Thank you fpr posting the PPR videos. I just ordered the game based on your videos and look forward to receiving it (and analyzing it, as well as playing it)
Thank you for showing this I'm going to get this and am going to create a States vs States tournament plus adding a Canada team to balance out the leagues. Having a Northern Cali n Southern Cali with the Dodgers being split up between the teams
I am finally playing. I decided today for some reason to roll some Pocket Pennant Run. Playing the 1st version for the first time when the 2nd version is now out. LOL! Anyway thankful to have this video and others of your's helping me and keeping me company while I try to play out the 1922 Yankees vs the 1922 Senators. Really exciting stuff so far. Walter Johnson is K'ing people like he should. Loads of fun chucking dice.
Like the game so much that I not only bought the boxed version but also bought the PDF version to start playing right away. Love everything about this awesome game. Thanks for letting us know about it!
incredible bargain .. plus just beautiful simplicity... great flow. You could keep the game cards on one sheet to keep from flipping ....or shuffling...
I like your work on this. In regards to catchers grades and stealing, what if you modified the steal die as follows: A Catcher - reduce die by 2 B Catcher - reduce roll by 1 C Catcher - no change D Catcher add 1 to roll.
Lol I think we’re building a lot of great ideas as a community, and that’s always a good thing. I’m still in the process of determining what an A grade means, defensively, for a catcher. Roll reductions may not be strong enough-we might need letter grade reductions for the runners’ speed.
I just now purchased the printed base game based on your previous first look video. Thank you so very much for the info. Have a delightful Christmastime for you and your family.
I have looked into this game in depth now. Apparently, the batters are graded mostly on batting average to get their A-B-C-D grade, and the pitchers are graded on ERA to get their A-B-C-D grade. This is simple enough that the designers should be able to make every Major League team that ever played, all the way back to the National Association. It won't be all that statistically accurate, but it will be the easiest game to play without having to learn the rules, and it will obviously take up the least amount of space. It knocks Superstar Baseball off the top line for simplest game.
For pitcher fatigue, if the pitcher has a no-hitter going, he could keep his starting rating until giving up a hit at which time his rating would drop. Same with a shutout except that his rating would drop with a baserunner of any kind (hit, BB, HBP, error, etc)
I can’t speak for the designers, but I’ve heard them say in other contexts that every time an adjustment is added, flow of the game is reduced. They say the purpose of the game is not to strive for the ultimate in statistical accuracy but to strike a balance between a game that plays smoothly and quickly (while at the same time NOT being “quick play”) and a game that provides statistical accuracy. I think that’s what they’d say.
So I understand that you can replay games with this. However, can this be played as a 2 player game? I mean are there any strategies involved which would make 2 player fun?
If I buy the bass game the box version that comes with the 8 teams. If I want other teams do I have to print them out or can I buy them that?Looked like the cards that came with the bass game
They’ve ordered more-not sure of a date yet. I’d recommend that you join the Facebook group for the game to keep track of updates. I think they’ll have a busy 2022.

Thanks!
You bet, and I should say I love your channel. I am an APBA player from way back (1971 set for the 1970 season was when I started).
@captainnolan5062 I started around seventy five, All I can remember From those cards is joe Morgan Who had 4 single digit elevens!
@@dontbeasucka.61 Morgan was a superstar for sure (with power).

Nice idea-let me know how it goes!

I purchased the PDF version and I really enjoy it. Player database is amazing. Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks Michael! Lots of other PPR videos on my channel-take a quick search and you’ll find them. Enjoy!

My pleasure Tony-thanks for your support.

It really is Rip-so many excellent elements.
I like your work on this.

Didn't mean to 'steal' the idea from Dave Gardner

Thank you-you too! Sunday at 10 am I’ll do a walkthrough of some of the elements of gameplay.

Agreed!
It's the golf pencil that has me sold. Looking forward to your demo and seeing it in action.
I’m a sucker for golf pencils!
Thank you Kurt. Yes I noticed that one can add lots of house rules to the game. Pretty spiffy.
We should start a bank of house rules on the Facebook page.
I love watching you preview these games and I'm not even one for baseball!
Thank you-it takes time but I enjoy helping people connect to games they’ll like BEFORE they spend their money.

I like it!!
Looks like a well thought out game that a player (and aspiring designer) can appreciate!
I really think there’s a hockey game in here somewhere….
@@KurtBergland oh there's a hockey game in just about everything, if you go looking for one...
How come power isn't reduced if a left handed batter is facing a left handed pitcher like it I'd on the initial roll?

I am enjoying the game :-) thanks for bring it to our attention

Happy Sunday 😁

I purchased the game, b ut can't see where to download the software.

I guess those could be home-brews. You can steal, hit and run, etc.

I saw no reference to infield in Kurt. Did you?
No there is not. I’m working on a way to do it, however, and I’ll have some options ready in a few days.
Your generating lots of interest in this game. The website says print version out of stock .
They’ve ordered more-not sure of a date yet. I’d recommend that you join the Facebook group for the game to keep track of updates. I think they’ll have a busy 2022.
You could also print out multiple cards for a team:-)
Absolutely!!
The game is out of stock already...
They have more coming, but I don’t know the exact date yet. I recommend joining the Facebook group to keep up with updates.
