These episodes are well shot, written, edited and narrated. I don’t give compliments lightly, but when I watch each episode, I feel like I’m watching a professional production on television. Luckily also you have a great voice and manner of speech for narration.
As an ex-navy sailor, I really appreciate these videos. It really brings back both fond and not so fond memories. Also, I really thought that your plant was not going to survive the choppy n. atlantic winter seas, but I guess I was proven wrong. Fair winds and following seas, sailor!
I was thinking the same. Back to my days in the fleet. When the times were good it was good. Watching the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises. No drills, no GQ alarms. Just being there in the moment with yourself. Clear head, no worries.
Oh such fond memories. Hands to bathe in mid Atlantic on a really calm day!! Boy was the water cold!!!!!! Still miss being at sea even in bad weather whether it was in a Frigate or Carrier
A natural narrator. Love your films. The natural ability to speak at a natural and apparently slow tempo is a gift. It grabs the listener and engages them. The classic example for a Brit, is Terry Wogan, an Irishman, who became a legend in Britain, at first on the radio and then on the TV. Wogan would appreciate your natural approach.
Buddy... been binging your videos this evening. What a find this channel is. Wonderful videos and point of view. Personally I am a deck officer, british cert, norwegian born and raised. Worked on maersk container ships for a while before moving to search and rescue in norway. Transitioning to offshore work now. Love your videos. Lovely to see the AB perspective. You guys are the backbone of the ship man. Us pencil pushers and compass botherers can't do without you ❤
So good! I could watch for way longer than just 9 minutes! Guess I'll have to dig in to some of your previous videos although I think I've seen them all already.
Thanks for a most enlightening series of videos from someone who first went to sea in the UK Merchant Navy before joining the Royal Navy and receiving a commission. Joe, it bring back the long hours, hard work, tedium and the comradery of life at sea in any service of any nation. Thanks again, DE, GM6HGW
Joe you’re glad to leave the shipyard after 3 weeks… I’ve done 4 months in a Greek shipyard… leme tell you I’ve come to the edge haha. Cheers for the video 👍
Hey! I’m about to finish my application to Piney Point today after getting the clean bill of health from my dentist. Obviously I’m as green as it can get and then some. So I have tons of questions about “the life”. Wondering if you can answer just two. When you sign onto a ship, is that kind of time in a ship yard stipulated within the contract, or is that just extra time with the ship, so extra pay? And how long will you be on the ship now that you’re heading back to sea?
Depends on the ship really, I work on Superyachts, bit different to Joes kinda work but still a seafarer at sea… Being at sea is amazing it’s definitely for me a passion. 🙏
Glad your finally underway. The way I see it, you and I have something in common. I drive a truck in Westchester County NY doing PU and delivery of freight. Were both responsible for the movement of freight ,. you move it across the ocean, I deliver it to the consumer. It's a long chain and were all just links in that chain. Peace
You are legit really good at this. Your videography is phenomenal, your editing is awesome, and your voiceovers are fantastic as well. And per one of your other videos, don't be afraid to go long, as I for one know I like the longer stuff. Keep it up man! *edit: and I think the plant/rugs are sweet too.
I so love your stay calm way. It helps me to relax a bit in my own taking care of mom 24/7. I’ve traveled on the Chesapeake bay with wild experiences but also helped put the ceiling tiles in the simulator room and some other things at Piney Point when it was built. Ya never know when paths cross. So nice to meet you.
Really enjoy your content Joe. I hope you continue doing it and stick with the shorter installments. It seems like most TH-cam creators seem to make 20-30 minute videos but a lot of times I only have 10 minutes to sit down a watch so I end up abandoning good channels that are just too long. Look forward to the next one, God speed.
Another great video Joe. Brings back so many memories, good and bad, crossing the North Atlantic.... Much preferred being loaded down to the marks instead of light ship... I see a future Master Mariner in the making...
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Keep up the good videos. Peace and safe journeys to you and all your shipmates. oh, and, may you all have good food too
Portugal to Canada is such a long way, I’m looking forward to learning what that journey is for! Great videos, love watching them! Cheers from Scotland 🏴 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 👍
Many bulk carriers in ballast sail to Nova Scotia to take a load of aggregates. For us seamen, it means loading. I would say they are going to Aulds Cove. I have been there a few times when I was a seaman.
@@gervaisbilodeau8465 that’s fascinating Gervais, is that aggregate a commodity that Canada doesn’t posses? It must be a costly exercise to sail it there from Portugal 👍👍
Hey bro. Thanks for all your effort in filming and editing. I feel I can safely speak for the rest of the viewers in saying." longer videos would be just as fine, if not better". Its somewhat therapeutic watching labor being done , in your field. Maybe cause we never get to see what you guys do. Your underway. Your not just puffing your lips out and holding up 2 fingers OR bragging about the latest brand of pot OR telling story after story about U.F.O's. You actually have content worth sharing.
Nice job. Everyone needs a sanctuary, brother lol. I can see why you chose the deck over the engine room. I watched a video of an engineer and it was awesome but he was inside all the time. Question, what was the average temperature going across the North Atlantic? It didn’t look that cold.
I’m a seaman too, but I’m Ukrainian and i really enjoying watching your video. I switched on subtitle and try to study you native speaking))) good luck!
I back in the 1980s in the Navy we used to do sea bat and mail Bowie watch just a screw with the new guys is that something you do in the merchant marines
You`re right - a ship is meant to be put to sea, and it always made me edgy just before we were pulling the gangway cause I really looked forward to putting her to sea. Ports of call are good, sure, but with nobody around you at sea, it`s great.

