I get that MTG wants to win every battle on every front, right now.Maybe in some alternate universe that is possible. It seems to me that Johnson is being a little more pragmatic. I could be wrong, (It’s happened a time or two,) but I suspect that Johnson wants one clear message coming out of the House, “Secure the Border!” He thinks that is the winning message for conservatives in November and he doesn’t want anything to distract from that. Budget fights, government shutdowns, spending cuts all need to happen and right or wrong, it appears that that the Speaker wants to save that battle for after the election.
Look at what has happened. The Republican leadership tried to leverage Ukraine $$$ against border security and it backfired because uniparty senators care more about their Ukraine piggy bank than border security and the message (and headlines) became about political maneuvering instead of the safety of American citizens. I think out of control government spending is every bit as dangerous as the “Weekend at Biden’s” people’s open border policy but I understand why Johnson is doing what he’s doing. 🤷🏻♂️
