It's fascinating to see how much of a toll the Black Album tour had on his voice. You can already hear the strains in 1992 and by 1994 his rasp is almost completely gone.
I'd say 2003 was great then 2004 to 2006 were weak, 2007 to 2009 was great again and 2010 to 2014 was the weakest period in Metallica's history in terms of pretty much everything.
James Hetfield of Metallica His vocals did change a lot in the song called Whiplash by Metallica released in 1982 and 1983 when Kill Em All Metallicas debut Album was released on July 25th 1983.
Good years: 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 2007, 2017. 2018 and 2019 are good also Though my top favorite would have to be 1987 or 1988

It was a harmless joke not meant to offend anyone. I'm sorry if it did

The evolution of Metallica can be measured by how much James hunches over the mic

This is pure nostalgia.

1999 was an excellent overall year for Hetfield, maybe not as much for the thrash stuff but his vocal control was very good at that time

1982 had more energy than 1983
yeah in 1983 he blew out his voice recording Kill Em All so it's weaker.
@@rattlehead999 not true, i think its just deliberately slower to play on album tempo and its a tour so its possible his voice was just tired out.
1986 that’s basically all he wore until the the new millennium
Also before his facial hair lol
Voice change between 1988-89 is crazy
1989 and 1992 james are the best james
1984 is fire
what do you mean by "fire"
@@natemeeks6823 good
87/88 and 1991 where the best
Hell yes
89 was too low 1990 was like 89 and 1991 was unique 88 and 87 is a mix between his old vocal style and his new thats why i like them so much

Say what you will about the '82 one, but the ''whiplash'' on it fucking rules
When he grew facial hair his vocals buffed up
The power of the beard lol
It happens already on Garage days
Yep. If he was clean shaven in the justice and black album era's his vocals would have sounded different.
Good years: 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 2007, 2017. 2018 and 2019 are good also

*1993 was also good at Milton Keynes and Mexico city

The Seattle 1989 Whiplash was the fastest song ever ever performed live
Check out Whiplash at Hammersmith Odeon, 1988. Quality is not as clear as Seattle 89 but arguably the fastest version of the song
James best vocals....the justice era
Real
2:34 ACTING LIKE A MANIAC... ᴡʜɪᴘʟᴀsʜ
Lol
1984 james: adrenaline starts to FLOO
newton 2017 or quebec city 2017 is the best whiplash performances in the modern metallica world.. best since 09 and maybe even 92!
1996 is where it got bad, 2004 or 2009 is by far the worst. recently james' voice was pretty good
The live shows from late 2019 James' voice is really good.
96 was good

1996 he had his 1991 voice on some voice
I swear the more hair he has, the better his voice sounds
1989: this is great
1991: this is great
1992: this is… great…
1993: this is… wait…
1995: oh fuck… go back
2003: fuck fuck fuck
2007: kinda..getting better
2012: slightly okay?
2019: hold up! This is pretty great
2022: YESSS HES BACK!!
3:23 that guy xD
This song pumps me up
7:48 and 9:30 hetfield voice back
Wut
Sounds tuned up a little bit too
His voice did change in the song called Whiplash by Metallica
82 and 83 are cringeworthy that weak "whiplash" in the 83 version gets me every time 😂😂😂
You are not a Metallica fan. Besides you know how tired you are after doing so many songs? You don't know music
You can't do the "whiplash" perfectly all the time.

I like 1986, 1984 and 1987 the best
How do you change your voice so much in such a short time? 87/88 is crazy!
He went into more of a growling style into 1987.
