Soon as I saw only one diy video on this topic, using baby powder my first tought was gypsum. I think I will expreriment a little bit. Thank you for posting!
I’m more to this whole media thing as I’m a card maker but I like the idea that if I wanted a more dimensional paste I could just add more plaster of Paris! Great video! Smart! Tfs!

Hello. Does plaster of paris crack after its dried? I made texture paste with pottery plaster, water, glue and paint but it comes off the canvas easily.
Its very nice paste. It looks very smooth. Can we use it on cardboard for making them strong and then start doing mud and mirror art or lippan art or any other painting? Plz reply
It would work on cardboard if you paint cardboard with a couple of coats of gesso first ( make with equal parts of white glue, white acrylic paint and talcum powder)

How about calcium carbonate instead of plaster of paris? I make my own fabulous chalk paint with calcium carbonate and latex paint and a little water, so I'm thinking the same recipe only thicker for stencil texture and just adding Elmer's glue? I'm not sure what the glue does, is it a hardener?
I’ve done texture painting on canvas and it doesn’t need gesso, of course of never used homemade medium, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work without gesso
