I swear good Eustace players are never boring to watch. I'm maining him as soon as I graduate from the free version

Fair warning, he's a charge character and has VERY unorthodox inputs.
His grenade is DP, or 623 (forward, down, down forward), he has no 236/QCF (QCF, or quarter circle forward is down, down forward, forward), and his dash is 214/QCB (QCB is QCF in reverse, so down, down back, back), so he has no good defensive options in corner. He's fun, but to get the most out of him in neutral you need to be comfortable using charge 4>6(back, foward) to shoot his gun, and for the angled orb it's charge it's a 2>8 or down/up charge.
Luckily if you use either in combo you can just use simple inputs and still get full damage.
If those aren't something that'd bother you, I'd love to have more Eustace mains about, there's not many of us!
Edit: I forgot to explain charges, because GBFV:R is so beginner friendly and there are so many new people to fighters who might NOT know. Charge means you have to hold a button for a certain amount of time (depending on game, usually 1-2 seconds) then do another movement input, typically the opposite and a button at about the same time. For Eustace it'd be holding back for around 1 second, then pressing forward and light, medium, heavy or unique. If you want it more consistent you press the attack button slightly after forward.

Or just use 1 button specials. The nerf in damage only applies when you do specials outside of combos anyways. And the damage isnt that much of a big difference so i highly suggest just use that instead of doing manual inputs.

@@SmollPanda 10% damage is a lot, but in the grand scheme of things in a match it's probably at most like 1.5k damage, but I'd guess is closer to what.. 800 damage? That's basically just an extra fireball worth of damage. Assuming you don't instant raw skybound art anyways

@@ThatPinkOtter i guess this this all boils down to what the player prioritize higher. In my perspestive, 10% dmg increase in raw special isnt enough to justify to do manual specials vs the 1 button, especially on a charge character.

@@SmollPanda If you're not concerned about ranked or competitions there's not much need to worry about using motion inputs, if you're not trying to squeeze out every little bit of damage it's totally fine to just not use them.
For me I only got super serious into fighting games with BlazBlue Calamity Trigger, so old habits die hard and all that. The skill button is taking some getting used to, it's great to use in combos for consistency.
GBFVS:R is super easy to get into, if it's what gets you into fighting games that's awesome! It's a ton of fun after all. If you want to try other fighters however I'd suggest learning motion inputs since there aren't MANY fighters that don't use them. There's nothing wrong with playing the game casually if you have fun with it, but learning motion inputs is probably the first big hurdle you'll face getting into fighters as a whole since they're so universal in the genre.
That said I'm a big advocate for the removal of motion inputs since it's such a big barrier to entry (We definitely need MORE new blood) and they don't affect the games at top level play in any meaningful way, if anything it makes professional players more consistent in combos and allows them to react faster, you can see that in Battle For The Grid, one of the hardest fighters I've ever played... And it has no motion inputs. xD
There's nothing wrong with not doing motion inputs until you start taking the game really seriously, but if you are then you're almost certainly gonna learn them to give yourself even the slightest advantage. It all comes down to what you want out of the game. c:

I don't know this game very much so I'm genuinely asking, is this considered a favored match-up for Eustace ?
Because that video gave me Happy Chaos PTSD...

Looks more like a lack of matchup knowledge as he is rarely played. Game's very new so you will see that a lot for a while.

@@Zxerom not exactly true, he lost some stuff. Notably double red grenade explosion combos.

HC is a hitscan zoner, while Eustace is more likely to be fireball zoning. Most of his fireballs are slow, and can be baited by simply running/jumping. The neutral at 10:06 is a good example. Just need some MU knowledge and patience to get in.
Also, Eustace is good in close-range pressure and far-range zoning, but his mid-range neutral is below average. Characters with fast mid-range poke, such as Katalina, can easily keeps Eustace in passive side.
