    It's pretty amusing how many of their issues could've been avoided by just checking the docs. Knowing there are chesto berries available, full encounter lists so you don't miss things like the Oldale encounter etc., can make a beginner Nuzlocker into a decent one so quickly. Don't mean to knock them at all lol it makes for fun content and that's the objective, but more just an encouraging comment to people interested in Nuzlocking to say that learning the process actually isn't too intimidating! You can improve very fast if Nuzlocking seems like a fun idea to you.

    I’ll be honest as a guy who’s both 1: beaten radical red hardcore mode. and 2: currently doing a mono flying run of unbound insane mode. Emerald Kaizo when described feels weirdly or rather makes me feel somewhat timid. i mean granted I don’t do nuzlockes but still.

    • @pedrodarosamello64
      @pedrodarosamello64 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kaizo and Radical Red are both difficult, but they do it in completely different ways, Rad.R. demands smart teams and use competent sets for the opponent, but it doesn't for the most part become straight up unfair.
      Kaizo is just for masochists, it specifically only gives you meh pokemon, removes YOUR access to good moves and abilities, while giving the enemy insane stuff (for example, it gives the opponent a version of yawn that works on the same turn, and it has enemy weather teams while giving you now way of undoing weather or changing it), to the point that it's probably impossible to beat it blind. It's pourpose of existence is going "how hard can I make a game, even if the result is not a good game", it sertainly has a reason to exist, but I recomend just watching videos of it like this one and never playing it.

    • @Thund3rDrag0n12
      @Thund3rDrag0n12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @pedrodarosamello64 EK is entirely possible to beat blind, just not with hardcore nuzlocke rules. It just requires a lot of trial and error. The thing about Kaizo games is that while you're able to strategize, change your team, etc. the AI is stuck only doing what it's programmed to do. Once you realize that and use it to your advantage, the game becomes not easy, but easier
      I also just like the Kaizo games because it's a pretty realistic depiction of what would happen if a 10 year old did go up against trainers that've been doing this since your parents were kids. They should have access to stuff you don't because they're the more experienced trainer

    Roxanne's team is so difficult that it being determined that having a level cap 1 level higher than it should be, (based on how the rules for hardcore nuzlockes normally work) says something about the team. However, it is also something I don't agree with and doing it at level 15 as every other hardcore nuzlocke is possible. (Just not likely.) Having the level cap at 16 instead of 15 screams "Too difficult, so I need to break a rule." It defeats the point. This isn't an attack but rather a challenge. I believe that nuzlockers can push the boundry just that much farther. It may take another 100 or 200 attempts. But I believe that it can be done at level 15.

    • @blufire70
      @blufire70 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can and has been done at level 15. But you need a full team of specific encounters. And what good is playing if you have to just reset 200 times to get a perfect team so you can beat it? It's already difficult enough on 16.

    • @Peelster1
      @Peelster1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blufire70 Who did it at level 15? Was it a full Lv 15, Lv 19 run? Did they also complete the full run afterward? I would love to watch it! Seeing how it has been done at 15, I think proves my point. IronMon also has an insane amount of resets. EK wasn't designed with Nuzlockeing in mind, but if someone is going for the full challenge, go for the full challenge no rule exceptions. 16 is the agreed upon standard but we also have documentation from hundreds of attempts now.

    • @Thund3rDrag0n12
      @Thund3rDrag0n12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Peelster1 Jan did it at level 15 several times before raising the cap 1 level because it was just too inconsistent otherwise. He'd beat Roxanne, wipe later on, then not beat Roxanne for like another 20 attempts because the encounters (and the stats you needed on those encounters) were way too specific. Ironmon is an apples to oranges comparison because not only are you using just 1 Pokemon and everything's random, which pretty much throws strategy out the window, but you can also change what Pokemon you can use. In a nuzlocke, you're stuck with what you got
      At the end of the day, nuzlockes are done for fun, not to see how much of a repetitive task you have a small chance of succeeding in you can endure.

      They took away any and all means for the player to change it. I believe they also did the same for the enemy but in some places, there's pre-set permanent weather. Like in the Lavaridge Gym which would otherwise be easy for Water, Rock and Ground types to blitz through but now have Water type moves essentially become neutral attacks and the usually slow Rock and Ground types and yes, also Water types be subject to get smashed with Solar Beams which is almost double the power of Hidden Power Grass (the AI can have specialized Hidden Power) that don't need to be charged thanks to perma-Sun. Also boosted Fire moves. Similarly with areas that have perma-Rain with 100% accurate Thunders and boosted Water moves.

    Bruh I beat this when I was 17. I get that this is supposed to be hard but Jesus learn how to play competitive Pokémon already. These youtubers do nuzlocks in the name of a challenge but are too scared to boot up Pokémon showdown even once. Absolutely pathetic.

    • @Thund3rDrag0n12
      @Thund3rDrag0n12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bruh get off your high horse. Being a nuzlocker and a competitive player requires rather different skillsets since one deals with AI patterns and the other deals with actual humans. A nuzlocke is about overcoming what's in front of you with whatever the game decides to give you. Competitive is about specifically building a team to function within a metagame where the top threats are already identified

    • @zan1971
      @zan1971 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thund3rDrag0n12
      Half correct. Competitive is building a team for specific teams I agree. However you also have to use your head. You can't just have a good team and expect to win. The opponent will still try their hardest to win despite a disadvantage. This is why competitive experience is so good. You get to experience both sides, the one who has a good team and the one who has a disadvantage. You'll still be pushed to your extremes to win either way. This is why I hate nuzlocks. It's like diluted competitive Pokémon. They play a game in the most weird way then struggle with the "hardest game". This is probably the level of play you can get on the lowest level of showdown ladder. If any of them used their heads and understood the good decisions to make then this would be a breeze. When you have youtubers who play nuzlocks struggling with the first fucking gym leader then you know they are doing something wrong.

    • @Thund3rDrag0n12
      @Thund3rDrag0n12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @zan1971 You're missing the point so hard right now. While nuzlockers have easier opponents they have to deal with, the trade-off is that they have, at absolute best, incredibly limited control over what Pokemon they're allowed to use. It's very much possible that due to your encounters, no amount of competitive experience will help you win a battle. Even in competitive there are 100-0 matchups.
      Not to mention that in nuzlockes, the AI usually isn't concerned with things like setting up/clearing hazards or other conditions that may give you an opening to do something in competitive play. 99% of the time they're just attacking, which is pretty hard to play around when the name of the game is letting as few Pokemon as possible faint. Sacrificing Pokemon is common in competitive but the last thing you wanna do in a nuzlocke

    • @zan1971
      @zan1971 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thund3rDrag0n12
      Which is exactly why it's dumb. Nuzzlockes are inherently anti competitive. You can't use a Pokémon you want because you can't catch it if you aren't lucky. You can't sack a Pokémon to win battles. You can't change your teams whenever you want for various strategies as the game opens up to you. It is literally the dumbest thing in existence. Of course they are gonna cry when trying the "hardest game" because they can't even play pokemon properly. These youtubers are dumb and the nuzzlocke challenge is inherently dumb, plain and simple.

    • @Thund3rDrag0n12
      @Thund3rDrag0n12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @zan1971 You can sack Pokemon, it just comes at a much heavier cost. You can change teams and strategies as soon as you catch more than 6 encounters. The success of many nuzlocke runs are based in these. Also, technically the proper way of playing Pokemon is 4v4 doubles since that's the official competitive format. The onky thing that makes nuzlockes non-competitve is the fact most of the time you're not looking to beat another person. You are the literal embodiment of the stereotypical Smogon elitist
