Thanks specifically for the fuser teardown instructions. HP doesn't want us to actually repair fusers. With your help i managed to replace a torn preassure roller (orangy thing) and now it prints like new. Cheers.
Bro, you saved me from buying a fuser. Had a paper jam inside the fuser, followed your moves and got it out, printing good now. Thank you. Liked and subscribed.
I purchased a cheap fuser sleeve and pressure roller kit from Amazon, but used original grease purchased from Ebay. After replacement, the prints came out smudged. I believe that the fuser sleeve I bought was too thick so the heat can't transfer properly, and the print don't fuse completely on the paper. I managed to come up with a solution. I changed the paper type in the printer settings to HP Glossy Paper 200g. With the printer thinking the paper is thicker, i believe the fuser increases the heat. This made the prints to fuse on regular paper. The only downside is that the printing speed is reduced with this method. Hope it helps others with similar issues after replacement.
I believe your theory is correct. I experienced "ghosting" (faint repeating images) after performing the excellent procedure shown in this video. Setting the default paper type to a higher value did indeed fix the problem. I used a lower level than 200g, just high enough for ghosting to be eliminated. Good call!
@@km4hr Thank you @Erepairer I could fix my printer. Thank you also to this comment and answer that help me to understand the issue I had (transfer issue) : I set the paper to 105 g (in reality it is a 80 g paper) and It works !!!!
Great walkthrough, and thanks for pointing out specific areas for us to pay attention to. By following your video, I know I correctly repaired it. So I will have to see if the quality of the replacement pressure roller and sleeve works...if not, I still learned something. Thanks, Erepairer!

I bought the this very printer a little over six years ago. It get's used every day and has done well until recently. The paper jams and the repetitive smears on all pages when printing are the exact same issue I have. At 5:30, he pulls that large plastic piece off. The strip that has the five little rollers separated from the other half and broke in half. The center roller and a spring popped out and I was able to recover it from the bottom of the printer. The paper jam that occurred during the side two print job literally broke that plastic piece and I can't remove the paper from the fuser. At this point I think replacing the fuser would be a better option and might as well take a good look at the transfer belt for any damage while cleaning it. I've watched Metrofuser's videos on this series of printers, but the printer they use is doesn't have the scanner/copier assembly on top an d doesn't have the duplex version of the fuser. So I wasn't sure if the top section had to be removed to pull the side panels off. At least this video shows that is not the case.
Very detailed video and clearly explained. I do notice that from 30:50 (the first test run) the output looks smudged. I have exactly the same problem. After replacing the parts the printer never prints right the first page (it won't really fuse) and smudges.Only after three to four pages the output starts to look clean. It makes me wonder if it has anything to do with the Ali-Express parts or some additional problem. In the video ,setting the paper type to plain paper seems to cure it..but does it really?

I had some smudged prints immediately after replacing the parts shown in the video. It cleared up after a few pages. Correction: Print quality improved with the new parts but there are ghost images. It's not as good as new. Oddly the ghost images come and go. Sometimes they're barely visible.
Congratulations for your tutorial, I have changed the 3 cylinders, but now when I print I get a duplicate impression, you know what it could be due to, thank you very much
From what I'm seeing, the same thing happens to all of us, these rollers don't work, they don't fix the toner to the paper, HP doesn't sell the roller separately so there is no original product on the market, don't tell me to buy original because it does not exist, you have to buy them on Aliexpress, or on Ebay but they all come from china I have tried with several brands and none of them work well, I think they are made by the same manufacturer, these tutorials are a fraud, they only work for them, I do not know anyone who has changed the pressure roller and it works well
@@carlossomovillasomovilla3269 I had the same experience. To print properly i set paper to heavy rough, but still the first page is not properly fused, it seems the pressure roller doesn't transfer the heat properly. As a workaround i make an empty copy before printing, but i have the idea to cheat on the thermistor, if it's an NTC a serial resistor would increase the resistance and the temperature on the PTC would increase. Just an idea.
Is there a specific position for the fuser to put it in before re installing it in the printer ? There are two positions : first one, the roller is free so it is easy to make it spin... second one, the roller is hard to make it spin (with fingers) because of the pressure of the 2 springs. First or second or ... it doesn't matter ? Thanks
I have replace my fuser roller like you did in this video. Now because of the springs on both side. The roller will not spin freely. It is press tightly against the black plastic film roller.
I have the M477 that I got from a friend. It had a disconnected cable and once I plugged it in it worked almost perfectly. The issue is that it has smudges that are clearly due to a roller(repetitive). I opened the back and peaked around and noticed the pink/orange roller appeared to have some plastic or tape on part of it that was bunched up. At first I thought this might have been caught in it and pulled some of it off but it was very thin and it seemed to be a plastic coating. I guess this is the pressure roller and it's suppose to have that plastic coating to make the toner come off easily? I tried printing and noticed where, I think, the film is missing it had page text on it. I guess there is no way to fix this except to get a new pressure roller? Does all this seem about right?
I'm no printer expert but I believe your explanation is correct. Unfortunately HP doesn't sell new high quality parts according to what others are saying. Cheap substitute parts found online don't work as well as the originals, at least that's what I'm finding. I'm having smudging (ghosting) issues like those others describe after installing off brand parts. It's an improvement but I don't get original quality prints. You are correct that the "tape" you're seeing is the non-stick coating pealing off the roller. Mine was like that too.
