- (7/25/2011-4-23-2015) Enjoy as we take an elevaTOUR of the vintage Haughton / US elevators in the Allied Arts Building as well as the machine room as well as a look at the modernization that ThyssenKrupp did on them in 2014. I really hope you enjoy this elevaTOUR! as Ian (Cannycart) comes along on the 2011 part and a big thanks to Brendan (Appalachian Elevators) for the 2014 footage. The modification seemed intresting. ThyssenKrupp did a fairly good job. I'd say they worked hard.

To be honest I really like the new ThyssenKrupp elevators, especially the cabs. You would think that putting such modern fixtures on an old elevator would ruin it, but this particular job actually pulls it off. And of course, the video is awesome!
Elevation Station Productions the only thing I don't like. they should have carried the art deco look over to the elevator. the mod they did back in the eighties look eighties and now this mod looks 2000s. when they renovated the cab this time they should have given it more of an art deco appearance
***** This does look kinda art deco with the walls, but yeah they should have added more "art" to the deco.
That is exactly what I was thinking. The 80s us mod was NOT AT ALL fitting to a historic building like this.

Usually I like newer elevators better, but IMO, these were nicer and more fascinating when they were US elevators. I still think the mod is nice though. And yes I saw the hidden dieselducy!

Thanks for showing me a Simplex pull station! Looks like an older 2099 or 4099 single action pull station. The only major difference between a 2099 and a 4099 is that a 2099 is conventional while the 4099 is usually addressable, but can be converted to conventional after you receive it.
OH yeah :). I got alot of fire alarm fans that watch my videos. In the future, ill try to show fire alarm and related stuff in my videos when i film .

DieselDucy Yeah. It's better so it's feels like a historic place in Lynchburg.
I noticed that this building treats its viewers to a rare treat in Western culture: elevators that do not skip the 13th floor. With that said, another throwback video of you touring the elevators in the Lawyers Building in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania skips the 13th floor in its way up to 25.
The new mod looks better. Shame they locked the Basement and floors 10 - 17 :( . The view was great
Were the Haughton machines replaced by ThyssenKrupp when they did the mod? Also I think you should continue making the "hidden dieselducy's" cause I think its funny and cool at the same time. :D

there is a call cancel button but in the elmwood parking garage elevator there's no call cancel button.
Great video and tour! Btw, are these geared or gearless and what is the difference and is there a difference in the type of buildings they are used in (number of floors)?

Wow....after years of being on youtube they had to lock everything from 10 and above? That sucks. But other than that it IS a beautiful elevator.

Haughton originally then modded by US in 1971 than modded again by TKE
I think the old US fixtures fitted the overall look of the building better. ThyssenKrupp did a fine and dandy modernization job though.

I've mentioned this before but the US Elevator buttons were much easier to navigate for persons with cognitive disabilities or dementia/Alzheimer's like my dear Father. He can't handle the buttons with the number NEXT to the button... including the Impulse lowrise and highrise cars in our own apartment building... but has absolutely no trouble when the number is ON the button... in particular a few US originals still around town. I think this trend (which started with Impulse 29 years ago) is a mistake. A big part of an elevator's purpose is for accessibility.

I think the basement is going to be an underground restaurant and I think if you try again to go to the 17th floor you might have to have a badge with you and hopefully you can try to get a view on the 17th floor

At a building in Rockville MD there was this office building with US elevators that were modernized and now barely works and it’s very bad
Very nice elevators, and because of the upper floors being locked off, what are now on floors 10-17? Regular offices, communications rooms, or are they vacant? Also, why are floors 10-17 now locked?
+CaptainElevator42189 u can go up to 14 during business hours.
That's still good, so I guess 15-17 are either vacant or have communication rooms up there.
i did get up to 14 at about 4:00PM one day and 17 is cellular equipment not sure about 15-16
+CaptainElevator42189 17 is primarily leased to cell phone people as there are a bunch of cell antennas on top of this building.
So I guess it's now safe to say that going up to 17 is now history.

I think the manufacturer's name is pronounced Hall.ton. The " a" and" o" sounds are short.
