My name is Rodion and I present to your attention a large video about the construction of my dugout far from civilization.
This is my first experience in building a house underground. For construction I use only old, fallen trees.
However, using such materials I was able to make a truly warm and cozy home in which you can spend the coldest winter days.
In this video you will see step-by-step construction from start to finish. I spent 6 months of work building this without anyone's help.
It is worth noting that this place in the forest is very remote from civilization and it is difficult to deliver any things here, so it took me several days to deliver the stove.
It took me a whole month to dig a hole for the dugout, since the soil is very hard. I hope you enjoy my work and teach you something. Enjoy watching!

A lot of people are making harsh comments. I’m guessing 99% of those people have never done anything like this themselves. Dude is doing this for the first time and letting us watch from the comfort of our homes. This shit looks hard af! And you make mistakes pretty much anytime you do something for the first time. At least he’s giving it a go.
P.S. for those who say it’s not a dugout because it’s not completely underground…you’re thinking of a cave. This is absolutely a dugout.

From what I understand moss or sod is pretty good insulation. Especially when you don’t have a DIY store nearby and have to do things like our ancestors did. And whatever is lacking in insulation is more than made up for in thermal mass. Those giant logs store and regulate heat incredibly well. Especially since they are covered with soil on the bottom half.
Amazing build. What is the name of the spikes or nails you used to hold the log together? Would like to find some but it seems that you need to know the right name for them.

Id find a spot and bring in a skidsteer to dig hole and place logs.
Very nice one thing that would worry me is flooding I would have to have some leach lines to take water away but maybe you don't have these probleme