High praise indeed.
Absolutely agree with you there. His work and finished product is fantastic.
100%…been hooked last couple days! Can’t wait to start my journey.
They are, but too short.
@@SallyT269 agreed - I'd watch an hour-long episode
love your vids joe i spent 41 years in the british merchant navy great memories
That Bosun's joke was a good one; I was particularly confused at first with the military helicopter!

Same with me! I served on two ships and three shore stations during my 12-years in the Navy.

Joe you've got some serious video making skills 🙌
You have really hit gold with the vlog series! They are turning out amazing. 👍👍 As good as any marine series on TH-cam!
I find these videos very relaxing. No cheesy music or animated voiceovers. Beautiful imagery. Calming. Thanks bro!
Thought I wouldn't like the short video format but it's perfect. Awesome channel.
Thanks Joe, I live vicariously through you. Keep ‘em coming! Thanks.
Love your videos brother. You certainly live a life of adventure.
I am retired US Navy and find a lot of soft memories in watching your videos. Softens the heart of this 75 year old.
I can’t express how good these videos are keep it up
I can’t wait to do this for a living. I’m going to document just like you Joe
Your vids are the best Joe. You're an excellent story teller.
The rug really ties the room together ;)
Joe; if a plant, rug and bath mat bring you domestic bliss then it's well worth every penny! #4 is as good as the others. Cheers!
That sunset, and then the shot of the calm day at sea look just amazing. 👍👍
I loved the end, Joey how he hell are ya. I can see your smile. Peace. Great channel!

Absolutely love the content Joe! Have you ever filmed what you pack when you leave for a boat? I think that would be a very interesting video!

As a Navy veteran I love seeing the MM side of the house! And you are a talented man, keep up the great videos!
Loved the shot from the bow, Joe. It felt like I could feel the pitch and roll. Nice job, man.

Thanks for taking us along on your journeys!!
Sanctuary is key. Well played.
You have a lot of natural talent in terms of video storytelling. Kudos bro!
Bad ass music bro. You can sure tell a story, smelled a little salt in my nose while watching.

super good videos. very nicely done. had to sub because of quality and content. funny about the bosun's being left in port!!!
Awesome music and love the calm somber edit!
I reckon if shipboard life doesn't work out, you've got interior decoration as a backup career there. Nice job.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Keep up the good videos. Peace and safe journeys to you and all your shipmates. oh, and, may you all have good food too
I enjoy the videos and I thank you for sharing them with us. My younger day as a fisherman runs through my mind when I see the open sea.

Good stuff Joe

Your voice is impressive and compatible to work in action movie
Appreciate you for help me understand that this something I want to do.
Same here! Your videos are the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. Hope to be a cadet in Piney Point as soon as possible.
You choice of music and editing was "on point" with this video.
Good video! How often do you see another ship in the middle of the ocean? And, do you see fish way out there in mid-ocean? Thanks...
No B%%%%t - just good honest interesting content, and always great on point music. Thank you!
