As a Roman Catholic seminarian from New York, in 1999 we had a Palestinian Christian tour guide from Dan to Beersheba. He was excellent. The crap he would get and have to negotiate for our group to approach many of the Christian sites was maddening. I was 32 and he would have been around 28. I had a simple wooden cross on a string around my neck and I was asked/told by an Israeli man to put it in my shirt in order to approach the Western Wall to say a prayer. I'm long out of the priesthood. I wonder how and where he might be today. I came home innocently with a Palestinian keychain and caught a tense comment from a Starbucks barista. (I've also not been to a Starbucks in a long time.)

This brought tears to my eyes as I can so relate to what she said. I'm over 60 and consider myself well educated and well read. Yet, I too was kept completely in the dark as to what has occurred since the Zionists took over this land. I was never taught a thing about the suffering imposed upon the Palestinian people who were living peacefully amongst their neighbors until Zionism came into the picture. Nor did I fully understand the scriptures and how they've been misinterpreted until I was forced to address them to assure myself, after pushback, that I was taking the right stand. Since a child in the '70s and a Christian in a mild sort of way but not personally saved at the time, I also knew that Palestinians lived under occupation yet had lived there freely before 1948.
It was wrong in my child's mind and remained wrong
I didn't have to research or read an see everyday horrors of the Palestinians to know Right from Wrong .
I also knew the Holocaust was wrong & could not fathom how victims of one crime would so happily victimise another.
It was beyond my mind to be able to understand any sort of Zionism that actually required others to suffer.

my aunt was born in 1948 and i was shocked to discover she had no idea Israel was an apartheid state and illegal occupied territory. she was talking about how Israel is necessary because of what happened during the holocaust, and i brought up to her whats been happening the past 75 years and she just looked at me like i was crazy... she's otherwise a very well-read and rational person. she used to tell me how americans at the time of the holocaust had no idea it was happening because the media hid the truth from the public, nobody knew it was going on.. i'm getting her the roald dahl book "going solo" as a gift because she's interested in history stuff like that, and it's one of the few books that actually mentions palestine as a real place right around the time when it first started becoming colonized. for as much as a history buff my aunt is this stuff somehow totally went past her radar.

My only answer is that it was either off my radar or being an avid reader, reading biographies of many who stood out in history one book I read was about Golda Meir. I bought the narrative in that book, hook, line and sinker and never questioned it until a few months before Oct 7th. I started to see coverage of settlers just taking homes and land from Palestinians and thought to myself, well that's just totally wrong.
Since doing more research, I now know the truth and like you, see clearly what is right and what is wrong. I'd been lied to and have sought forgiveness of man and God for my total ignorance and wrong thinking.

I am a Christian. I do not support cruelty of any sort and neither does Jesus Christ. God is a wonderful , kind and patient Father to us all. And Jesus offers us everlasting joy and peace for the small price of repentance.
A number of times I was near harm and God saved me supernaturally. Ever since then and even before God provides for me and things just appear when I need them. So I know how kind God is. I saw my future. God is beyond deserving of the whole world getting on their knees and worshipping Him. And Christ is beyond kind and sacrificial, wanting the best for everyone and for everyone to love each other and live in peace.
The gospel of Christ is a wonderful and beautiful and non-violent message and it is so, so, true.
