I know this may not be seen because it is 7 years later, but THANK YOU! I had watched other videos and you were the only one that showed lifting the gear up for the new cam lever to fit correctly! That was what I was missing, and now it works! I fixed job's printer thanks to you! :)

Nice video. Have my printer for 7 yrs, worked like a charm until the gear splitted. Brothers put down a flimsy gear on purpose but this video gave my printer a new life. Thanks.
Thank you so much for uploading this video! It saved me a few hundred dollars. We tried so hard to figure out what’s wrong with the printer but nothing helps until I found his video. I just purchased the cam lever from Amazon for $7 to replace the broken one.
This is awesome. Phone's rotated wrong, I can't see half of what you're doing, and you almost forgot to put the spring back -- and yet I totally fixed my printer for $1 because of your work. Thank you.
I CAN'T imagine why someone gave these guys a thumbs down?! This video SAVED me. In my case the white plastic cam lever part was not broken, but had somehow fallen off the "post" that it pivots on. I had accidentally pushed the cam lever too far to the left when I was attempting an earlier repair method, and that's how it came off the post that it sits on. I did not know how to take apart the printer in order to get access to it. This video showed me how to do it properly, and then properly re-install the cam lever onto the post so that it pivots properly again. Seems like a bit of a design flaw, but as long as I was able to avoid junking what was otherwise an excellent laser printer I am happy as a clam! Well done gentleman!
I just replaced my cam lever . I need to add that this is easy to do , but be aware that the little broken off piece needs to be fitted after you raise the gear and you must lightly force the new tab into the semi circular slot . Mine works great now , THANKS for this video !
Thanks! I have the same problem on my MFC-7360N after only printing 480 pages! Incredibly bad design. This video saved me from buying a new printer. I ordered a couple of these CAM levers on amazon (2 pieces for $9), will fix my printer when they are arrive. Thanks again, a good job!
Part just replaced and worked exactly as shown on the 7860W as well. Just ordered the part off ebay and it popped in with a bit of coaxing. Had a bit of difficulty seeing what you were doing in the video with the clasp but once I got that figured out it went pretty easily. Thanks again! Saved me several hundred dollars in a printer replacement.
Thank you so much for this video. You've saved me from spending $150 in repair. I was even thinking of throwing the printer away because it costs just a little more to buy a new one. But it would be such a waste only because a small plastic part is broken. Thank you!
So happy to have found this video as it allowed me to fix my printer for just a few bucks. Make sure that the tiny little white tab (the part that broke) goes through the little curved space in the black plastic at the bottom as he shows in the video otherwise you will continue getting the error.
It took me a while to get the little tab in that slot. I was afraid I would break it if I put too much pressure. But it went in with just a little bit of pressure. Fantastic! I had given up on this printer. But now it's working properly again! Thank you so much! Paid $7.50 shipped on eBay!
I also want to say thank you! With the help of your video and a simple spare part I was able to bring back the paper feed functionality of my printer. Great work, thank you again for this helpful video!
Your fix worked for me. I did have a little trouble getting the case open and the clutch off. Those parts could have been better demonstrated in the video. As others have said, your video saved me the cost of a new printer.
Thank you for this, I found another video showing the lever can sometimes move, but mine was broken, thanks to you I spent $5 and fixed it myself in like 10 minutes! Thanks!
I just completed this fix today! I got a $10 replacement part on ebay w/free shipping, and it took me about 15 minutes to get everything swapped out. Works perfectly! Thank you!

Wonderful. This same problem occurred on our HL-2270-DW. The cover removal is different (no screws, two catches in the back, one in the front), but the mechanism is exactly the same as shown. And the failure was exactly as shown. I found three eBay sellers and ordered a pack of two from one of them, as I expect to have this problem again in a few years.

