You can use the adapter on the wii u as well for certain games, though smash is the only one I know that supported it that I've played.

Even while playing Wii games that DO SUPPORT the Gamecube Controller, like Brawl; you are unable to use GC controllers if you are using the Wii U to play.

@@alecjohansen they should atleast make an official gamcube controller with usb pluggin or make wireless game cube controllers like the powera gamecube. That doesn't sound like a good excuse for terrible connectivity.
I was pretty lucky to get the official brand new Gamecube controller and adapter today. My uncle living in Japan found them both and mailed it to me. They are out of stock everywhere.

I was already covered for the GameCube controller on Smash Ultimate thanks to the one I had branded for the Wii U.
My entertainment center used to look so nice with all my console's. Now with all the wires from headphones to the switch and now the wires from the gamecube it looks like we are going back in time instead of future gaming.
Wireless isn't the future anyways. Could always get a wireless GC controller anyways lol

Recently received my controller, i just ordered it online. It feels pretty nice, I basically just wanted it so I wouldn't have to borrow one of my friend's controllers (there's no way in hell I'm playing SSBU with joycons unless I'm on the go).
So can the gamecube controllers be used as a wired controller for *all* switch games that support a pro controller? For example, playing breath of the wild

Yes and they are amazing and so many Options. I love Nintendo Switch. The official Pro controller is amazing, Joy cons are Relaxing and great for motion controls. Plus you have cool Official accessories like Nes, Snes, and Gamecube controllers. Also third party controllers from power A are not to bad either.
Can you play with gamecube controllers and wired controllers at the same time? I mean do I HAVE to connect both usb ports to use the adapter?

Yes your old controllers should work fine, Only games that don't need extra inputs on switch work well l.

Can anyone help me for some reason when I put my controller in P1/the left during mario kart the screen keeps moving up in the main menu but for some reason the other three slots work fine is mine broken or what’s up?
Possibly because that port is bad. Another reason can be because your analog stick is being held up while connecting it to Port 1. Try keeping the analog stick at the center and not moving before plugging it in, otherwise it's probably the port 1's fault

I rather would get my self an older model of the gamecube controller. I used to have 4 controllers but sold the 2 other controllers a long time ago and I regret selling them haha. Though I did bought myself the two Offical gamecube controller no to long ago but they aren't the reiusse ones like in your video. I'm pretty sure you can still play smash bros with the original gamecube controllers on the switch without buying the newer models am I correct? Also can you play other switch titles with a gamecube controller?
You can play most Switch games that support pro controllers with gamecube controllers, but some of them will not work correctly since the gamecube controller lacks certain buttons (a left bumper, Home, Capture, Minus/Select and the stick buttons)

So (I think) you have to plug in the white USB for rumble but for 8 player smash with GameCube controllers you only need the black USB (This is what I think)
Yes, one of the plugs is optional as it merely powers the rumble.

Keep in mind that the triggers of the old GC controller have a difference from the triggers of the new controller. These triggers can be switched by opening the controller, though.
Also, this specific difference may not be relevant for most casual players.
@@mparagames Yeah I heard something about that. Apparently they have a different feel to the buttons. Tho I don't really mind since I'm not planning to use it for smash anyways. Mainly I just want to play Super Mario 64 on my wii :D

I don't think nintendo is making any more of these. They instead licenced Hori, and Power A to make usb and wireless ones. Thier build quality isn't as great, but it is all you can get now.

Just wanted to ask you if you were experiencing any problems with the 4th slot of the adapter. Mine screwed with my control stick direction so I exchanged the product for a new one. The new one has the exact same problem on the 4th adapter slot.

B C I just fixed it I think just hold the power button and restart the switch while the controller is plugged into the one that doesn’t work and it should work again I went to the mario kart screen and it wasn’t moving up like crazy

Yes if you have Wii U GameCube adapter, third party GameCube adapters work as well. And you can use your original GameCube controllers

All games work but lack of certain buttons makes some games Incompatible. Also no Rumble for those games. You could get the Power A wireless GameCube style controller for Nintendo switch and that works with all games. I made a video Unboxing it
