Yeahhooo- Almost 1/3 of the way.
BTW, You are hitting the Sierra at the right time. Happy Trails.
The Sierra is amazing! Sooo beautiful right now. Just lots of mosquitoes 🦟
You guys are doing good
Thank you!
Those stickers are so cute!
We think so too!
Personal stickers!!!!!
Perhaps after the trail!
Love the stickers. Y'all should consider selling them...hint, hint, hint
Definitely thinking about it! Probably after the trail though. Shipping logistics while hiking are pretty tough 😬
What a great accomplishment to reach Kennedy Meadows, you guys are crushing it. What day did you arrive to KM? Doing a little research for my PCT in 2025 thanks in advance 🤙🏽
Arrived June 10, left June 12. Permit start was April 21!
Good luck on your next venture.
Thank you!
By the time you guys read this you are probably already some distance into the Sierra, but I would definitely be wary of and prepared for the amount of mosquitoes and bugs you will be encountering.
Having hiked in the Sierra extensively over the years I can attest from firsthand experience that the mosquitoes in the summertime are wicked bad. Plus quite a number of the other through hikers I've been following on The Tube are all commenting on and complaining about the volume of mosquitoes attacking them every time they come to a stop.
You folks are probably already prepared for this, but on the off chance you are not, I just thought I'd trow it out there.
Appreciate it! Luckily we prepared for it, but yeah, the mosquitoes are brutal right now!
Just a thought….Anna looks like she has lost weight. Could that be part of the problem her pack is not fitting correctly? Really enjoy watching you two hike. Maybe while in the Sierras, you could have a daily wrap up from both of you…in other words…what each thought of that day’s hike.
She has lost weight, torso length hasn’t changed though. It wasn’t a problem until the bigger food and water carries. The ULA just didn’t work for her. Mariposa is working great though! Thanks for following along! She’ll recap in more videos soon!
Day 52 and you’re just getting into Kennedy Medows?? Might wanna step up the pace because at those rate you might hit the Canadian border by January 2025
Okay EDIT : I crunched some numbers and your actually only about 20-25 days behind the average pace of most PCT hikers. Usually you wanna be in Kennedy Meows around day 35-40 tops so you’re not as slow as originally thought! Remember 20-30 miles days! One foot after the other you can do it!
Most people aren’t going to average 20 miles per day to KMS. A lot of people start out the first few weeks doing much smaller miles, and it’s unrealistic to have no zeros and be punching out a bunch of 25+ mile days to hit kms by day 35 or so
They will be fine
Better not to push themselves overtly
The goal has always been to arrive at Kennedy meadows around the 2nd week of June so they are right on schedule
Less worried about pace, more about timing. The FAST hikers may be in Kennedy Meadows that quick, not most. We’ve been in THE bubble of hikers this whole time. Mid April start, arrived in Kennedy Meadows mid June. Seems what most people were shooting for. Left Kennedy Meadows June 12, a few days before “Ray Day”, considered the perfect time for thru hikers to enter to Sierra on an average snow year (which it is). Bigger miles will be coming after the Sierra, but we’re right where we want to be right now. Thanks for watching. Cheers 🍻
