    Chinese here, just came across your China videos and love them. I don't know why you didn't have the chace to visit China in the last 18 years but I hope you can come back and explore more parts of China in the future. BTW, I went to Purdue in 2001 and got my master degree in industrial engineering there, one of the best memory and experience my life. Now I live in Shanghai. Oh, one more thing, I lived and worked in Fuzhou for one whole year after graduating from college in Beijing. I did the whole graduate school application in Fuzhou😊.

      aw hello fellow purdue alum and thank you for writing such a sweet comment! there were a lot of reasons why i couldn’t visit earlier, but now that i started working and can travel more independently i’m planning to go back more often and experience more of china :)

    You DID pay attention to the horizontal balance in every footage, this beats 99% other vloggers. And the perfect saturation and accurate explosion, plus the beautiful lowercased title font, watching this video is really a delightful and peaceful journey. Subscribed.

    Hello Christina, thanks for the nostalgia. Glad you reconnected with family.
    I too haven’t been back in a long time. 40 years lol. And also form Fuzhou. We had hoped to go back a few years ago but the pandemic happened. I hope to go in a couple years. It’s time. The China I left in 1983 was poor and backwards. I can’t believe it’s now a superpower. I hope it uses its power for good :)

    The village at the beginning is exactly where my family is from. I literally recognize the market (pink tile building)

      中国 KFC 都好吃,KFC 到每个地方都有默认些微差异,比如四川偏辣,重庆麻辣,陕甘宁也有区别。甚至每个地方都与独特的地方饮食,比如猪脚饭啥的。

    Though Fuijians have created their home away from home in Flushing/queens NYC, motherland with their 1000's of years of culture can't be replaced. And now that China is a very modern & advanced country, the love-hate feelings will go away, just like the Japanese was looked down on until 1970's technology boom and it changed, now it's China's turn to make their people feel pride around the world.

    Your video is so interesting and touching. It raises a question in my mind. How do Chinese people who are in US since a small kid can maintain their culture? Do you guys really connect with your origin like playing traditional games (Fight the Landlord i guess)?

    • @bychristinali
      @bychristinali  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i think it’s different for everyone! mostly through food, stories told by parents/grandparents, celebrating traditional holidays, or growing up with other kids who have similar backgrounds :) and yes i have played the landlord card game haha

      @@bychristinali Oh thank u for your response. It makes me open-minded. I am curious that what may be the differences or gaps between Chinese living in Mainland and Chinese diaspora in the US? Really want to hear some pov from you and other viewers.