The (minimal) error lights on this printer led me to believe it was a drum issue. Error light on solid, no other lights. A different drum gave the same error. I scoured the 181-page Brother Service Manual for information on this and found nothing. I installed the Brother Service Monitor software and connected via USB instead of wireless and dumped the error log and it said "Paper Empty" although the paper tray had plenty of paper. I should have gotten the first clue--that each time it started printing it pulled paper 1" (25mm) from the paper tray before stopping. So I knew it was a paper feeding problem and cleaned rollers to no effect. I never would have figured out that the problem was the paper cam lever without your website. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with the rest of the world. I bought two levers for $15 on eBay so I'll have a spare a few years from now when it happens again. This part is definitely underdesigned.
Laurence Marks sometimes small things create huge problems. And we go crazy after it.Anyways thanksfor your comment. If you have any other issue just let me know
I fixed mine. Hooray. Thanks to the video. However, it took a while to figure out how to get the side cover out. Also the the plastic pieces need to be pushed down more so the small piece (the easily broken part as in the video) need to get into the slot/channel.
first of all thanks for the video, but I am with some other viewers here, nowhere to find the parts, after refereed to other sources, I figured it out u can reuse the broken plastic parts but dump the spring parts, the trick is after having reinstalled the broken parts to its original position, just snap it to the left a little until u feel a slight click, then u can try printing something to make sure, this is worked on my MFC-7460.
Hi guys ! You don't need to replace whole part , only one thing what you need is locker washer with inner teeth for static shaft where fault part placed. After locker washer placed properly on shaft tightly, lever is fixed solid in horizontal position. I'm fixed my 7360N with it, so wish to you! Respect to all tech minds;)
Thank you for the video , got mfc-7860dw and found it has the same problem so I used super glue with hot air to melt all together and formed strong thicker edge than factory, worked well, yes to put back was not easy but figured the mechanics of how it works and all in, I found that you can preload this part with a spring pushing to stay all the time inside will fix it for good even with that small edge is broken, Thank you for sharing.
the purpose of the edge is to keep the lever in place not to slide back, you can simply melt plastic and build stronger edge as I did or find a suitable spring loading it with a screw from the back to keep it in place all the way inside. open it and will figure what i mean. if you heat it with hair drier will just melt and u can shape it , maybe that is better and much starlight forward solution. even replacing it with new one is not good enough as it is still weak better build the edge stronger yourself.
Salim Safran thank you for response, actually i have took out the part already, however the little portion of the parts was break up and fall off when i was trying to put it back, the reason i asked the question, above was because when open up the right panel, first thing i saw is disk-like part was not clipping the black stick, so i was thinking that maybe the feeder elever was not cause of the no paper error...and yes, i just broke my printer...
yes it not easy to put it back but if you make thicker stronger edge you will be able to push it slanted and might bend but wont break. new one most likely will be broken again during installation as it is very weak really bad design to such great technology machine.
THANKS. Any thoughts about about a permanent fix by placing either rubber O-Rings..or metal retainer clip around the top of the cam lever of the dow to keep the lever from sliding out? The peice of the cam that breaks off is nothing more than a guide that wears downs.

do you have any experience with HL-L2380dw? same error: No Paper Reload paper in Tray. I have not disassembled it to see if i can find a 'feeder cam' inside it.. yet, but I imagine they're all quite similar on the inside.
My brother 7860dw printer was having the same issue. Found the same part on ebay for 10 bucks...just ordered so hopefully it arrives in a week and I can fix this thing. Thanks!
Great Demonstration! I wonder if that's what is wrong with my printer! Paper moves a bit, but does not leave the paper tray. If I slide the paper forward just a bit, the printer feeds and prints.
@@brotherprintersupport there is no "error code" that we can find - it just doesn't take the paper, and the (normally) green light goes off, and the orange one next to it goes on - and stays on until we press the regular button again (if that makes sense)

