  • This video is somewhere between a step by step "how-to" video and a vlog on a K&N Cold Air Intake install for a 2.7L Toyota Tacoma. The goal was to try and get a few extra ponies to help my lifted 2nd gen Tacoma 4x4 struggle less on the daily commute. Pretty simple install, only a few snags along the way.Social Media Links

    What you need is a sprint booster!!!
    I put one in my 2.7 Toyota Tacoma 2018 pickup and it totally transformed the motor response night and day and it takes only about 20 minutes to put it in and it will change your Driving Experience and if you don't like it it's money back satisfaction guarantee you can't beat it !!!

      Lol, as crazy as it sounds, this comment isn't lying. The throttle on the 2.7 is so slow, the sprint boost allows the engine to feel more peppy. I currently have a rental 2.7 Taco but if I owned it, the sprint booster would be my very first mod. The intake would be purley for sound.

      bad idea. personally would never put an aftermarket electronic between the throttle pedal and the ecu. get a tune, better results, performence, and no worrying if that aftermarket part will fail on you. these tunes have been tested for years and not a single unhappy person. I got the 2.7 OTT tune on mine and would never drive another tacoma without it.

    Thanks very much for this video, very helpful and informative for the 2nd gen 4cyl Taco peeps! Freaking Amazon left out the hose that connects the throttle body to the intake tube... So I'm gonna try my best to contact K&N tomorrow, the day before Thanksgiving and the first day of my 48 hour shift across town, to try and get my only vehicle running again ASAP lol. Time to borrow my parents car 😂

    Hey ya gotta watch those K&N air filters that require oil......for 2 reasons: First, "oil bath air filters" are OLD technology, that is actually rather dumb nowadays, because the necessary oil in the filter attracts & holds dust & dirt, but secondly, even after cleaning them frequently, then spraying with fresh oil, after a while, it can really wreak havoc on your mass airflow sensor!!! Lot's of guys who bought K&N cold air intakes are complaining about their MAF's going bad. So I bought the direct replacement that is A DRY FILTER, that is totally re-usable & washable with compressed air and vaccum cleaner made by INJEN TECHNOLOGY......and now I don't have to worry about dirtying up my MAF. You should do the same.........the dry filter version made by InjenTechnology costs around $75.00, and lasts just as long as the oiled version by K&N. Injen has also been designing & selling their own complete cold air intake kits for various engines for quite some time, and they are also very high quality. I love mine. Sounds awesome too, when I romp on the throttle.

    I think I heard you say you installed taller tires and did you re-gear the differential to account for it? If not the re-gearing will help you out. I just did a drop in K&N and removed the the air silencing chamber located behind the fender liner and I noticed quite the difference the acceleration.

    • @Str8sixfan
      @Str8sixfan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did put on bigger tires, however it was less than 1" in diameter difference. Hence why I'm not really looking into the expense of re-gearing. But yea, I'd recommend everyone do what you did. Better R.O.I. in my opinion.

    • @Str8sixfan
      @Str8sixfan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, whatever the timeframe is since I've uploaded this...my review is...not worth the money. Next to no improvement on MPG. I'd recommend a hi-flow drop in filter and doing some mod to the inlet side of the airbox. I did no reprogramming. But it does sound better when I'm passing people on the highway ;)

    What exactly is the Toyota identifier letters/numbers for your 2.7 liter engine? For example: my 2000 Tacoma has the 2.7 liter known as the 3RZ-FE engine. My engine was produced from 1995 through 2004.
