  • www.timcolemanx.com Tim Coleman briefly explains how to ride over logs on Enduro bike using the punch technique also know as 'Jap Zap' or Double Blip. Trials riders like Tim Coleman can entertain themselves for hours with just one or two obstacles, practising existing techniques or learning new ones that they can then transfer to the dirt bike. It's these skills that make top extreme enduro riders such a formidable force when the terrain gets tough. Tim has spent the past few years adapting his trials skills to enduro, which has led to stunt riding in movies, international coaching and his own stunt shows in Australia. Have a look at some of the best extreme Enduro riders in action like Graham Jarvis, Jonny Walker, Chris Birch and Taddy Blazusiak. They are all former trials champions who have won extreme Enduro events by applying their trials training to Dirt riding. They ride in a way that is so smooth and effortless that you often can't see how fast or good they are until they fly past struggling riders or sail up near vertical slopes.

    Performances not just in Australia, Tims from Tc Trickz travels all across the world from Asia, Europe and the U.S to display unique dirt bike stunts and enduro tricks. TC Trickz attends your event with our own portable setup, Public Address System, Insurance, speakers & generators. Performances can be done in almost any weather conditions, any type of surface with minimal impact to the surface with his trials bike or Beta RR300. Trials gave Tim Coleman a chance to discover and conquer a much wider range of obstacles and more gnarly terrain that his birthplace was flourishing with. Being able to hone his trials skills by leveraging all this natural goodness, the young athlete soon started to win one trials event after another. It's extreme enduro's worst kept secret - almost all the top riders are former trials champions. Tim Coleman is no exception and has represented Australia three times at the Trials Des Nations, basically the Olympics of international trials riding. Tim says trials riding is all about precision with balance, throttle and clutch control, whilst getting your bike up some epic obstacles. And be warned, it’s incredibly addictive! Cross training is the application of Trials-based skills to Dirt riding, and it's got solid backing from the world's top riders like Tim Coleman. According to Graham Jarvis, "going fast is the easy bit. It’s going slowly that will help you develop control. Simple riding exercises which are actually difficult to perform can give you a lot of control." Tim Coleman agrees!

    I'm getting over 550mm logs with double blip but the Jap Zap is a very different move. In this vid it looks like you blip the throttle during the release of the clutch when the front wheel is compressed. Another channel video says chop the throttle when the clutch is released ? (Revving the engine during compression) But I can't see how this provides lift. I'm going out today to try the Jap Zap for the first time. Hard to get the thinking around it though.

    What would be the main difference of the punch technique vs the double blip, it seemed like you were double blipping to some extent. And what tyre were you using on those logs.

    • @timcoleman9336
      @timcoleman9336 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ian9toes thanks mate the double blip and punch technique is the exactly same technique. people call it different depending on where you come from. Regards to tyre a soft compound Michelin is what I was running, but tyre should not matter on certain things if you get the correct technique you could do it on a slick tyre

      Thanks for clearing that up. I've seen other vids where they have pointed out that two blips are involved as well as de-weighting on with the 2nd blip, but you didn't mention these, plus the different name convinced me there were two techniques.
      I've been practicing this techniques for a while now and I'm stoked to be getting over much bigger logs than previously without casing.
      It's great to be 42yrs old and still improving thanks to TH-cam videos just like yours. Seeing what's possible is very inspiring to have a go at something not as extreme but still pushing my own limits, thanks for making this vid.

    1) when you punch your front wheel, do you use front brake in same moment ?
    2) And when your rear wheel on the log, should i try to balance to keep the front up for good landing? - I think yes, but in your video sounds like when your rear on the log you just pull the clutch and roll over log until landing on both wheels. Thx Tim :)

    • @timcoleman9336
      @timcoleman9336 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi mate, you can use a little front brake when you first punch to compress the forks. Also can be done without front brake depends how comfortable you feel having finger on brake riding over obstacles. Once on rear wheel on the log then try land the rear wheel first on the ground so you can get the power down quicker if going quick. Landing both wheels is fine also. Just got to try not nose dive it's messy and can throw you off balance

    So i just bought a Beta RR250 Racing edition 2016 model. Because I tought the 300 would be a little to powerfull to play around with. My question is, are you rinding the 250 in this video or the 300. Also how many teeth on the front and rear sprocket do you use ?
    Great teaching video btw ! Keep up your amazing work

      Hey mate, Nice, congrats on the purchase sure you will enjoy it, the 250 will be a great bike i ride the 300 with standard sprockets. The bike seems fine how it is, i havent touched anything on. The powervalve thats about all, Thanks for that!

      out of interest what is your preference on the power valve ?

    • @TheKillgore521
      @TheKillgore521 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I got told to let mine stay on stock setting :/ But that's cause I ride on motocross tracks on full speed and aswell on tight enduro trails

    • @timmycoolman56
      @timmycoolman56  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      imnot tellingyou I find power valve fine, turn it a little so it is less agressive so can hold it open longer and get more traction

    Wouldn't the sump way fuck up your linkage if you had one

    • @Endozers
      @Endozers 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +julian wilson As you can see at 1:15 the carb deploys some fuelmixture to ensure a nice slide for your linkage :D
      But seriously, it isnt that bad on logs, rocks are more kind of a problem especially when you hit them at higher speeds. But you can get a linkage guard to take care of that.
