Pure color map tips: White map: Use snow. Perhaps even find an ice plains biome to make your life a lot easier. (Level the floor, wait for snow.) Blue map: find a really big ocean, and remove any islands if needed. Gray map: Fly over the void (500 0) in the end and open a map there.
The Matrix hallway is the most genius thing I've seen in Minecraft to date. 100% worth whatever effort and resources are required. The reaction from the other hermits will be the payoff.
With the white room, you should place only one door but make a hole just before the door so that the hermit will fall into ANOTHER white room and will get lost... (Pure torture) (also it should be a tag consequence)

Grian i know how, how to fix the water elevator. Just put two water source blocks next to the one that disappears and it will regenerate. Basically make infinite water sources there
Probably better to suck out 3 source blocks with empty buckets at the level you selected and push a block in above your head to stop water from above. Then have pressure plates out the front that put the block and water back to their original positions.
since the dots would get smaller over distances, it'd still allow you to gauge the size and shape of the room and to get a bearing so it wouldn't have the effect of being in an infinite space.
The room at the end looked so cool! Why don't u make an architechs base in a room like this with some chairs and stuff so u can discuss ideas with Mumbo

Would snow work? It easily made in bulk and it's white. Also for your elevator, could you use water logged stairs? Not to push you, but on the right and the left of the blocks that disappear so it recreates the source block?
grian and mumbo should make a tag protection center- for a certain fee in diamonds, you can have an expert help you make a plan for evading taggers, including secret base exits and such

@Grian Hey, I really liked how the last several episodes have gone. This one especially was a good mix of the update & progress, but also building activities that I appreciate. This is a bit more of what I like to see. Loving the tower, it no longer resembles the Blender or Flower Pot as had been teased before. But, can you do a video covering those "wizards" and how they broke through the bedrock in the nether? I think THAT would be a GREAT place to do your Matrix "white room" maze - and maybe a Nether Portal "transportation hub" IN a white room with corridors to different places - if the portals will sync up that way (still not very good with the nether region.) But hey, it was a great episode on top of several good episodes - and loved the tagging & teasing, too!!!

Just get a snow goelem, put fences around it and take a shove and harvest the snow under it. As you will harvest it, a new snow layer will appear, so you just need to hold right click and you will get a tonne of snowballs. From that just craft a snow block by making a 2X2 square.
Just have the blocks NEXT to the ones the pistons push be water sources, they will automatically turn back into sources If you need an illustration imagine W=water B=Block P=water with a piston behind it BBWBB BWPWB BWPWB BBWBB With this setup you don't need dispenser because when P gets removed, it immediately gets replaced when the piston retracts

The beam ending in a glass orb at top would be pretty cool. Ooh! And maybe some sort of ASTEROID BELT type ruble floating around the top in a circle shape would look sinister and futuristic. The 3 towers just feel like they should be holding a floating orb at the top. Also, the white room is amazing. Love it.
You can do it: In the End (Black) in the water (blue) in a Snow boime like Hail Blaze said if it’s big enough, build it(white) or maybe a desert for yellow, you would just have to take out the shrubs and level it a little....
hoo and when he does get alla the colure, lets do a maze of pure colure, every diraction or part, have it in diffrent colure or just randomiz it from door to door, maby a rainbow pattern like room with the colure he have at his disposel, could be fun xD
The end would be the only one that would work well enough, because it has no terrain differences, but if you are going for white, the snow biome could work, or just get tons of snow layers on the nether ceiling.

