Hello June; I am a freelancer with no registered business. How do I calculate my taxes? I only earn when I have a writing job to do. And what are my tax exemptions or dedictions? I work from home.
Hello, thank you for your question. Your freelance business is just like those in consultancy. You should compute your income, and expenses incurred to earn that income then fill in the profit and loss account accurately. You're entitled to an annual relief of KES. 28,800.
Hi June thankyou for this video❤❤..so there is still a question... Lets say this person is not given any relief and is earning 32k.. and they woked for 4 momths for that year...when we look at the rates of nhif it shows they are deducted 900sh for nhif. Does this mean this 900 is the relief they are being given? because you have said we will add the sum of the 4 months deductions which will be 900*4 =3600... so this 3600 is 15%... what about 100% ?? is this how you are saying we should calculate?... Then is this 900 the relief or is it the deductions of the employee.. I am confused because as per your p9 form that person is earing over 50k and they are given a relief of 180 while this earning 32k is given a relief of 900... Or is 3600 the 100% now we look for 15%??? Kindly advice on the 900sh relief..
Hello. 900 is the sum assured so just key in the 3600. The approach of relief is when it is indicated in the P9 form. For instance, in the P9 I've used, the 180 is the 15% so you need to get the 100% to key in the ITR.
Hello, for the retirement contribution column E and G my p9 has figures..E has 3 columns with different figures and G has another figure..how do i compute that info?
Hello,am trying to file returns using the excel form but when I fill in the annual tax relief;28800 I am prompted that I should enter a positive numeric value that is less or equal to 13944,,how do I go about this please help
Hello, that's an excel version error. I recommend you update your excel version or use another computer. The relief should be 28,800... nothing less or more.
This is very informative! Thank you, June!
Thank you. I'm glad you found it useful

Yes, as from March to December
