Hey Joey, id like to share a small experience from me. Normally what you observed is that the console is failing in the second boot stage. Since you checked all voltage rails powering on, it should be good. But sometimes, the southbridge fails even when the power up sequence shows its ok. Ive had two cases such as this. And when the wifi ic dies, its known to take out the southbridge and/or hdmi encoder too. Best bet is to revisit with replacing the southbridge.
You Repairing (or attempting repairs on) Xbox's, Playstation's, and Switch's, is the reason I watch. Plus You are Truly a Nice Person. There are plenty of other channels, for everything else. Awesome Attempt and Video! Have a Great Day Joey! 😀
Hey Joey. First of all I’d like to thank you for your work and entertainment you give to us all! I love your videos and watch them on a regular basis as fast as they appear on my wall. And I think you should definitely concentrate in this series on what you like doing the most. But… You could definitely create another series where you for example try to fix other stuff totally random and do it for fun and to get an experience. Maybe create like Totally Random Stuff Spreadsheet or TRSS to find out if you’re getting better in TRS’. Just an idea Joey. Keep it cool and do what you like doing! Love you man.
I do not have nor do i plan to, any of the devices you fix. I like the style of explaining things and dealing with problems and hunting down the dead parts 😃 I did this when i was young, been 25 years not doing this much. Thank you and keep chugging along and spreading knowledge.
Hey Joey, if people are tired of you fixing , then they can go watch another channel and keep their comments to themselves. Anyone criticizing you for not catering to THEIR wants is pretty sad and pathetic. Love your videos. Love your outlook. Love your channel. Keep doing you and the right people will follow.
I really like the enthusiasm in your videos. I know almost nothing about such small electronics, but the way you present it just makes it so interesting for me!
I've not long been a sub but i am so glad i found your channel, i work as a electronic service tech for a living and i love watching you do these repairs, you're teaching an old dog some new tricks. keep up the quality content Joey!
I think they didn't lie to the customer. They took the chip out, confirmed no short, could not source a new one quick so when customer refused further repair they put the old chip back with no reball. They used too much heat in the process that caused the pcb mask to weaken.
Iam totaly fine with your content, gives me the feeling we all get together an ps5, xbox and Nintendo switch technician on this journey 😊. And that all consoles I selfe owned. So interessing to see there faults and hickups. Great content, keep going. Thank you for sharing.
Love the content Joey. Every repair has twists and turns regardless of what console it is. Unlike lots of channels you post failures which keeps it interesting. Don’t listen to the haters 👍
It’s nice seeing u Joey working on different consoles but you working on ps5s and switches mainly really doesn’t matter me as I enjoy watching the troubleshooting that u do and the process of ur repairs. If I had more time on my hands I’d invest in sum more gear needed to do these repairs and attempt to do sum myself
Joey is the steadiest hand in the game! I think they removed the IC, then determined they could not replace, and finally tried to put the IC back without reballing (I didn't see any balls). I'll bet they also overheated that section causing the soldermask to degrade. With my microscope, I found that turning off the lights on the microscope, but keep the ring light on removes a lot of the glare.
Just curious if you use canned air for dusting your electronics or if you use an electric air duster. As always great content, love watching your videos.
Well it might be a lot of PS5s but truly every console or gadget has its own story. Thats why I personally dont mind if its a channel about 80% of PS5s or not. I also watch other repair channels wich for example repair ONLY GPUs. Boring could someone say but like I mentioned... every machine has its own story, thats why Im here, to learn from these stories.
20:00 mine neither, and I'm too cheap to splurge on an oscilloscope or a better multimeter - so I purchased an incredibly cheap analog voltage meter and use that for the more quick moving signals haha Though I definitely wouldn't use it for precise measurements. I more use it to check if there's actual actvity or if nothing is arriving. An example is me diagnosing the indicators on my car. My also incredibly cheap digital multimeter just constantly showed 0V, but my analog voltmeter was happily bouncing around the place (you know, like the idicator does), showing me that the problem was not the relay (it ended up being a wire eaten by some rodent)
Do some laptops or retro console repairs? would love to see you do some more laptop repairs if you feel up to it that is.. I really don't see too many people doing that was kind of repairs that are fun and exciting videos like the profit or Loss series that you do..
Fixing something that someone else has worked on is often harder than fixing something that was just in its broken state. Whether Cars or Computers--people have a tendency to make things worse trying to fix it. You've mentioned it before as a possible issue on a switch. They may have damaged traces that are power related under the wifi when replacing it. It would also explain them being dodgy about not having the part in stock.
Honestly don't worry about doing the same thing it's always a challenge to find new content, when your buying faulty electrics very many faults can be present and the thing that keeps us watching again and again is the journey and also the hope that you can fix a fault. If you were fixing 100 ports only yes it would be very dull but it's always different. Also the repair and resale of consoles seems quite reasonable
Joey! I would love to see you try and fix a backwards compatible playstation 3 console with the infamous yellow light of death. There is good profit in them and they would be entertaining to watch :)
Reballing those are a real beast lol, you need at least an stencil and good experience reballing plus a good hot air gun or bga machine, and things can still go south
I appreciate that you address fixing the same thing in every video. Unfortunately the value for your audience diminishes when you pick the same item every time for TH-cam videos and challenges. I have a mate named Vince that really benefitted by going outside his comfort zone.
If you fancy something different - I have an OG XBOX I'm very sentimentally attached to which had the dreaded super-cap leak. I cleaned it all up and it looks good and recapped some areas but it still wont boot - just flashes orange and green. Please fix it for me! 😁
I honestly think the fault was a ripped trace under the WiFi IC 2 contacts were touching and adding the mask didn't change that. I think when they moved the IC it wasn't fully hot enough and the traces were ruined. I think they knew it when they gave it back to the customer.
Joey if you’re gonna continue to buy faulty PS5’s I feel as if you need a contingency or something saying if it’s a beep on and off you can send it back. Or maybe before purchasing the item have the seller plug in the console and tell you what happens. I don’t understand how there’s a whole graveyard of them now, the PS5’s have solely kept this channel afloat this year. I haven’t seen this many broken consoles since the Backward Compatible PS3.
If I or anyone else want's to watch other things get fix and are not happy they can just watch Buy it Fix it or StezStix Fix just to see if he burns any plastic parts or lose a cap. You keep doing what you need to do not worry about what any one else want's.
Let's meet in the middle then. How about you start a mini series about you trying to fix stuff that you've never tried to fix before. That, I think, would be good content.

