "L" brackets underneath it.
🛃Reasonable safety precautions trump any landlord restrictions. With tutorials online, it's something you can repair easily before leaving a rental property too.
I was so scared at the antique technique at first but damn that mirror looks so good.
You made a perfect combo!! That mirror over that cabinet OMG. That would be cuuuutee.
I'm gonna have to vote Kelsey on this one! She really gave new life to the cabinet and made it so practical. Total transformation
This is what I’ve been waiting for! Let’s go Sorry Girls!!!! ❤️❤️
I love your friendship. It's so wholesome.
Amazing upcycles both of you! But I think Kelsey's cabinet took the show, it was the added dowels between the legs that did it for me. It made it look so well made and really expensive!! Would love to see this little competition continue, it was a lot of fun!
I honestly love both of them!!! Your talent and creativity has been such a source of joy for me through this crazy year! Thank you for your upbeat content and diy inspiration.
Becky wins for me only because I literally cannot believe that is the same mirror, I am blown away by how it turned out. But they were both great upcycles. Would love to see more of this kind of content!!
Love this video! Also wanted to say that the “audio in the studio” did not bother me, nor did I even notice 🤩
I've loved picking up furniture pieces to upcycle. I even jumped off of a bus once in order to get a dresser. Sent my son home to bring Dad back with the car.
DUMPSTER DIVINGGGGGG!!!! Im here for itttt🌈🌈🌈🌈
Seriously, you both did awesome work recreating these pieces, love em both!!
Being that I live in a SMALL home that needs all the storage, the cabinet gets my vote, but you both did great!!!
These may be my favorite up cycles you've ever done! I can't choose... Bravo!!!
Becky's mirror turned out so good!! 😍
"Started from the bottom, now we're here" got a whole new meaning realizing that he meant a massive mansion in one of the most expensive cities in the world, especially when it comes to real estate 🤣
That security was scary. Damn, you can’t even walk on the sidewalk or road on the same side of his house. 🥴
So torn! I love them both. The dowels are everything but the use of those little ornate pieces kill me(in the best way). Great job 👏🏽
Loved both of the upcycles! The MIRROR, tho! I was literally just contemplating buying that Anthro mirror second-hand off Marketplace for like 350! Now, I just want to try to upcycle it, somehow...
Damn. I can't choose. They were both very well done. Also: More of this, please.
Mirror is great, but, too fancy, for me. I love the bar. Great job ladies
JESUS THEY KILLED THIS, especially Becky wow
She didn't dust off the cabinet before oiling, you could still see the dust...
Also if you want to oil something, then you should get rid of the complete coating first.
Ngl this is the first time that I can’t actually decide who did best. They’re both so good.
Love both! Trash pickin has been around for years and years. It’s just more popular now because of social media.
I feel like Kelsey could have added some like golden more detailed handles or something like that to make have more detail and make the cabinet look fancier.
I used to do close protection for a lot of the houses on the bridle path and I’m shocked no one stopped you guys 😅🤣
Both are incredible upcycles! My vote goes to the gold mirror. I think one final addition to the teak cabinet could be adding fun wallpaper or contact paper to the inside of it as a surprise! That would have put it over the top for me.
The cabinet is more my style, but I love what Becky did with the mirror. I cannot choose a winner. They are both fabulous makeovers! You girls are very talented! I love watching your videos.
