My friend took her life here in 2008. I’ve never had the courage to visit (though one day I will) but seeing this video now, the only thing going through my mind is paying rapt attention to every step and thinking ‘is this the spot where the went over’. I am glad to see the fences up.
Thank you, me too. If you cross the bridge again, please spare a thought for a young lady from rural England who travelled so far and could not find the hope to carry on.
Thank you for saying. Time transforms grief into bittersweet memory & what is remembered lives on. I hope you’re well in Ireland and that you have as easy & enjoyably 2021 as you are able 🙂
I think that wire height extension to the main metal barrier should remain across the complete length of the bridge. The height of the barrier is just too low for safety.
If people wanna jump, let em jump. Don't ruin the view for others just because they want to die, it's their life anyway. Plus, there's plenty of 200 ft buildings, cliffs etc. people can jump off of, although I don't think a chain linked fence will stop anyone from climbing over.
The video quality was amazing! The 4K footage really captured the beauty of the bridge and the surrounding area. I felt like I was right there with you on the walk. Do you have any tips for capturing stunning footage on a walking tour like this?

The fences go out to the shoreline where people can walk under the bridge. They prevent anyone from jumping off the bridge and landing on a person underneath. If someone wants to commit suicide they should have the courtesy to jump off the bridge over the water.

So why the vertical fencing BEFORE you get on the span? If someone wanted to commit suicide, they will just jump out in front of traffic when they build the suicide barriers.