This video helped me identify and fix the no paper problem with my Brother HL-22400 not once but twice. I found the Brother Feeder cam Lever, LY2579001 on Amazon. Thanks!
@Everest Gaming, is there any other reason for the NO PAPER error message? I purchased a new feeder cam lever and replaced it per another instructional outube video (with same demonstration as yours--thanks to you both!
Thank you. It worked! That was exactly the problem. Mine was not completely broken but out of its place. It broke however while trying to put it back in. Luckily, mine still works..! :)
Thank you for posting this very helpful video. Upon replacement of the LY2579001 Feeder Cam Lever, the printer will feed paper once, paper feed issue returns on subsequent attempts. I have repeatedly removed the side cover, subject component to confirm replacement cam lever functions properly, printer will again feed - ONCE - after each assembly and disassembly. I then attempted to print with the side cover removed. It appears that the gears engaged (lifted) by proper positioning of the cam lever are spinning, shaft on which clutch is mounted appears to rotate freely, wondering if it could somehow be related, or perhaps another cause. I would be most grateful for any guidance.
For those who couldn't find a spare lever remove the spring and just add some paper behind the lever to hold it in place such that the gears are connected. This lever acts as a clutch and stops a roller from running when there is no paper tray inserted that is all. I couldn't find stock for the replacement after searching on multiple websites in my country. Just add some paper behind the lever such that the gear is lifted and connected to the longer roller shaft. (the opposite direction the spring is holding, so you can remove the spring or keep it, it won't matter cus its always connected now. I hadn't been using this printer cus I didn't want to manual feed paper every time. Now that it is fixed I can easily print, and fuck inkjet and their costly cartridges.
This little paper fix is great for my "old" MFC-7860DW, and you don't even need a new lever. I actually got a lever off ebay which seemed intact and replaced it, but for me (just as in the video), the new lever did NOT elevate the gear into place unless held there (and reassembled with paper in the tray, it still said "NO PAPER," presumably because the paper was not pushing it into place). I probably didn't put it in right, but whatever, your paper trick to hold it in place works great. Thanks for the practical suggestion! Right on with the cartridges... I do kinda like the new color lasers though
Oh here www.partsimple.com/ly2579001-bro-n-13.html but you would have to buy 24 of them ... maybe not a bad idea since this was such a poor design. Ive just tried super gluing the existing cam lever.
My printers sometime pick the page and sometimes not what is the problem?is that the same problem to replace feeder cam lever or anything else please reply
3:11 this procedure alone may want you to get buying two feeder pieces just in case, when you press through there’s a chance that tooth (basically the whole reason for this replacement) will break off. Thus causing you to throw a fist through a wall.
Hi, where can we procure that piece that you just replaced? Just found out that it is the same broken piece in my printer making it not feed paper. What is the part called or number? Thank you so much for your video!

Thankyou for support. Please let us know you have any other issues related to brother ptinter

Glad it helped
can u post some pics of it about paper putting baCK
worked for me, thank you very much.
Thanks for this. Brother Printer should say thanks, too.
Hi Jeevan,
Where could the part be bought from? I tried to obtain it online but the more I looked for the less I found.
you can find this part only in authorised service centers.Check brOther support online
Authorised service centers don't sale parts to the individual customers. They can fix for you and charge more
Not Like that Bro.Take it easy
You can buy it here for $9
www.iteminconline.com/ly2579001_ly2579001-brother-hl-2220-feeder-cam-lever.htm
Oh here www.partsimple.com/ly2579001-bro-n-13.html but you would have to buy 24 of them ... maybe not a bad idea since this was such a poor design. Ive just tried super gluing the existing cam lever.
Where can I purchase that part for a MFC-7860DW?
Joseph Ross you can buy in ebay or any brother printer service provider.
Part number is Ly2579001 Feeder Cam Lever
Joseph Ross please subscribe my channel and let me know what other probem you have in brother printers
Thank you!
Ok, subbed!
Thanks to you I was able to fix my printer!
My printers sometime pick the page and sometimes not what is the problem?is that the same problem to replace feeder cam lever or anything else please reply
Whats the model?
3:11 this procedure alone may want you to get buying two feeder pieces just in case, when you press through there’s a chance that tooth (basically the whole reason for this replacement) will break off.
Thus causing you to throw a fist through a wall.
YOU ABSOULTE LEGEND!
Thanks bro.Plz subscribe

Great video! I thought it was the pickup roller first. It turned out to be the white plastic part you mentioned in the video.
Will you advise the name or part no. of this plastic part? Thanks.
its feeder cam lever
jeevan luitel Thank you.
Thanks, I had the same broken part. I tried to use super glue but it wasn't holding it. I put everything back until I order the part. Strangely it started feeding papers even with the broken part.
