- Are there any differences between German Shepherd and White Swiss Spehpherd Dogs?
What are the differences in size, weight, character and temperament of GSDs and White Swiss Shepherd Dogs?
What is the history of the two breeds?
My WSS constantly surprises me with how smart he is.And a great guard dog, but he's all bark and no bite. He just wants cuddles and love all the time. ♥

We just got our Swiss puppy today. 8 weeks old and she’s so smart and sweet!

The white shepard (I have had 3) have a very sweet and loving temperament.

At least now we are aware of our history and are open to all. Same breed we love just a variety of color as we love.
If you want to protect the Swiss white shepherd don't become recognized by the AKC or they will screw up the breed the way they did to the GSD!

Growing up, we had a German Shepherd that was mixed with Yellow Lab. A very loyal, loving and intelligent dog. When he died, I felt so bad. I promised myself that if I ever bring a puppy into my home, I won’t stop loving and teaching it. I am debating on either the Shiba Inu, Beagle, Pomeranian, Belgian Malanois or the White Swiss Shepherd.
Are both shepherd need to bring them go out for exercise everyday?

No offense, im not trying to just troll..... But, EVERY dog, no matter the breed, needs exercise everyday.
@@3six967 my exercise means run 2.4km or 5km everyday if bring them have a short walk everyday is not a problem

It's actually the other way round.
A Swiss White Shepherd is just a German Shepherd that's white.

Dear AL, according to the GSD standard, GSDs cannot be white, they are not accepted.
They are the same.
The dogs don't care about some standard written by humans with jealousy problems.
@@CliveWallace-bx7rg Dog do develop some characteristics as the breed goes on with their evolution. That being due to human o nature’s influence. The SSD has been bred to have a more gentle temperament. There are still some physical differences between them.
@@Arivmario would you please list all those physical differences you refer to. Have owned both types for over thirty years and still haven't seen any differences.
By the way my current Black and Tan is way more friendly towards strangers than my White.
@@CliveWallace-bx7rg While the GSD is typically tan and black, liver, all white, all black or bicolor, the SWSD is only white. At the creation of the breed, all colors were accepted. It was in the first decades of the 20th century that the WGSD exemplars began to be excluded in Europe. The SWSD was recognized by The Kennel Club in 10/2017 but it is generally accepted it was developed from the WGSD white strain of the breed and there is an obvious similarity. SWSD combine beauty and brains they have similar appearance of a GSD without the strong temperament. They’re more suitable for new owners or people who want the look of a working dog without putting the time a working dog requires. That makes the SWSD more suitable for therapy or service dog.
I have an old school buddy of mine whose parents have kennel and they said "the swiss shepherd is not acknowledged in denmark"
They actually are, we just dont have that many of them here👌you see the German Shepherd much more😊

I have a 3 year old white German Shepard and there is white hair every were in my house! I watch a channel of a groomer called girl with dogs that calls them German shedders! lol

One died and one is 4 years old now, he is a wss he is not trained well can you tell me tips to train him. The reason that I want to train him is because he is so aggressive and bites every stranger that came to our house can you tell me some tips?
What about legs problems because classic german sheperd has a lot legs problems ??? How it is with white shepherd ?

The leg problem was because some rich person wanted to make the German shepherd's smaller, so the smaller back legs are a deformation of some sorts. A proper German shepherd should have 4 legs of equal length and a straight back not curved/lower at the back.

They're the same dog, the only reason they have a different name was because germany didn't want white shepherd's
they are not the same. according to the AKC, GSD cant be white as its not a standard. the WSS however only has a pure white coat as its standard on the UKC, FCIPR/FCI and any other KC.
@Joshua Alderson Technically u right but Germany got rid of white shepherds and eventually the Swiss adopted those caste away dogs .. Thats it

I have had several of both types, they are very different in temperament, social requirements, physical energy, training needs adjustments.
Change the name if you will and claim residency as you see fit... but we need the "white wolf" to live amongst us from now until the end of time! Swiss White Shepherd always forever

There is no such thing as a swiss white shepherd dog, they might call it that now to differentiate it from the gsd, white shepherds are the result of white GSD pups that used to be put to sleep to keep the breed pure and genetically healthy and in most areas of europe you were not allowed to breed from them, they have gained popularity (unfortunately) and yes there are differrences, white shepherds tend to have hearing problems, hip problems, eye problems, major temperament problems, what does anyone expect from line breeding a very small pool of recessive genes for generations !!! Dont believe me then check and see how many police forces use whites, how many have ever qualified at the top working levels in Schutzhund or knpv, tracking or obedience etc , you will only need one hand to count them and you will have spare fingers left over ! it's supposed to be a working breed !
Absolute gob shite. You have no idea what you're talking about. Been involved with the white GSDs in Australia for over 10 years and they are a superior dog to your average show line GSD. Much more athletic and healthier with perfectly normal hearing and hips. In fact it's much more common for these dogs here to live 12 plus years than the average show line B and T show line with their sloped backs and weak character

I have both Black and Tan and pure White German Shepherd Dogs and let me assure you the differences between them are 100% political, not genetic.
The white Swiss shepherd is intelligent and very loyal, strong and obedient I have 2, a male and female, I will not swap them for any other

i dont need you to reassure me, i have worked with real shepherds at the highest levels in more than one country inc some of the best clubs in Germany and have been inside a protection suit being bitten more times than you have eaten breakfast and i have never worked a single white shepherd at any time as no one actually works them ! please point me to a video where a white german shepherd (or one of these so called swiss shepherds) is competing in a real working trial or doing even basic tracking, agility, protection and bite work ? never mind any form of advanced tracking and protection work, most are scared of their own shadows, most of them are very defence driven by nature and live life on the edge between attacking to scare someone away and running away from any threat they perceive, they are not nearly as stable temperaments as the gsd, but then again neither are the majority of show bred gsd's when compared to a working strain (dont confuse outward aggression and intimidation with being strong dogs- i have only ever seen one white one back it up and that was in a familiar training scenario ) most have temperament problems etc which is why the country of their origin banned them from breeding and destroyed them to stop poor genetics ruining the gsd, which is a working breed, early breeders obviously raised those early white pups and found them wanting ! comparing a white shepherd with a show bred shepherd is like comparing horse shit with rocking horse shit, they are both.......and neither one will actually protect you and die to do so in a genuine tight spot but they will alert the whole neighbourhood with the barking as they run away sounding aggressive
