@ yeah, that’s what I said too, but a derivation from a completely generic origin into a fairly different meaning in a different context and sphere. Apart from that people might have already stopped using the term
2:09 today I’m finding out people use “hotpot” to talk abt casseroles and that terrifies me… what do y’all call putting food into hot soup that’s shared at a table
I wish this debate could be ended regarding whether or not the word "pot" in and of itself counts as an answer, because I would count it personally, and others say it doesn't. But I don't see the logic, the last three letters are indeed "pot" so the word ends with "pot"
In later series they clarify that they won't accept the word itself if it ends in a sequence of letters (e.g. they won't accept "eat" for words ending in EAT). Granted, if you just said "pot" and they allowed it, it will probably score extremely highly and be an unwise move.
@@croissantpower Well yeah, but we're curious. I mean, I bet it's high - but then you have people like @bipolarminddroppings who would insist that 'pot' doesn't end in 'pot'. I disagree, obviously. I think the last three letters in the word 'pot' is 'pot', and would write that first if asked to list words that end in 'pot'. So I bet the number would be high. But how high? It should be the absolutely most obvious answer - but I bet you that it would not get 100 points.
why are they not showing the answers the contestant says? i have no idea what the first lady said. bampot? this would be a terrible show for somebody whos deaf.. 😅
"Despot" was my thought
Same
Timing
Great minds think alike :)
Surreal. Same here.
Same. Can't believe it was that high considering others
I woulda say depot
How tempted they must have been to use "Toss" or "Piss"
I had "toss." I don't think your other one is valid.
I've heard that they'll re-record a more appropriate answer if they give one they can't air.
Tosspot is there. It’s an old word for a heavy drinker.
how about spot ?
Well done, 99 points
First one I thought of
@@baby_joe😂 exactly
@@baby_joewould’ve been better than neti Pot
hotspot can also be a place with free wi-fi
derived from the other definition
@ yes yes, certainly they’re all derived from ‘ a spot that is hot’

I considered 'entrepot', from high school geography, but thought it might be considered a foreign word.
It was revealed later that it was a pointless answer that was valid.
Didn't matter, plenty French words, & others, in the English dictionary, since half the English language is foreign
A GALLIPOT is a small jar, traditionally of glazed earthenware. It is found in the OED.
2:09 today I’m finding out people use “hotpot” to talk abt casseroles and that terrifies me… what do y’all call putting food into hot soup that’s shared at a table
Or hotpot with a pie crust.
I guess the words 'hot' and 'pot' are so broad that they have been ascribed to lots of dishes
Steamboat
@@Zaihanisme ah i see
Could you say ‘pot’ on its own? It still ends with pot
I mean yes, but it wont score low. You want something obscure.
Or “spot”.
Yes if you want to to terribly in this game 😂
@@croissantpower yes but the people who were surveyed - their instinct when being asked to say a word ending in ‘pot’, they won’t say pot itself
Isn't the rule normally "at least four letters"?
Not got to the answers yet, but as someone who dabbles in electronics, I'll go for trimpot
I thought of entrepot and inkspot.😊
I just thought of “silpot”, a silica-based soil amendment.
I did quite badly on this one. My best was despot.
The only pots that I knew were Jackpot and Teapot. Barnpot was an inspired answer.
Pisspot for me. 😂
Apart from the obvious, and thus high scoring ones, I could only think of swear words...
Can just say pot right?
that's probably against the game rules but I'm surprised no one said Spot.
@@namne11 because it's a common word
pot doesn't end in pot.
@@bipolarminddroppingsWhat does it end with, then?
@@namne11you do realise the point is to get obscure answers right? Spot or Pot would be really poor choices
Spot
Pretty surprised no one thought of spot. Is there a rule against that, like no 4-letter word or something?
It would be a very very very bad score 🙂 It's the first word everyone thinks about.
I had "stewpot" as my choice.
(SPOILER: And I'm glad it was.)
Smoke.

@WaterCrane ah okay, thanks for saying that, haven't seen much of the show apart from catching it a couple times
SPOT
Blackspot was mine
entrepot was mine.
"Stewpot" (naturally).
no TALIPOT?
Mmmmm
I just want to know how many points "pot" would've scored.
My thought too, given nobody said it and nobody else in the comments has said it I think it may have paid off.
pot isn't a word that ends in pot.
@@bipolarminddroppingsWhat does it end with, then.

Close, She said Barnpot
I immediately thought of "Capot"
I’m confused….if they asked 100 people how come there’s more than 100 points?
They have 100 seconds or some such to come up with as many words as they can.
@ aaaaah gotcha thanks
At the start of the show they always say "We gave 100 people 100 seconds to name as many X as possible"
There isn’t? The max score you can get for an answer is 100. So if 100/100 people asked thought of ‘spot’ they would’ve scored 100 points
Spot
