Actually they have camera that can film at trillions frame per sec now. I watched it at TED. They can capture light go through a Cokes bottle in super slow mo. If light can be shown going at super slo mo, it must be.........that fast.
calvintrainer1212 No it doesn't, they use a technique where they capture it frame by frame and repeat it until they get that. It is impossible to capture a photon.

+Schruef The camera used was a Redlake HG-100K. It can shoot 1504 x 1128 pixels at 1000 full frames per second. Not too bad, but new cameras do much better.

Let us appreciate the Mantis Shrimp. It punches so fast, hitting so hard that it leaves a cavitation bubble, (an air pocket formed by the speed and shockwave of the strike) that collapses on itself and provides even more force to the punch.
It also boils the water around it and cooks it’s food alive

we had a mantis shrimp as a pet before and it was really awesome...aside from its powerpunch hammer-like claws, ours had also this samurai-like claw that would tear their preys apart...we had set up an aquarium about half an inch thick for this creature along with othe fishes and at night, we could hear it banging the enclosure! seeing this vid just made me miss our pet...

@@akashpandey2733 mantis shrimp mainly because of the fact that it is march larger but also because pistol shrimp powerful bubble shot needs alot of underwater pressure and thus isn't effective in shallower waters

That's a good physics question! I believe the salt water the fish lives in has a lot to do with cushioning the recoil, but the force isn't coming from the shrimp as a whole, it is coming from the claw on impact. So the reciprocating force is exerted on the shrimp's claw and disperses as kinetic energy through the shrimp's body and the surrounding water.
Ironic how at 0:45 he says "and with cameras that can see this level of details", but the video itself is 360p

+Meme Yes i know that. But go look at The Slow-Mo Guys oldest video dated around the same time. Its in 720p according to my mobile app (I don't know what the quality would go up to on PC version of TH-cam) so explain that then. The only reason I can think for why this is uploaded in poor quality is due to inferior software, NOT technology limitations as its been proved that slow motion recording could still be produced in HD.

Water is the most precious and rare element in Universe, more precious and rarer than diamond, gold or platinum.
What I find truly incredible is as you watch the super slow motion of the balloon popping at the beginning. You can also notice the extremely rapid eye movements of the guy reacting to the popping. Maybe because of the change in light reflection from the lack of yellow balloon 6 inches from his face, or maybe something else. Just some food for thought.

If both of them hit each other, they die, but the thing is other than that slight speed advantage the pistol is outmatched. Mantis shrimp are much bigger, more agile, and much smarter. Unless they are equal size and the pistol gets a solid hit quickly, I don't see it winning.