Grian, for the problem with your water elevator, all you have to do is make the dispensers fire first and then you'll have buckets of water then the pistons fire and push the player out then, the dispensers fire again after the pistons have retracted and you bubble column is fine! (If you do read this, I hope it makes sense)

grian for your multi-level elevator, you could just use empty buckets in the dispensers, and then activate them before the pistons are pushed. That way, the water will be stored inside the dispensers, and then after the player is pushed, activate them a second time
I am horrible at redstone, but you gave me an idea. Instead of using pistons to push you out in the elevator. Why not sure dispensers to suck away the water source canceling the bubbles on the floor you want to get out on? Then the water sources could be replaced for another floor. I use water buckets in micro farms, it should work the same.
The pistons pushing you out automatically is a nice effect. And easy to fix -- get rid of the dispensers, instead replace it with water source blocks, and put water source blocks on the other side. That way the water source blocks in the elevator shaft will automatically regenerate!
Base suggestion: have a layer of gardens on the roof Map suggestion: you can cut maps to decrease the size of the mapped area, thus the resources required to make it white.(shears and the map in crafting grid)

Grian change your bucket list sign for mumbo to say "cheat sum ambush moves" its an anagram of shave mumbos mustache, just in case he stumbles in your base
Place 2 water source on the left and right of the elevator floors, so.. when you are push by the piston out, the water will become source block again, and the top floors will work as well. And you can create a item hopper timer for the delay for pistons. So you will have 3 imputs for your floors and 3 hopper timers for the pistons. Ask Mumbo to create that, i think is not that hard to do. Good luck!
#elevatoridea the level that you want to go to, immediately on top of that on the side of the glass tube, have a dispenser with an empty bucket. When you press the button to a floor, the dispenser immediately above that floor will take out the water source leaving flowing water immediately above where you want to go. Bubbles will only push you up to that flowing water, you pop out, and after a delay, the dispenser dispenses the filled bucket again, leaving you with a full bubble column. Pistons on servers can be lagged meaning you may zip by it, before it pushes you out. :D
Hey Grian, with your water elevator, you could replace the blocks you are using to push the player out of the elevator with a block able to be waterlogged, such as a closed trapdoor or fences. That won't break the water source, making the elevator much simpler.
It's so amazing to watch this bit about the elevator now, when Impulse has just developed one that does let you select your floor. With utterly absurd redstone.
You need a bunch of beacons in the center of your base, that thing looks like a citadel thingy Also, a waterlogged stair source block thing may work for you. I think mumbo made a greifing machine that made source blocks as it went along.
I think you can also use snow for the white room, you should just let a bunch of snow golems roam around a flat enclosed area. That'll save you some resources.
Use this white map room for as a portal to a different world, like you fall through the floor in a closet, and then they see the door and go through it, entering into a new world
Grian, i have a solution for the elevator! -The problem with the water sources and the pistons is that you "eliminate" them (or however it should be called) and then the dispensers dispense them again emptying themselves and remaining without water for the next time someone uses the elevator. -The solution: when you hit the button for a floor the dispensers should take the water sources before the pistons push the person out the elevator and then put the water back inside. (I don't know how to do this, but this comment should save thinking time to mumbo so he makes it work) Ps: I'm so sorry if you struggle with trying to understand me, english is not my mother language.
Nah, that should be fairly easy. Just leave empty buckets in the dispenser, power them, power the pistons, wait till the pistons unpower, then repower the dispensers.
You don't need dispensers. Just use the infinite water source principle and put a source block at both sides. It'll fill itself. I recently made a design like that: i.imgur.com/Cu0pg9d.png (it retracts the soul sand block when the button is pressed. No specific added delays. Super simple, really)
Redstone help squad to the rescue! An easy fix for your elevator is to use a block that can become waterlogged (when the pistons retract the water source blocks remain)
PLEASE TEST ON CAMERA I'm remembering a 1.13.0 video saying the source block disappears when slab/stairs pulled out or perhaps it was when pushed in... that also mentioned 1.13.1 update but not sure if they reported update fixed problem or if they complained it didn't get fixed in 1.13.1.... so testing is only way to be sure
you could make a big pen and fill it with snow golems and go AFK for ages, and they would do most of the white for you - snow does work right?, then you could fill the rest by hand, but it would not be nearly as much work....
I've followed your channel for a while, and this is the first time watching Hermitcraft, loving the base build so far, I'm reaaallly tempted to skip to a later episode to see the finished project, but forcing myself to watch in order. No thats not how it works, if the water falls down it wont create a source block, so he could only make* one a source

With this setup you don't need dispenser because when P gets removed, it immediately gets replaced when the piston retracts
You can even use waterlogged stairs or slabs in 1.13 so you can't actually move into those gaps.