Good to know I have 2 like this thanks for the input

there are rare moments that ı grateful for youtubes algorithm. I am addcited to series ty
Appreciate that, thank you :)

Completely fair and appreciated comment. Maybe we can look at something like this for sure :)

Ha yeah same.
I did some basic electronics 20 or 30 yrs ago, that's about it.
Just interesting repairs and very nice presentation style.
I appreciate the detailed data while you're working -- voltages, temperatures, air flow, etc.

This is from Canada. I really enjoy your PS5 repairs and attempts and want to see more. Thank You.

Just letting you know that your hard work making these videos is highly appreciated Joey!

I watch this channel because of you Joey. Keep doing what you're dong brutha'
i want to see whats inbetween the wifi chip, please split it into two pieces next time, :D watching you repair electronics relaxes me lol
Love your work.. keep fixing what you like to fix :)
My face feels very welcomed joey, thank you
"it hung like the slightest more second im sure it did" 😂

My god the cleanliness! That chip must be immaculate underneath.

I had a similar problem... same boot sequence. Was a switch regulator (A202C on the F002 fuse/circuit) had led to a wifi chip short (or vise versa)
Do some laptops or retro console repairs? would love to see you do some more laptop repairs if you feel up to it that is.. I really don't see too many people doing that was kind of repairs that are fun and exciting videos like the profit or Loss series that you do..

