2020 and I still watchin all his vids. The way he is now.. is truly amazing. He took what he did, and grew. It takes a MAN to grow. To CHANGE. He did it all, and no matter what he did in the past, I'm proud of the MAN.
My Dad loved boxing. He was a quiet unassuming and kind man who worked hard from 14 and died too young. Every time I watch the great Mike Tyson fight, I always wish my Dad had lived to see him
The 1986-89 Mike Tyson was the greatest Heavyweight Champion whoever lived. He was the most ferocious brutal fighter I've ever seen. His career plummeted after Kevin Rooney was no longer his trainer.
Speed beat power the problem was Tyson has crazy speed and crazy power very hard to see, as you say for me in his prime was the best of the best...imposible to beat Tyson in that time.
Age beat him, and prison... nothing to do with his trainer. He was never in the same shape when he came back. Looked good, pretty good power, but he was not as on target and as lightning fast and brutal as he was in his prime. He was just an old dog by that time trying to maintain his glory days
@@jasonhensley2086 He left Kevin Rooney before he went to prison, and he went with Don King that was his down fall. He stopped training like he had always trained. And it cost him, it tarnished his legacy.
I agree with you Jason but the lack of Kevin Rooney as his trainer did have something to do with it. He didn't have Kevin Rooney as his trainer when he fought Buster Douglas. That day Buster Douglas fought Mike Tyson Buster Douglas could've gone toe to toe with anybody. He fought a brilliant fight.
In retrospect we can all really see and witness how truly great of a boxer Tyson was. People used to say back in the day that he was just a puncher and he fought a bunch of bums. He fought guys that were way bigger and heavier than him. He was a small heavyweight, his speed power and boxing style could not be challenged. He is in my mind the best ever!!
In retrospect he never had a big career defining victory. He cleared out an aging middle of the road division of the late 80's and is a top 10 to 15 all time heavy weight. He isn't the best and he isn't top 5. Mike needed a big win against another great fighter close to their prime. His career defining victories are over Spinks and an older Larry Holmes. Not enough. That's really the retrospective on Mike. He sure was exciting though.
@@thechad3239 How would you know ? Based on what ? Because he beat Tony Tucker and Trevor Berbick ? We really have nothing to go on except that he wasnt unbeatable, he dominated a weak division and never beat another great fighter. Wilders pretty inconsequential to the argument.
@@thechad3239 But I do agree an 85 to 88 Tyson was capable of beating any HW ever, I just have my doubts on whether he would have or not. Does he beat Ali, Joe Frazier, Foreman ? These are all great great fighters. Tyson never got in the ring against fighters of that ilk and when he did, he lost. It's all speculation so we can only go on what he did accomplish and the defining victory of his prime years was vs Michael Spinks.
Iron Mike Tyson.. what can critics and analysts say... But utter dominance. His bob and weave technique and side to side foot movement to position himself for the devastating combos nad power. Ive watched every fight of his i could ever find. And never in boxing history even when fights would last 50 to 75 rounds. Back in Jack Johnson days of bare knuckle boxing. Tyson is like a black hole in the 80's and 90's a once in a lifetime fighter. Never will we ever see another boxer. The only close one is Tommy "The Machine Gun" Morrison. Who had the gift like tyson but HIV stopped his career before he was just like Tyson. GOAT. And true ledgend of the squared circle and icon to all ture pugilists, past history, present and future Boxes
I could watch Tyson all day. Poetry in motion - blistering hand speed, faultless footwork and head movement. Dodging shots so easily that seasoned pros were made to look like clumsy amateurs. You can only have utter respect for all of Tyson's opponents, though - to know that, right from the first bell, he is going to come for you and he is not going to stop or go backwards. To know that you are going to face the most ferocious and relentless onslaught you will ever face, from probably the most dangerous fighter to ever put a pair of gloves on.....and is if that wasn't frightening enough, he was nearly impossible to hit back cleanly ! Tyson was every shade of awesome !!
I remember turning on the Tyson- Buster Douglas fight 30 years ago on the way out of the house one night. I thought I'd be able to quickly see Mike knock out another "palooka" in the 1st or 2nd round. I ended up being stunned for 10 rounds, watched the end, and never made my appointment that night. I came real close to not watching at all, since up to that point, Tyson was "invincible." Never forget it.
Yea, when he left the people that were with him since the beginning he started slacking off the training. Buster looked like he could have beat any heavyweight in history on that night.
Who hasn't got memories growing up in the 80's/90's getting woken up by your dad to come and watch a Tyson fight? Now my dad is passed away but the memories i have of them nights are priceless to me now. Thanks dad may you rest in peace.