You can do it: In the End (Black) in the water (blue) in a Snow boime like Hail Blaze said if it’s big enough, build it(white) or maybe a desert for yellow, you would just have to take out the shrubs and level it a little....
Or just use a snow golem and get infinite snow to build it where he wants.

Grian, for the problem with your water elevator, all you have to do is make the dispensers fire first and then you'll have buckets of water then the pistons fire and push the player out then, the dispensers fire again after the pistons have retracted and you bubble column is fine! (If you do read this, I hope it makes sense)

If you use slabs instead of full blocks it won't break the water sources. Stairs can be used as well

grian for your multi-level elevator, you could just use empty buckets in the dispensers, and then activate them before the pistons are pushed. That way, the water will be stored inside the dispensers, and then after the player is pushed, activate them a second time

I am horrible at redstone, but you gave me an idea. Instead of using pistons to push you out in the elevator. Why not sure dispensers to suck away the water source canceling the bubbles on the floor you want to get out on? Then the water sources could be replaced for another floor. I use water buckets in micro farms, it should work the same.
The pistons pushing you out automatically is a nice effect. And easy to fix -- get rid of the dispensers, instead replace it with water source blocks, and put water source blocks on the other side. That way the water source blocks in the elevator shaft will automatically regenerate!

Place 2 water source on the left and right of the elevator floors, so.. when you are push by the piston out, the water will become source block again, and the top floors will work as well. And you can create a item hopper timer for the delay for pistons. So you will have 3 imputs for your floors and 3 hopper timers for the pistons. Ask Mumbo to create that, i think is not that hard to do. Good luck!

#elevatoridea the level that you want to go to, immediately on top of that on the side of the glass tube, have a dispenser with an empty bucket. When you press the button to a floor, the dispenser immediately above that floor will take out the water source leaving flowing water immediately above where you want to go. Bubbles will only push you up to that flowing water, you pop out, and after a delay, the dispenser dispenses the filled bucket again, leaving you with a full bubble column. Pistons on servers can be lagged meaning you may zip by it, before it pushes you out. :D
Hey Grian, with your water elevator, you could replace the blocks you are using to push the player out of the elevator with a block able to be waterlogged, such as a closed trapdoor or fences. That won't break the water source, making the elevator much simpler.

Grian, i have a solution for the elevator!
-The problem with the water sources and the pistons is that you "eliminate" them (or however it should be called) and then the dispensers dispense them again emptying themselves and remaining without water for the next time someone uses the elevator.
-The solution: when you hit the button for a floor the dispensers should take the water sources before the pistons push the person out the elevator and then put the water back inside.
(I don't know how to do this, but this comment should save thinking time to mumbo so he makes it work)

Nah, that should be fairly easy. Just leave empty buckets in the dispenser, power them, power the pistons, wait till the pistons unpower, then repower the dispensers.
You don't need dispensers. Just use the infinite water source principle and put a source block at both sides. It'll fill itself.
I recently made a design like that: i.imgur.com/Cu0pg9d.png (it retracts the soul sand block when the button is pressed. No specific added delays. Super simple, really)
Just drop the piston idea and use dispensers to remove the water source, then replace it after enough time to walk out.

An easy fix for your elevator is to use a block that can become waterlogged (when the pistons retract the water source blocks remain)

I'm remembering a 1.13.0 video saying the source block disappears when slab/stairs pulled out or perhaps it was when pushed in... that also mentioned 1.13.1 update but not sure if they reported update fixed problem or if they complained it didn't get fixed in 1.13.1.... so testing is only way to be sure
