On Thursday, June 29, 2023, Sara Della Ripa , Christophe MUMARAGISHYIKA , and Aimable Uwimana embarked on a four-day adventure that would change their lives forever. Dubbed “Les Mugenzi on Congo Nile Trail,” this adventure was inspired by Aimable Uwimana's completion of the inaugural 250KM Breast Cancer Awareness Bike Ride Challenge in October 2022. Having conquered 175 KM out of 250 KM of the Challenge in Burera District in October 2021, this great time of cyclist knew it had to take on an even greater challenge, and the Congo Nile Trail was the perfect choice.
Les Mugenzi On Congo Nile Trail had two major objectives: to celebrate 29 years of Rwanda’s liberation and to further Mugenzi's mission of creating a physically active community, in urban and rural Rwanda, engaged in health promotion campaigns focused on cancer awareness, advocacy, research and social support.
From the picturesque shores of Lake Kivu in Rubavu and the challenging hills of Rutsiro to the breathtaking views of the Gisovu Tea Plantation and Nyungwe National Park in Karongi, and the thrilling downhills of Nyamasheke and Rusizi in Kamembe, we experienced the true beauty and spirit of 1000 hills of Rwanda in just four days. This life-changing adventure was filled with unforgettable moments, and we want you to join us in reliving every exciting detail.
