Having the exact same issue. I tried your suggestions and still not working. I bought the New GT dongle as they were sold out of the VT units, but same freaking issue. So I reinstalled the driver and then rebooted the PC which seemed to fix it. Thanks for making this video, Bro. Saved me a lot of frustration.
I have a obdXpro using it on a gen Iv LS and I followed you exactly still gives me the same error idk what I’m doing wrong but it’s really annoying me 😅
do you think a gt pcm from a 2004 grand am gt can work with a se version bcm? Trying to turn vats off in which pro reads and writes but the car still has a no crank/security light on. same as before the no vats bin
no clue... those are completely different PCMs. if you turned off VATS and still no crank could be a BCM problem or issue with the key and alarm system.
@@pawpatina The car has an se bcm in it and i think no matter what i try isn't going to help. The bcm's were non programmable. My old bcm(gt) went to shit and the junkyard sold me se versions and told me they were gt. It runs but theres a lot of differences in the bins hence why i want my gt pcm back in there.
Same problem here but after all-day trying I managed to read the bin , was set as Device j2534 I did all what you did trying to work it out , download drivers , Bluetooth I'm using the obdx pro gt But can't get it to work again Trying what you did it only list USB serial device doesn't show obdx Anyway nearly over it now lol
Along with getting the timeout message when attempting to retrieve the VIN I get the following right when I connect. So I am assuming that it is not able to read any thing from the ECM Connecting (VPW)... Voltage: 12.0V Elm ID: ELM327 v1.4b ScanTool Device ID: STN2255 v5.9.4 Timeout requesting OS This is on a tuned 2007 lmm duramax using an OBDlink MX+ I have tried the OBD software and it will read the VIN and all that it is designed for so I know physically it will communicate just not sure why PC hammer can't read it or even the logger function in universal patcher. Any advice??
Either it's a newer 07 if you don't hav the "classic" truck OR its bricked and will need the internal pin grounded during the read option. search for "unbricking 0411", ground the pin and within 15 seconds of grounding, do a read all.
Thanks for the info. It is a new body style, diesel and was programmed with what I am guessing was an EFI Live file back in the day. They guy that did it is no longer around and I was hoping to just have a backup and be able to have full access to all the various parameters that can be set, disabled and so on. Sad thing is, you can't expect anyone to take up the motorhead hobby if you can't access and modify the software that runs the machine.
@@SM-hy4np efilive is most likely locked. you can use the ground pin to set it in restore mode and flash it with a stock file but again would need HPTuners to do it since pcmhammer doesn't support it.
i have never had any luck with pc hammer connecting to my obdlink lx. every other software pairs right up to it no problem pcm hammer on the other hand will not connect. error code: not initialized yet: what the heck does that mean? anyway thanks for sharing your struggles with pcm hammer. I wish there was an alternative

if your laptop has working bluetooth, yes. but not until its selected correctly in the drop down as shown.

Also last time I checked, PCMhammer doesn't work on diesel. or at least no one has an XDF file for the Duramax bins...
Lastly if it is tuned, its probably tuner locked since the EPA forced everyone to follow the rules.

you may be selecting the wrong drop down. its not a j2534 device. select the other option.
otherwise you didnt install the obdlink driver properly
I (and many others) make $100 almost daily using pcmhammer with an obdlink VX so its not the programs fault. its user error.
Can you tell me on my vx what's a file error code mean brand new to this
