IT....we used to call it Data Processing when I started 50 years ago. Raised in Oklahoma, now living in Arlington, Texas. I'm not a quilter per se, I've made a sampler close to 18 years ago. I need to make more, but I still work full time. I'm really getting started watching the videos - every time I get a few minutes to myself. I've heard a lot of good things about you. I don’t quilt and just learned about embroidery a few years ago! I sewed for my daughters and their dolls 46 years ago 🤪 I’m now addicted to embroidery ! On machine #3 🤪. Joy sent me....so glad she did. I too live in Texas, the Panhandle, but travel to SA, Houston, and Dallas every year for stock shows (grand children now). Love your city! Fonds and porter and Jenny Doan got me started on my quilting rabbit hole, just attended a quilt retreat with Cindy Needem. My husband bought me my first sewing machine and my first embroidery machine.
I just watched Joy and she mentioned your video so I came over to watch. Enjoyed it. I learned how to quilt the same way from Jenny Doan when my mother passed away I needed something to do. She lived with me for 20 years and I missed her very much so I found Jenny and Joy both and I have enjoyed them and now I will be watching you.
Having watched many of your YT videos (very helpful, BTW), I just saw this first one you posted and found your beginning days interesting. You obviously love your crafts and enjoy sharing your experience. As a recent machine embroidery aficionado, your tutorial on downloading files from the computer to the machine was most helpful to me. Thank you for all you do to inspire and encourage us all on our various journeys!

Aloha! My husband retired out of Hawaii at Hickam. He worked Air Evac at the hospital there. My sewing space was originally a screened in lanai but we never used it so I got him to put in windows and an AC window unit to make it my sewing studio. So glad you are here!

I sew for grandchildren and i am new to embroidery and software. I think if i was to start over again with machines, i would buy the brother. I have just traded my Bernina 780 in for 790+. Big cost. And this one is so quiet and strong. Similar to 780 but better interface i believe. Welcome to the you tube and congrats on doing it. Will look up your blog. Just heard about you on Joy’s channel and thought I’d check you out. I actually don’t live far from you. I’m in Kerrville. I have watched Missouri Star videos for years and she got me seriously into quilting too! I have made several quilts now. First couple I sewed on my regular Brother computerized machine and nearly tore it up. I used to make clothing. That poor machine took the abuse though. I don’t use it for quilting anymore. I have a Brother Serger too which is a workhorse. Last year I decided that quilting was going to keep me busy from now on so I splurged and bought a light industrial Juki straight stitch machine to quilt on. Love it! Can’t afford a long arm and no room to put one anyway. Anyway, so glad I found another quilter to watch and maybe learn from. I will be watching. Thank you.

Power Tools with Thread Would love that. We have a cute quilt shop here in Kerrville called Creations that carries beautiful fabrics especially Batiks. It’s not huge but it is quaint. I just wish we had a fabric store that carried knits too as I love making clothing too. I think the closest Joanns to me is across from North Star Mall on 410. Long ways from here. After Christmas I have ideas for a few more quilts and finishing up a couple of throw size quilts I started but haven’t completed yet. But it’s in my plans. And yes, Kerrville is beautiful. We are originally from Texas City, south of Houston. Retired in Kerrville about 10-1/2 yrs. ago.

Just found you....Joy spoke about you and I was looking for handmade buttonholes because the CS6000i Brother machine template does not go to a large size button.....quite an experience. Good to meet you...my guy is retired from the Air Force....You are funny....Looking forward to more videos....Take care
Hi Mary! I have the CS6000i and you are completely right! That was one of my first machines and it's still awesome. You might have to make the button hole the old fashioned way… Place the button where you want it on the fabric and make a little horizontal mark about 1/4" long on the fabric at the top and bottom of the button. Recommend a disappearing ink or Frixion pen. Remove the button and then draw two lines from top to bottom within the marks about 1/8" apart. Prepare to zig zag!! Do a dense zigzag at a 1.5 or 2.0 stitch length along the vertical lines first. Then use a wide zigzag at 4.0 or 4.5 with a near 0 stitch length between the horizontal marks to make the top and bottom stops. Put pins in at both ends of the vertical marks and run a seam ripper between them. Viola'!! A custom button hole! Maybe I need to do a video? lol

Just heard about you on Joy’s channel and thought I’d check you out. I actually don’t live far from you. I’m in Kerrville. I have watched Missouri Star videos for years and she got me seriously into quilting too! I have made several quilts now. First couple I sewed on my regular Brother computerized machine and nearly tore it up. I used to make clothing. That poor machine took the abuse though. I don’t use it for quilting anymore. I have a Brother Serger too which is a workhorse. Last year I decided that quilting was going to keep me busy from now on so I splurged and bought a light industrial Juki straight stitch machine to quilt on. Love it! Can’t afford a long arm and no room to put one anyway. Anyway, so glad I found another quilter to watch and maybe learn from. I will be watching. Thank you.

Power Tools with Thread Would love that. We have a cute quilt shop here in Kerrville called Creations that carries beautiful fabrics especially Batiks. It’s not huge but it is quaint. I just wish we had a fabric store that carried knits too as I love making clothing too. I think the closest Joanns to me is across from North Star Mall on 410. Long ways from here. After Christmas I have ideas for a few more quilts and finishing up a couple of throw size quilts I started but haven’t completed yet. But it’s in my plans. And yes, Kerrville is beautiful. We are originally from Texas City, south of Houston. Retired in Kerrville about 10-1/2 yrs. ago.

Just found you....Joy spoke about you and I was looking for handmade buttonholes because the CS6000i Brother machine template does not go to a large size button.....quite an experience. Good to meet you...my guy is retired from the Air Force....You are funny....Looking forward to more videos....Take care
Hi Mary! I have the CS6000i and you are completely right! That was one of my first machines and it's still awesome. You might have to make the button hole the old fashioned way… Place the button where you want it on the fabric and make a little horizontal mark about 1/4" long on the fabric at the top and bottom of the button. Recommend a disappearing ink or Frixion pen. Remove the button and then draw two lines from top to bottom within the marks about 1/8" apart. Prepare to zig zag!! Do a dense zigzag at a 1.5 or 2.0 stitch length along the vertical lines first. Then use a wide zigzag at 4.0 or 4.5 with a near 0 stitch length between the horizontal marks to make the top and bottom stops. Put pins in at both ends of the vertical marks and run a seam ripper between them. Viola'!! A custom button hole! Maybe I need to do a video? lol
