Hi Steve I'm from south africa ,I'm 66 years old and I just love riding adventure bikes ,at the moment I dont own a bike because I cant afford one ,here is a beautiful 2019 ktm 790 r for sale here but being a working pensioner makes it impossible for me to buy it ,I love videos and so envy you ,all the best to you ,God bless
It is February 6th in Canada. I am awaiting the third NAV 6 replacement. But GARMIN states in email they don't know when. Its been 8 months since I made them aware of its none functioning. BMW states its not their problem, as the replacements where from GARMIN warranty. Any ideas of how to resolve this.
G’day, my experience was very positive from Garmin but I didn’t try a 4th time. I recommend just write it off and start again. So far the Zumo xt2 has been flawless. I’ve had it about 9 months now. Cheers.
Hi Steve 🙌 I’m Alain, 60 years old from Belgium 🇧🇪 I use the Mavigator VI since 2018, and I never have a problem with it ! Maybe you were unlucky ? Now I’m looking to remplace it by the new Connected Navigator, but I read on internet a lot of problems with it n So I keep my Navigator VI Thanks for the video ✌️ And ride safe ✌️
I had the same issues. Cleaned the contacts on the back and it went away. Generally comes back every six months as crap works its way around that back gasket. Overall, I absolutely regret every dime I spent on it. The fact that I have to pay for map updates on a $1000 gps unit is inexcusable.
WARNING - I bought the new BMW connected ride Navigator only 2 weeks ago (New 2023 model). I loaded up the UK map and then fitted it to my BMW Navi prepped Bike (1250 GSA). Within a few minutes the unit froze. The dealership did a factory reset and re-fitted it to my bike for me - within a few minutes the unit froze again. They gave me a full refund. The new Connected ride Navi is obviously full of bugs and has not been properly tested before it was released. 😢
Yes the v6 is crap. I installed a touratech mount above the tft screen like the 1250. So much better. Having the navigation in original position takes your eyes off the road.
I’m in Australia and also have got a KTM 1290SA. I fitted Garmin zumo XT2 it’s terrific BMW dealer told me that they have left Garmin and gone to Tom Tom as a joint GPS which is now called Connect Ride GPS I’m not a lover of Tom Tom and it $1400 here XT2 was $700. BMW charge heaps Wait to see what happens, the navigator usually lasts 12 months before it plays up
I have a Connected Ride Navigator, and it will be sold for peanuts when I get my Garmin XT2. The Connected Ride Navigator is the worst crap GPS I've ever seen. After almost a year, and 3 software upgrades, it's still not possible to load GPX tracks. The roads on the display is virtually invisible, light grey on ever lighter grey background. And there's lots of other bugs, especially with connection to TFT, phone and headset. I've send lots of support requests to BMW, and received NO answers. Stay away from the Connected Ride Navigator!
I bought a 2019 GSA 1250 and purchased same gps Since then I’ve had 4 replaced, same issues. BMW have been great. The most recent one I have has had a screen upgrade so they say and that was purchased in September 2023 and it does have a new integrated face and I haven’t had any trouble as yet However, for the amount of money I paid for the original one, it was disappointing
Well guys you wouldn’t believe it, yes you will Turned on the bike today and the GPS went to ghost mode again I dropped the navigator V1 back to bmw and they state they have new ones coming through at the end of the month and the issues been fixed, so they claim This will be my 5th or 6th one coming up
Thanks for this one Steve. I have the Motorrad IV from 2013, bought new with a K1600GT. I now have the R1200GSA and was thinking it about time I upgraded to the latest version VI. I won't waste my money. They are ridiculously expensive and it appears, ridiculously unreliable.
My mate Grant bought the Garmin Zumo to use on his K1600 as he doesn’t like the inbuilt unit. I had a k1600 GTL myself for 8 years. There are a couple of related videos on my channel. Cheers
You made the right decision, I took my version VI to BMW and put my version V back on, vastly superior. If I hadn’t kept my version V I would have bought the Garmin Zumo XT 2 as it’s a great piece of kit.

Hi, thank you, hold on to the dream, cheers
I’m one of those that binned the VI and went back to the V, far better in my opinion.
You’re pro now. 1300 GS

Wunderlich make an adapter which you can fit the Zumo XT/2 into the BMW cradle.

Steve there's a pigtail cable you can buy that plugs straight into the old nav plug and wires straight to the garmin unit mate !!😊
Oh great wish I’d know earlier, thanks though
It took me a few days to realise the new Connected Ride is a heap of crap, let along the navigator VI. I went your route, 3DAM and an XT.
It’s proven to be a good solution for me so far, cheers

Thanks for the tip. I've been buying on-line maps for the IV. I might now consider alternate options.
