  • UFO is a 1970 British television science fiction series about a secret alien invasion of the Earth. Created by Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson.
For me Gerry Anderson is one of the last real model builders.

Sorry to nitpick, but Gerry Anderson was a TV producer.
The majority of model designs were by his long-time visual effects supervisor, Derek Meddings.
The studios had their own model builders and they also contracted out the work to external companies.

If you're still out there, I'd love to see a 3D tour of Spectrum's CLOUDBASE from Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.

I really enjoyed this! I have the DVD collection, and especially enjoy any scene showing the UFO ~ especially the interior. While it is small, I think it may be a little wider than you are showing (I believe you assumed it was 35' in diameter). The reason I say this is because an F-15 fighter jet is 63' 9" long, and 42' 10" wide; I think this interstellar craft would be comparable to that (maybe 50' to 55' or so). Also, the green light at the top was used in the final episode as a time-stop device which (apparently) can manipulate space/time; perhaps as part of the FTL drive? One thing that is missing here is the escape pod, which was used to eject the aliens in one episode when the UFO was critically damaged. The mini-UFO dropped out of the bottom while the UFO was hovering, and this would again suggest a larger UFO. Also, regarding the fusion reactor, I think it is more likely the aliens would use a cold-fusion or thorium reactor, which are much more advanced. Thorium reactors have been developed by Dr. David Adair in the USA, and he is now contracting with wealthy nations in Arabia and Indonesia to build them (th-cam.com/video/MiEesE8Juo8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=UAMNTV).
As an aside, I'm guessing the crew would be tranquilized somehow, perhaps by the green liquid they breathe, because to sit strapped into a seat for 4 months with little room to move around would be unbearable for humans. Perhaps the computer could change the formula so as to awaken them if sensors detected a threat while traveling? The show said the UFOs travel at "SOL 6" speed, which I assume is Speed Of Light times 6 or to the 6th power... any idea how far away they would get in 4 months traveling at either speed?
Great job on this project! If you ever do an update on it, please let me know. I've liked and subscribed! Thanks!

Its great fun to speculate about how this alien craft operated, I find myself doing that too, however, its actually far beyond our understanding and we really have to assume that they ( aliens ) are way ahead of our conventional air - locks and power systems and do things in a totally alien way to us.
Id love if they had made an epesode in which Shado capture and attempt to deconstruct the alien vessel.
    Nice work !

Paul Fogarty Totally agree about an episode to de-construct a saucer. They could have made it the conclusion.
Sort of the "bright new future of man."
      I love happy endings!!

In the same way the SGC deconstructed G'auld tech in Stargate and had real problems getting things to work without killing them.

You forget that the aliens were probably advanced in the areas of superconductors. I doubt they would have just used simple copper.

I love Gerry Anderson stuff (Captain Scarlet - both versions - is my favorite). I never got into UFO much, but I remember their bizarre spaceships and that jet car the main guy used to drive around. You have come up with a really excellent explanation of how the suacers (are they really saucers?) are designed and work! Thanks.

Scifisteve1954 - Most fascinating thing I've watched in a while. I always thought the Aliens tech was between 100 and 200 years ahead of us. The choices you made are brilliant although there are a few very brief shots of a saucer interior when Foster is captured which you could have incorporated. I hope you don't mind that very small critique from someone who has no where near your 3D rendering skills. Bravissimo sir!

Fosters capture was just a dream so it wouldn't be accurate anyway.

@@techguyone11 true, but it could be based on unseen (in the series) things he'd seen from captured or destroyed Alien tech. Plus Straker does go into the alien underwater bubble. So some tech may be common.

In one episode we saw inside a saucer when a SHADO main character operative is taken prisoner.
The Aliens were raiding Earth for human body parts, it was revealed later in the series, to medically sustain their race, which was found to be also human.
The green fluid was determined, by SHADO scientist, to be some sort of protection from their system of ship's star drive, interstellar cosmic rays, etc.

Although it's implied that Paul probably was never actually captured and was actually in a drug induced dream following a party (it was the late sixties it was filmed). Although his dream could be based on what he'd seen previously. It's never explained.

You're assuming that the fusion reactor is a hot fusion type.
It could be a cold fusion type, such as an subatomic impulse fusion (impulse power reactor) which would require a sub atomic impulse synchroniser to initiate and maintain cold fusion. (Refer to the sub atomic impulse synchronisation cold fusion postulate (1938)).
Due to experiments conducted during the 1950's and 1960's with this system of fusion power (to no avail), Star Trek writers picked up on it assuming that eventually humans would perfect a workable sub atomic impulse synchronizer. The "Synchronizer" is mentioned in a few episodes of TOS and TNG as part of the engineering techno babble.
The contraption that converts highly positively charged fusion plasma into electrical energy is called a electro-plasma manifold and actually already existing technology (EPS manifold in Star Trek ENT, TOS, DS9 and the Converters in TOS which are usually "Lit up like a Christmas tree", according to Scotty). This is the area where scientists and engineers are trying to improve on to pass the break even point of hot fusion reactors. The rapid erosion due to the exposure to fusion plasma is the biggest problem.

    re: Reg Hill.
Reg is pronounced "Redge" (like hedge, ledge, sledge, etc), as it's short for Reginald.

Your sound is very bad. All treble. Sounds really bad. Maybe it is my computer, but all other videos I watch have very good audio. Just sayin'.