Joeyyy please look into southbridge, you always do why not this time hahahaha
I was left wondering if a shorted USB or HDMI port could stop the boot sequence after the blue light?
Honestly don't worry about doing the same thing it's always a challenge to find new content, when your buying faulty electrics very many faults can be present and the thing that keeps us watching again and again is the journey and also the hope that you can fix a fault. Also you have so many donor parts it makes a lot of sense to keep fixing them. The price of these faulty consoles is far too high tho
Joey, Did you try UART? If so you must have done it off camera.
15:06 so funny :D
Love it
Hey Joey, I'm not tired yet, bring more PS5 and Nonworktendos :D
Joey! I would love to see you try and fix a backwards compatible playstation 3 console with the infamous yellow light of death. There is good profit in them and they would be entertaining to watch :)

Love the vids
Maybe after you hit $1,000 , do other devices in the next series (things other than consoles)
I appreciate that you address fixing the same thing in every video. Unfortunately the value for your audience diminishes when you pick the same item every time for TH-cam videos and challenges. I have a mate named Vince that really benefitted by going outside his comfort zone.
also thanks for welcoming my face, it feels very welcomed :)
joey, you removed 69gg from that slim and put it on other ps5 and it didn't work. but did you tried putting 69gg from that ps5 to slim one ?
Hey Joey, will you be able to source and fix a broken Xbox series x. Seem to always be Ps5s
If you fancy something different - I have an OG XBOX I'm very sentimentally attached to which had the dreaded super-cap leak. I cleaned it all up and it looks good and recapped some areas but it still wont boot - just flashes orange and green. Please fix it for me! 😁
Oh no.. that was a pity..
Joey, instead of replacing the WiFi it looks like they tried to reflow.
tbh they might of just tried to reflow the wifi chip, that could of been why there was flux on around it
think you should get yourself a electric BGA vacuum sucker to make lifting chips off the board easier
I honestly think the fault was a ripped trace under the WiFi IC 2 contacts were touching and adding the mask didn't change that. I think when they moved the IC it wasn't fully hot enough and the traces were ruined. I think they knew it when they gave it back to the customer.
Conformal coating and solder mask are not the same thing Joey
I don't know how you have done it, but you have managed to make electronics into a sporting event. Thanks for taking us along 👍.
my guess on the failed mask: he used a really active flux instead of no clean and it just sat on the board and ate at it.
Face welcomed 😊
Joey if you’re gonna continue to buy faulty PS5’s I feel as if you need a contingency or something saying if it’s a beep on and off you can send it back. Maybe they tried to reflow the chip instead of replacing it?
Why are they all coming without the ssd's ?
The SSD's are optional for extra storage. Either the sellers took them out or never installed one to begin with.
Probably the SSD is easier to sell separately as a functional part
Known unknown error must be the most unhelpful error report there is...
Can you please straighten the wooden sign in your background? Thankyou!
maybe they just put the old one back after not being able to get a new one
More switches 😅
Why dont you experiment with the chips? Like replace stuff till it works maybee you will find it
I’m sure they just attempted a reflow, and not a good one on that ps5 WiFi chip
If I or anyone else want's to watch other things get fix and are not happy they can just watch Buy it Fix it or StezStix Fix just to see if he burns any plastic parts or lose a cap. You keep doing what you need to do not worry about what any one else want's.
They could have just tried to reflow it since they didn't have the part.
Join the discord !!
thye might have just reballed the chip and not replaced it
Joey, you still haven't straightened your wonky wooden JDT sign :(
Video idea: Refurbish subscribers technology:)
Now I'm regretting purchasing a no power PS5 😩
Yo
Hey!
Is it still a thing to say first to comment?
I think so :)
Not in 20 years
Dont spoil us thats not worth watching the video
Bouncing around to a bunch of rando things is not smart. Keeping your bandwidth narrow maximizes your ability to be successful and profitable
I’m all good if it ain’t a Nintendo switch
Let's meet in the middle then. How about you start a mini series about you trying to fix stuff that you've never tried to fix before. That, I think, would be good content.
Every video is a Ps5, switch, or Xbox. Just change the intro to say you buy faulty consoles.
I dont keep doing it ...I don't mind ps5 ..im trying to learned from u ...u work great
Can you fix my pc please lol
I am the32nd commenter
Dude stop buying dodgy consoles
Dont talk so fast bro
Work with laptops in season 2... 😁😁😁
