This is a Cort guitar that has been on my wishlist since it was released, at last a review that lets you hear it at it's best, the only thing missing for me is some pickup surrounds, but these can be added.
Thanks again Jonathan, as said below, your "Magic Fingers" seem to make most guitars sound fantastic.

That’s a beauty Jon and the Tone is very sweet. Cort are I feel underrated. I have a G260n HSS and it’s natural finish alder body and maple neck. I always get an ahhhh! When I open the case. It’s So well made and the wood they use is stunning. As we speak coincidentally I’m rewiring it with an auto split system just like the one you’re using. It’s a special super 5 way switch that enables the right pots and capacitor values when you switch from one to the other. They really are fantastic value. Of course you make it sound amazing 😀❤️👍

I guess now we can see that Cort builds all the HB Fusion guitars and decided to release a Cort branded variant of one of those with some alternate body cuts and forms. The awkward overlapping rear panels are the dead giveaway IMO.
I have to complement Cort on doing this. In some ways, they bring that guitar DNA to all their supported shops for hands-on tests. Smart.

Excellent playing! Your guess on the pickup configuration is correct, according to a PDF schematic on the Cort site. They say position 2 is both pickups 'inside coil' and 4 is both pickups 'outside coil'. What I can't find is what is supposed to be the difference between these??! I'm about to take the plunge and buy the Blueburst one.

@@JonIsJustTooLoud I just received it an hour ago. It's very impressive indeed, lots of quality features to like. First thoughts on plugging it in: (1) the humbucker positions are noticeably louder than the single coil ones, which will be problematic if switching mid-song. Luckily I have a boost pedal on my pedal board. (2) The whammy arm sticks out too far for me, but I can probably bend it in a bit. (3) Disappointed there was no truss rod adjustment tool, Allen key, leaflet guide, well, nothing at all in the box! Cost trimming I suppose to get to the price point. I might do a quick review video myself. All in all though, an amazing guitar for a great price, I'm sure they'll sell shed loads!

Update after owning this guitar for a year: I really want to change the pickups. They are 'dark', 'lifeless', difficult to describe really, but maybe their cheapness shows. I'm currently pondering what I can swap them out for. All other aspects of the guitar are excellent; I'm very pleased with the neck feel, frets, tuning stability, etc., etc.

How is the overall build quality comparing to a Harley Benton Fusion? I know the HB has stainless steel frets and is even cheaper but I prefer the outstanding look of this cort! Would you recommend to change pus on the cort? In some other reviews on YT people say that they find the Cort pus a bit dark sounding? What do you think? If you had decide between the Cort and a HB FusionII (maybe the TE one) which would you choose? THX in advance and keep on your excellent reviews!!!

    • @Sankara561
      @Sankara561 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I want to know too because I believe the Fusion-II and this Cort are made at the same factory. I love the steel frets on my HB, but the non-recessed floating trem on mine has very limited bend-up. Still, the HB is about half the cost!

The split positions 2 and 4 are very similar I think they could have had better options. The resistance of the sboth the single combined tap is only 2.9k so you have to get the volume up if coming from the humbucker.I had to replace the 5way switch don't think that quality of the switch is very good.

I own this guitar and I really love so many things about it. The neck is unbelievably smooth and silky. But I do have one problem with it. The high E string is so close to the edge of the fret that it often rolls off the side if I'm not careful (using 8's). It's a problem with the design. Does that happen to you? The rest of the guitar is amazing- the finish, the pickups are great for both clean and distortion, locking tuners are great. I don't really use the whammy bar much because I find it too sensitive.

When you play your leads you usually only use 3 fingers and rarely the 4th finger. Is that correct technique or is just a personal preference or choice? Did you find any issues on your guitar?
My one had too high nut (causes de-tune between open and 1 fret and makes hard to play in beginning positions), wrong height, too high, of 2 fret on 6 string (causes rattling while pressing on 1 fret), volume and tone knobs and/or potentiometers are too cheap, so the knob position is a bit out of axis while rotating.
But those are easy to fix. Overall quality is good. And it sounds really great.

That's only a (cosmetic) thin laminate top on the ash body I believe, so for sound think ash body & maple neck - is that correct Jonathan?

    • @JonIsJustTooLoud

That’s what I stated.. swamp ash body with a flamed maple top✌️❤️

    • @csharpminorseven

@@JonIsJustTooLoud A flamed maple top like a Les Paul is NOT the same as a flame maple VENEER - manufacturers need to be honest about this and not mislead potential purchasers IMHO. Doesn't stop it being a great guitar, but if you're buying online you need to know what you're getting - and as I said, this is an ash body & maple neck - and a flamed maple VENEER, and NOT a "flamed maple top".

Hey, I've seen that you answer all the questions that asked :)
So I'm a student and because of financial issues I'm looking for a versatile guitar that suits kinda every genre.
I've been watching videos about this guitar but I don't know if that's what I want..
Do you think that it suits every genre ?
And another question, how was the sustain of it ? cuz its bridge is kinda unusual so soft and not Floyd rose