Skyjuice70 Tyson would have a very difficult time landing anything on Ali. Ali was inhuman with speed and reflexes, and a scientific boxer. I think Ali would beat Tyson on points. If Tyson landed, it’s lights out.
And Wilder who lost badly tonight said he could beat a prime Tyson? Best joke ever in history. NO heavy weight could move like Tyson while in that speed he had! Amazing... You dont see that anymore
@@miguelmartinez-go6mb You obviously never watched Tyson fight then, & most likely a millennial. Hell, even a 17 year old Tyson would beat Wilder at all stages of his career, regardless of what he added to his arsenal. Mike would bully him, shorten the distance, and his rifle useless....just Fury did. There are very few years in the last 100 years, where Wilder would have been able to claim the title. He could have beat Lion Spinks, or Primo Carnera, or Buster Douglas....not many others come to mind though. There hasn't been a legit heavyweight champ for nearly all of the 21st century....not since Lennox Lewis was done in 2003. Prime Mike Tyson destroys the prime of any other fighter in their prime. He wasn't even human for a stretch there.
I remember the 1st fight he had with Bruno i can't recall what round it was but Frank caught him with a beauty and rocked Tyson in his prime and Tyson admitted that was the hardest punch he took.
When Mike had that spring-loaded, constant lateral head movement, he was unbeatable -- when he got older and heavier, and was just wading in looking to blast with a loaded-up hook, bigger men could use their size. But in his prime, you just could not find your range with that guy, and he put those hook and uppercut combos together with vicious, alien demon-robot precision. How dare they challenged him with their somewhat primitive skills, indeed. They were just as good as dead.
Wilder is Tyson. Their starts are very similar and how a fighter eventually broke through the wave of rage and punching power. By taking punisent, getting to the middle rounds then making them really box.
Tyson is best known for boxing but what about comedy? Believe it or not he is hilarious! I watched the Mike Tyson Mystery Team several times and it never gets old.

@@sg3596 I don't think you know much about boxing. When did Holyfield fight Tyson? After he'd spent 4 years incarcerated and inactive. Tyson's career post-prison is never a a valid measure of his ability, unless you're just a critic who wants to take pot shots for the sake of it. I wonder how Holyfield, Lennox, Buster Douglas, etc would have performed after 4 years in prison, when at the peak of their powers. Perhaps you can answer that.
some people can hate but trust me, he wasn’t the only feared boxer in the boxing ring. He was the most feared man in the planet. No one wanted to mess with tyson... NO ONE 😂
Holyfield looks like a nice person even when destroying someone but About fear, Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran had some years, 3 or more, with out being able to find someone that wanted to fight him because of how hard his punches were.
@Hunter Lanning . That's true but my lord didn't that man light up the sporting world. You would have thought one of the many boxing gyms would have taken him on as a trainer for the next generation of fighters.
Mike was so aggressive, but he was also ridiculously elusive. Look at how casually he evades Ribalta at 16:55 before delivering the finishing combo. He was nearly impossible to hit, and he did it WHILE he was coming at you at full speed with his fists cocked. Imagine how impossible that would be to counter.
I have always believed that the toughest fighter of all time was Jack Johnson because of how they had to fight back then and how many rounds. It was brutal. I think the most polished and marketable fighter of all time has to be Ali. But the greatest of all time is clearly Mike Tyson. There has never been a better trained, more ferocious fighter in the history of the sport. By far, THEE most dangerous boxer ever and one of the coolest Brothers you will ever meet. That foreman took off 20yrs from boxing return in his 40s and was knocking out opponent in their 20s and 30s. You are right. Imagine foreman in his prime. Tyson wouldn't stand a chance.
Mike had incredible power, but what sets him apart is his insane speed, he moves like a welterweight
Very true definitely
He looks really fast to his fat ass opponents that’s for sure
You said it. Agree 150%. That's what made him scary in his prime. You could see the great on the eyes of most that fought him. He should be "the greatest"... Not Ali
Also - he did meet a lot of "drunk sailors".................
And his ability to dodge pucnhes

