#Corolla #CorollaHatch #SaveTheManuals
I do not under why they would put an electronic e-brake in a manual car. The e in e-brake is for emergency and in an emergency, you don't want to rely on electronics, you want a cable hand brake.
Idiots started calling it "ebrake" it's called a parking brake. This is electronic parking brake not "ebrake" lol.
You don't want to use the hand brake as an emergency brake. Have fun locking your rear wheels and sliding into whatever you're about to hit. ABS will brake better than you ever could.
@@fib3110 If your brakes fail and the "ebrake" becomes your last resort what would you call it then?
Ordered my xse hatch with a 6 speed. I’m currently waiting on my delivery. Couldn’t be happier because they are getting rid of the manual for 2023. So I’m getting one of the last manuals!
With all the problems with cars with cvt’s you’d think manuals would make a comeback. I won’t be buying anything with a cvt EVER. I hope they still make this car when I’m ready to buy a car.
Ive been driving Toyota's with CVT for years ,,No problems at all.
11:25 when I bought my 2020 SE sedan with a stick the salesman was so excited to actually sell a manual Corolla. Hell there was only 4 in the whole province in the colour I wanted.
The stupid, irritating, unneeded electric parking brake stops the whole deal for me. Toyota, bring back the manual hand brake!
I drove one of these yesterday. Very fun to drive! 👍
Great review -- thanks. Just got mine in Fl. Ridiculous deal b/c nobody drives manual here. Rowing your gears in this one is a joy.
Yes! I was literally looking to see if you have reviewed this yet like 3 days ago.
I'm more confident with the electronic parking brake than the 20 year old one in my car that rolls a bit if you don't yank it to the top. Put it in 4th and turn the car off and it automatically engages.
Why fourth?
That's the same exact shift knob that came in my 2007 vw gti but with a newer looking insert
Great daily driver, own a 2022 hatchback XSE.
That is significantly improved cargo room. I believe they removed the spare in favor of a fix a flat kit which increases cargo room to near 25 cu ft which is way better than 2019.
You’re the best sale person I know. 👍🏼
Bought one last month. Very pleased with my purchase
Love your content. Please keep it going and I hope to see you succeed! And this corolla hatch is awesome. I reserved my 6spd xse a couple days ago and am picking it up tomorrow!!
I’ll buy one used in 10 years lol
my mom has a 2020 toyota camry and in a few years my dad is gonna get a manual corolla hatchback brand new, which will be fun to compare with my brother's fiesta hatch
Why is everyone crying about the electric parking brake? You're not crying about electric power windows, electric power locks, automatic transmissions, automatic headlights, push button start, keyless entry, touchless hatch release. automatic wiper sensors. But crying about a electric parking brake? I'm confused. I mean its 2020
love this channel
It looks like they took the spare tire out on this one by just looking at that deeper cargo space.
love these cars need to save up more & will buy a white one with a manual
This car is number 1 on my list right now. Also looking at a 2020 Civic 6-speed and a 2018 or 2019 Mazda3 hatchback 6-speed with low miles. Can you compare these? And yeah, electronic e-brake really makes me shake my head.
Personally, I prefer mazda. It feels the nicest and is the most fun imo. Civics are decent, but the manuals have a lot of rev hang and feel weird at times. here are some of my reviews of similar cars you're looking at
2018 Mazda 3 Hatch

2017 Civic Hatch Manual

2019 Civic Hatch (Auto, but has features more like a 2020)

Stay away from the Civic because the rev hang on them are stupid, including the oil dilution problem. You can't go wrong with Mazda3 or Corolla. Better yet, just get the Veloster N. The N has a handbrake, none of that rev hang bullshit, an active exhaust system that even the Civic Type R is lacking, track ready from the factory for under $30k.
nice content
nice review. does the 2020 MY have Android Auto and Alexa integration yet?
I cant wait to get one of thee as my daily. My NA miata has been my daily for over a year and a half but I want somegning more practical and comfortable, but as fun. As TheTopher/WindingRoadMagazine says, its like a front wheel drive more practical ND miata
I tried the Scion IM and left the dealership because it was missing too much power
I like this shifter compared to the Civic Sedan as it’s taller (the gearshift in the Civic is almost a knob instead of an actual stick). I also like that Reverse is on the far left side instead of far right. Though they say it isn’t an issue, I’d be afraid of accidentally trying to put it in reverse instead of 6th. I don’t think it’ll actually go into reverse, but I don’t even want to try just in case.
Even if it didn’t have a lockout, which it does, I’m not sure how you’d go into reverse instead of sixth. Sixth is below fifth, reverse is an entire row over. That’d be like worrying about shifting from first straight into third.
I have a hatchback Corolla, it's a Pontiac Vibe😄
Mine is a 5 speed manual, but the shifter feels like garbage. I think it's because they must use cheap bushings. I had a 1996 Civic 5 speed that shifted like a dream all 326000 miles.
Electronic parking brake
Ridiculously stupid
You get used to it. No handbrake turns though.
Average beater car in 20 years? With nearly 30,000 miles on my 2019, it is my current beater lol.
My 2018 let had 80k
@@henryg4548 Considering the past corollas have no concerns to 900,000 miles, its brand new:)
Was it easy to get into the back seat with those smaller doors? I am looking for a Toyota hatchback and can't decide between this and a Prius.
Also has android auto
Can’t stand the electric parking brake.
is subaru manual impresa hatch a good competitor or better? i see about 20K+ on web site
good job
Hi any rev hang on this like si and wrx?
Awesome!
Does it have Android auto?
My Favorite 👍🚗
Too bad it's silver. Silver is the worst, most soul-less color.
You can always have a paint job done.
I disagree. I think it's black or white.
How does it compare to a GTI?
I haven't driven the current generation GTI, but the GTI has more power. Space wise, I prefer the Corolla, but again I haven't driven the 4 door GTI, only two door.
@@ShootingCars ok. Im trying to decide what car i should get. Mk7 gti, this corrolla, or a civic hatchback
@@MrChickenspit The Corolla is the only non-turbo one in that group. Depends on what you want out of a car. The most fun in my opinion is the GTI, but reliability and fuel economy would go to the Honda or Toyota.
@@mohamedalkaboom They have had some oil dilution problems particularly in cold climate areas.
The dealership gave me one of these yesterday as a loaner car while my 2012 Corolla was in the shop for a repair. Granted it had the CVT and not the manual, however, I wasn't particularly impressed. No power from the engine and just a basic appliance to get around. As far as manuals are concerned, there simply isn't a good reason to buy one if the car is going to be used as a commuter car. It sucks shifting in stop and go driving and the gas mileage is considerably less than an automatic. Drove sticks for 25 years and will probably never buy one again.