Ali in his PRIME would knock him out in the 8th round
Holyfield?
@@s.sarjonmahmud6231 No doubt Ali would land several jabs. But after a few blows from Tyson, Ali would struggle. In the end, I believe Tyson would come out on top. Look at what Tyson did to Larry Holmes! Yes Larry was 38 at the time of their fight, but he was still a top-notch challenger! Personally, I consider Holmes, on a good day, to be every bit as good as Ali. His boxing stats prove this!
When Mike said, "Even though a lot of you don't like to hear it, it's facts.. I'm the best! Sometimes I don't believe it myself, but its the truth!" I felt that in the pit of my soul.

Tyson was fighting. The dudes aura was scary. I was frightened in my living room. The man was legitimately terrifying in every way, and the world felt it. You had to be there...
2020 and I still watchin all his vids.
The way he is now.. is truly amazing. He took what he did, and grew. It takes a MAN to grow. To CHANGE. He did it all, and no matter what he did in the past, I'm proud of the MAN.
Sonny Liston turned cops upside-down and threw'em in garbage cans..for real.
Tyson foi um excelente atleta.
Rapidez, agilidade e força.
Não houve nenhum melhor depois dele.
@@lskiller1903 I don't give a shit about Rooney, he was irrelevant to my comment.
I'd say Ali is the best ever but Tyson's up there
In retrospect he never had a big career defining victory.
@@DoggieNYC Mike in his prime could of beat any boxer I can think of. I mean for example Wilder would get knocked out in first round.

Mike was the best boxer I’ve seen he was a fast fucker not only fast but the punches where deadly
Ali stated he was scared of Tyson. He wasn't joking around btw!

That is what we call perfection. I have watched this man since I was ten, I am 46 now and I love the guy.

Maybe you need to go watch some clips and refreshen your memory with how many heads Tyson put to bed with the quickness in the 80s...and these were BIG DUDES. Far bigger dudes than what Ali fought at his size.
I agree I have yet to see anything like Tyson in his prime
If wilder had a jab and footwork he would beat prime tyson
Fury wouldn’t have beat Tyson either to fast for him .i bet mike would love to have a go at him even now ..

There will never be another person that will train like Mike Tyson did , if they do they will also become famous
I remember the 1st fight he had with Bruno i can't recall what round it was but Frank caught him with a beauty and rocked Tyson in his prime and Tyson admitted that was the hardest punch he took.
Ya, I remember that. Tyson admitted it was the first time he'd been rocked.
Great highlight featuring Tyson's power and ferocity
I wish he is a weak ferret of a man
Tyson, as time passes is like a fine wine, he’s super cool.
The look on his face,as he goes forward to touch gloves, is not of apprehension, uncertainty or fear - just a hint of sadness for his opponent.
He looks extremely centered, like he has no thoughts.
@@quito85869 He said he has only the singular intent to cause grievous bodily harm. ( Like a Grizzly 🐻)
Mike Tyson his punch as a solid big hammer
When Mike had that spring-loaded, constant lateral head movement, he was unbeatable -- when he got older and heavier, and was just wading in looking to blast with a loaded-up hook, bigger men could use their size. But in his prime, you just could not find your range with that guy, and he put those hook and uppercut combos together with vicious, alien demon-robot precision.
How dare they challenged him with their somewhat primitive skills, indeed. They were just as good as dead.
Christopher Carr very well said

Always respected the guys who where courageous enough to go on the ring, fighting that punch machine. Freaky.
